Sesa used the Spring to rebuild. Dropped some dead wood over the summer. Will be back strong this fall. No predictions but team will be fine.

Can East Meadow make it more obvious that they wanted to play Alby in the finals? Surf should’ve advanced instead. Good thing the lost.

Get a hobby you loser! Stop bashing 11 year old girls you freak!! Obviously you're a surf parent. Are you mad Alby wouldn't take you back? Couldn't get a spot in EM either huh? I'm sure it had nothing to do with your kid, they probably saw what a psycho you are. Boohoo go cry to your mommy sicko.

East Meadow beat Albertson. As surprised as you, that they weren’t playing Surf. Great game to watch, both teams played well.

Dude, tie breaking criteria have been posted for months under tournament rules. They are as follows-
1-Head to Head
2-Most Wins
3-Goal Differential
4-Most goals scored
5-Least goals allowed

1-Alby & Surf tied in game play
2-Alby & Surf both had 2 wins
3-Alby & Surf both had a GD of 10
4-Alby had 14 goals, Surf had 12 goals
Alby advanced. Period. Stop Crying

Where is the team South Shore located that tied East meadow ?

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 08/26/18 11:34 PM

Dude, the only reason you were allowed to count 14 goals is because you gave up 4 goals. Surf only gave up 2 goals so they were only allowed to count 12. Both Surf and Alby scored more goals then were counted but you are only allowed to count five over thr competition. Since Alby gave up more goals they were allowed to count more goals on the plus side. If you honestly think about that you will conclude that it is a poorly written rule. Surf was punished for giving up less goals.

On a softer note, both Alby and Surf played a great game as was the EM/Alby final. Shaping up to be a great season. Good Lyck to all the girls and boys this year.

How many 2007 girls team does surf have these days? Was that the A team playing in the EM tourney? I also thought Brooke was the coach of the top team. I’m sure a lot of surf parents arent happy Meagan isn’t there anymore especially since she left after parents commited to the club.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 08/28/18 01:04 PM

They have teams in NPL and in EDP. Hard to figure out which is which because both the NPL and EDP sites link to the same team ID.

EDP bracket looks absurd. Teams with no history placed in D1 from Hamden CT, Syracuse, Long Island, Rockland. That seems like a crazy amount of travel for this age.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 08/28/18 04:22 PM

That’s correct and for that team I don’t see Brooke’s name as the coach which would make me think that’s the B team as I think she would be coaching the A team.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 09/13/18 05:38 PM

So is the surf 2007 A team the bunch of kids that came from Alby originally a few years ago? I also thought their B team was a town team that came over as well. So it sounds like they couldnt even recruit individual kids to make a totally new team. If this is true that is scary and would think twice about them, as well as their fees which are high. Wonder if the new Barca team had to do the same thing or if they were able to make a new original team

How so? Unfortunately surf hasn’t been a relevant team since they started a couple of years ago. They think they are, but far from that.
Why they’re playing EDP it’s beyond anybody. They’ll be lucky to win one game this season

Looks like Albertson lost to Ginga as well. Anyone see that coming. Guess Surf and Albertson are in the same bucket. Lost to the same team and tied each other at the EM tourney. Albertson must be on the way down with a tie to an irrelevant team.

Losing 6-1 is way different than losing 2-0. Wether you believe me or not I'm not an Albertson parent but you can't compare Surf to Alby. Very surprised that they tied last time they played each other. I'm guessing Alby was missing one or two players or something else must've happened. My daughter has played against both teams and they are definitely not on the same level.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 09/24/18 05:23 PM

Alby vs Surf both had their full squads and was a great game among equally matched teams....Surf did not have four of their players vs Ginga in that game just clarifying. Ginga is a very talented team and deserves credit for their early season performance to date.

EDP Cup this weekend looks really good for this age group. I'm sure Clarkstown will show well as usual but this is a great group of teams all at one tournament. EDP has really taken over when it comes to running these events.

NEW YORK SC G07 PRE-ACADEMY NPL BLUE (NYE)

Of these teams you have the NYE #1,2,3,5 ranked teams and the NJ #1,2,6 ranked teams. Red Bulls are brand new but I'd imagine pretty good.

Final will be SJEB v. World Class. SJEB and Clarkstown just played in the final of Spirit and it was a super tight game. Red Bulls just lost to Clarkstown 4-0 so I am going with World Class in Group A.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/03/18 01:34 PM

Red Bulls are good but style of play is very possession based. That still tends to lose games at this age when going against aggressive teams.

Looks like someone is a little uptight...this poster was just answering the question from a few posts ago. It was all ok until non-LI teams were being predicted to win. And this poster wasn't even predicting Clarkstown to go to the finals, why trash the girls...

Clarkstown does have one really good player. She shoots from pretty much anywhere but somehow scores. SUSA should have shown better.

Let them enjoy the girls success. They are a very good team. The bad news for them is that they lose their players once they hit U13 and get on the big field. Look at their 2006 girls team this year. The club just doesn't have fields after U12

" The bad news for them is that they lose their players once they hit U13 and get on the big field. Look at their 2006 girls team this year. The club just doesn't have fields after U12."

Losing Players ? I would think all of the teams will slightly change when they hit the big fields because they need to add players. I'm from LI but driving on the way thru Rockland i see a lot of fields tucked away in Schools and Parks ... just like LI and Jersey. I also think all of the teams need to be preparing for U13. As I watch SUSA, WC and Clarkstown and there style of play i think they are going to be well suited for a big field. SJED looks like they will struggle. It takes 2 seasons to get comfortable on a big field.

All of these Clubs you see different Coaching Styles ...for example south american and european influence... but what really makes the difference is watch how your Coach motivates your daughter ... thats where you will see the winners.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/09/18 02:49 PM

Clarkstown is an excellent team that wins, but like someone said wins at this age group mean nothing. Their style of soccer isn’t developmental at all and that should be the focus at this age group.
I look a teams like PDA, torpedoes and that to me is the right way to play the game.
I know everyone suddenly became soccer experts and know so much about the game, but developement should be priority at this age group.

I live how any time someone actually says something logical its automatically the coach. Imagine a parent on this website was actualky smart enough to say something that made sense...ponder that while I head to my PTA meeting.

I am not Danni Samimi. I am just well aware that parents of kids from a team like Calrsktown that wins a lot all believe that they must be galacticos who shou;ld be playing ECNL or DA at age 13. So they leave Clarkstown, who cannot provide such platforms. Does not matter that the bulk of the players I've seen on that team over the past 2 years are not particularly special. They win, so the parents think they must be great and should be on NYCFC, World class or PDA.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/10/18 05:09 PM

Whether you a pro-Clarkstown or anti-Clarkstown, take is easy on the talent commentary - unfair to those girls. Most if not all of those girls would be grabbed in a heartbeat by any and all nearby ecnl, da, npl or other clubs. And all would be fine staying at clarkstown. A young player can develop AND also happen to win a lot, no? Just because they play to win (by the way I have yet to see any league or tournament that does not keep standings / give out trophies, etc. and I have yet to see any team’s parents or coach just reading a book on the sidelines content that their players are developing their skills more (debatable) than the players that are winning) does not mean they are not developing in training, does it? If you are that rare bird that cares nothing about winning until college or the women’s national team, then I tip my cap to you because most girls will not get there - by their own choice or due to competition. Bottom line - using this platform to take down girls and opine on what their parents may or may not think based on nothing more than your agenda and view of the world just ain’t right.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/10/18 05:21 PM

It so sad that a person makes a statement of 11 year old girls whom are developing their love of a sport ... "ALL" & " are not particularly special" & " so the parents think they must be great".

Without us even knowing I will say this is a disgruntled X parent of Clarkstown whom is guilty of thinking exactly along the lines of what your claiming of the teams Parents and Players.

One thing for sure .. "ALL & The not particularly special & think they must be great " ... if you watch them closely as I did when they played our club in LI ... the Coach uses all positive reinforcement, he allows them to play a more open free style soccer, they go down the field in a high pressure style, the girls congratulate each other and play as a team, we don't see the coach and parents screaming all game ... i will say this is a class A representation of a good club, which happens to win games.

I'm sure the Coach , Parents and Players all are discussing their plans for the future ... after all this is development and moving on is part of life ... but moving on and not burning bridges .. thats the where probably the mistake was made ?

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/10/18 09:11 PM

Teams in the entire area are full of players that are not particularly special if we're defining special as being really great, eventual top D1 prospects. Almost all have parents who think they're great and will chase leagues and rankings so it is the same everywhere.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/11/18 10:10 PM

In your mind its the same everywhere.

But most soccer parents do what needs to be done carting their kid back and forth to practices and games ... and if and when all the stars are aligned perfectly and the the child shows interest, the Coach , the Team and the Parents all come together ... you'll have whats called a Elite Soccer Team that wins games.

Not everyone is thinking about D1 soccer ... Not everyone is counting on scholerships ... not everyone is thing about making the nation team or playing pro. Most are worryng about the child doing their homework, staying healthy, not getting injured, being happy and most of all let the child make the decision day by day month by month and year by year. If and when a Coach sees talent .. believe me they will let the parent know ... then they will purse higher levels of soccer past age 11. But for a parent to get on a forum and make statements like " they not particularly special & think they must be great " is absurd ... for one Humans will grow and mature at different rates .. some who are Elite now may not be elite in 1-2 years and via versa. So to make statements that the girls are leaving a team especially since you have no idea what the Coach, Parents and Girls speak about in confidence and obviously you dont because your statements are way off.

So like Mama used to say " if you dont have nothing nice to say .. dont say it" especially about 11 year old girls ... not appropriate.

Not the poster but it is true that some teams/clubs do lose players at a certain age bracket pretty much every year. This is not a crazy or controversial statement to make. LI is full of feeder clubs that do well up until certain ages and then send their players to bigger clubs.

Clarkstown against Ginga this weekend should be a great game. Ginga seems to be a very legit team and clarkstown just beat a weak Albertson team by only one goal.

THis sounds like a disgruntled SUSA parent who is still not over the fact that they got whooped by Clarkstown 4-0 in
the EDP tournament a few weeks ago. #Fury

It is so embarrassing that everyone posting crap here are parents. Clearly 98% of posters have never played soccer or know much about it.
I'm not going to start bashing teams and criticize 11 year old girls, but i will criticize the parents and trainer.
There are two types of teams at this age group...The ones that play to win and the ones that play to develop.
I've seen most of the teams that play EDP and believe me when I tell you that there are some very well coached teams.
If you know anything about soccer you would know that Ginga, PDA, Albertson and yes believe it or not Surf are very well coached teams and their trainers are doing the right thing. Not a big fan of Clarkstown's style, but they are winning and that means the most to the uneducated soccer parent.

SUSA parents are not disgruntled by that game. It is not easy to play soccer that looks to incorporate link ups and progression through the lines against a team that smashes the ball from anywhere and has 2 players shooting from their own third on an 8v8 sized field. No offense to Clarkstown because they do have some good players but their style for a U12 team doesnt seem to emphasize player development.

A good way to evaluate whether or not a coach is focusing on player development is to look at how often the goalie is punting the ball down the field. Coaches that focus purely on player development usually do not allow goalies to punt. Sure you'll lose some games this way, but that may not be the coaches main concern.

Except that if you are trying to develop a goalkeeper, she would need to learn how to punt the ball at some point and a goalkeeper needs to develop their accuracy with their punts so that an attack can be started with a punt passed forward.

There should be a mix. playing from the back develops both field players and the goalie, but punting every time the goalie gets the ball isn't the right thing to do.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/18/18 01:58 PM

Punting should only be used to relieve heavy pressure or constant pressure in your end of the field. They are 10 and 11 year olds you think that you can start an attack from a punt? How many girls at this age can trap a punt and start your attack? Only way you can start your attack on a punt is when the ball bounces over their head because they can't judge where it will land or simply muff trapping the punt. They are better off starting the attack from passing out of the back.
That is why they have goalie training and practice.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 10/19/18 09:34 AM

Well again, if it’s about development and goalkeepers do need to learn and develop also. So at one point they need to learn how to punt in practice and then when age appropriate they need to actually punt in their games. Doing it during practice and training only does no good if they never get to do it under actual game pressure.

Now even if you believe it should be limited to relieving pressure then they still need to learn how to punt at one point.

I'm a Clarkstown parent and I most certainly agree with your assessment that Ginga, PDA, Alby, SUSA are all well coached teams that play a great brand of soccer. I'm pretty sure I'm not speaking out of school when I say that all the Clarkstown parents and coaching staff have a tremendous amount of respect for these teams and win or lose the kids always get a great contest when going head to head.

I do however disagree with your take on our girls. They work very hard and are developing at a similar rate as these other great programs you mentioned. And for what it's worth, I was fortunate enough to play high level soccer through college so it's not like I'm staring at the scoreboard every week, my concern is always on the development. And the girls are progressing just fine and I'm confident even at this young age that for many of them the future is bright on the soccer field if they choose to stick with it. As I'm sure it is for many of the other girls from all these Clubs. Good luck the rest of the season!

Why is it that teams that win a lot are "playing to win" whereas teams who lose to them are "focused on development."

Big part of development is also learning to play an entire game, close out against weaker teams and to keep playing even when tough teams score against you. One can debate styles of play and their contribution to player development from a technical perspective but the mental side of winning, playing as a team, etc. is easily just as important.

What puzzles me is ... what developement model are we taking about when the statement “Developement” is mentioned ? Because as I watch all these teams I don’t see 1 team modeling the US Soccer Model. Who’s to say what’s correct? Also I see every team with different styles which model the style of the Coach. Each and every Coach has been influenced by their Soccer Training and Background. As I listen at each game I hear accents from the UK, South American Portugese and Spanish , European Spanish, Portugese and Italian ? So which Developement model are we talong about ? How many of you have actually watched the development of teams like Barcelona , Juventus , Brazil etc ? Do you have any clue what style of Developement the Clarkstown Coach chooses to teach. My opinion is is appears he allows all the girls to Develope there own style inclusive of “development “? I’ve seen it first hand girls who sat the bench on one team switches clubs and the girl is a solid player.

I’ve watched the Clarkstown Girls they are relentless, they train hard, they work hard, they are not easily shaken , they stick to their game, they play together as a team, they congratulate each other when they do good. All of them, it’s no secret want to Win. All of them live , breathe, sleep Soccer ... so is this a crime? This is not worthy of adults bashing them and wishing their opponents beating them and rooting against them and wishing them I’ll fate? One thing I can tell you without a doubt there is a Very Talented Coach and Group of Girls who train day after day and deserve better.

I agree that those girls at Clarkstown do deserve better. The only problem I see for them is that their club can not get them to the next level. Their coach has done a fine job with them, but what is next? A good coach knows when it is time to let go and will encourage players to go on to the next level. I am very hopeful that this coach will push his players to be their very best, and not hold them back when they make the choice to leave as he did with other players in the past, although I do see the girls wearing the Capelli Uniforms, so maybe Cedar Stars is their next stop

I assume the next level is not simply a different environment / or different training but playing at ECNL or DA level and I am not sure how Cedar Stars accomplishes that. Cedar Stars' highest level is EDP club v. club and Clarkstown is straight up EDP. Now Cedar Stars Monmouth has DA and some decent teams at that but I don't see these girls commuting down there...perhaps your assumption is a little off...

They're clearly good players or else they wouldn't win so much and people shouldn't act jealous. I am sure they're a great group of kids as are most at this still young age. I have no idea what the Clarktown team plays like because my kid's team isn't in their league.

Usually, prioritizing future development means you might put kids in a position where they are far more likely to make an error and thus cede goals. For example not letting your goalie punt or minimizing the defenders sending the ball over the top to the strikers. This is how they learn to deal with pressure, use techniques and improve awareness, etc. The opposite side of the spectrum is based on results, so those adherents look to minimize risks and concentrate on physicality in the opponent's end and really having the game revolve around one or two really strong players.

One isn't necessarily right, it has a lot to do with what you want out of the experience, what your individual goals are, what the club/team's goals are, what the coach's aspirations are, etc. All of these factor into whether one type of environment is right for you or not.

Clarkstown is a town team and won’t be the powerhouse they are now on a big field when the lights go on 11v11 . Their top players will go elsewhere . Just the nature of the beast but they are very talented and well coached. Had a nice run on the small field. Time for the select few to move on to better clubs where they belong and the game of soccer to begin.

Missing scores? I'm shocked, NOT!!

GS and these guys, and all the rest doing rankings are at best guesstimates, and I'm being kind. None of these guys have a true way to accurately rank teams, clubs, or players. There is a way, but it would also have to include the end-user and there is where I see an issue of total cooperation.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 12/09/18 06:05 PM

Since the beginning of time the method of counting and measuring has evolved. The same will be done in this small world of youth soccer as the sport grows in the USA . The means of measuring as of now is GS. Obviously whom ever is recording the data and statistics increases the accuracy and validity. I would suspect it’s only to the advantage of GS to be most accurate and include as much data as possible ? But obviously the critics always find reason to discredit the only means available at this time to rank youth soccer.

I suggest you read their criteria for ranking and points. One that stands out is the extra points a club or tournament gets if they are advertisers.

Please do not make the mistake of challenging me on "ratings" as I have lived by ratings (radio) all my professional life, and have a very good understanding on ratings, and GS is far from close. Going one step further, I have spoken with GS about their rankings/ratings and I still say they are at best a guesstimate and I'm being very liberal in my analysis.

The point is ... present youth soccer with a better system ? You can’t because there is none. Youth soccer begs for a better ratings system. The point is to sit back as Monday morning QB and only complain is not what it’s all about.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 12/09/18 11:28 PM

There is a significant difference between ratings and statistics my expertise is statistics. Ratings are tainted where statistics depending on the rules and guidelines will present results. When you gave like we have one major rating system like GS. That’s all we have so until a more accurate system exists this is all we have ... good or bad ? That’s it.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 12/10/18 04:16 PM

Clarkstown yes.

However, I disagree Susa Blue "was and could be" a very good team however some are technically flawed and behind their peers. Not all of the kids are technically flawed but out of the group which is greater than 20 field players spread across 2 rotating rosters they are lacking the abilities that some of their younger Susa players have as a result of being trained the right way by Susa trainers that will truly sacrifice the win for development. These trainers that have these younger elite players have these U9, U10 and U11 players playing possession ball with tactical awareness that is sorely lacking at U12. Again this is a direct result of the trainer being content with having older (January - April birthdays) who have big bodies and are more developed who had success up until this season were this same team has not placed in the last two tournaments they played (Stars of MA and EDP). The trainer continues to stay with the players who are lacking technically and tachtically for that matter.

The trainer who happens to say he follows the European style of soccer does everything but follow that style of play (go watch a game or sit in on a training session (yawn). He is being very lazy and does not have this group work on their technical side nearly enough. He has stayed with kids who are clearly not as good technically or tactically because they are a bigger body or "use to" have success with putting their head down and going down field with their kick and chase/run speed. He plays kids for entire matches who have a greater than 80% turnover ratio whether under pressure or not. Again collecting a paycheck and not putting in the time to develop them the right way so they can have sustainable growth and success.

Where (what league) will Clarkstown play next year? Will the team fade into the EDP NL where no good teams go? Or will they look to move as a team to the GDA or ECNL. I see them waring those beautiful Capelli uniforms, so maybe a Cedar Stars takeover is on the horizon?

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 12/10/18 05:39 PM

I was more impressed by SUSA 07 last year and understand that the addition of ECNL resulted in some U12's playing up now? I thought many of the players last year were good technically (not all but quite a few) and that they adhered to a pretty clear game plan, rarely booting the ball and normally maintaining composure. This year the team I saw was much more based on size as the above poster mentioned and with less technical ability. I wonder at how the roster changes between competitions.

I read a lot of silly stuff on this board but implying there is a take-over in the works b/c Clarkstown wears Capelli uniforms is a good one. BTW, Capelli is the uniform provider for 48 other clubs besides Cedar Stars and Clarkstown, wonder if there are other take-overs in the works? Cedar Stars Bergen is still working out the kinks from their NJ Crush / NJ Heat merger and their top teams play in the EDP National League so they have nothing more to offer Clarkstown than what they may already have access to on their own.

It is true that the rumor going around is that Danny Saimmi is taking the whole team to play as Red Bulls or as a Cedar Stars affiliate team - prepping for when the girls age into DA.

The same girls are playing U12 and happen to be playing U13 on occasion. Their flaws technically have always been there just was hidden by other factors. Now that others (other clubs) put in the time and training its very apparent that they are not at the same level as the better programs. Will they occassionaly win against a more well rounded club, YES but they need to play catch up to be consistently successful and that wont happen with doing things the lazy way. Can't be like the Yankees and constantly go after other's hard work/training products. Need to develop the teams you have and have a system in place which will carry them through. Some of these trainers at Susa are relying on the tryouts to be a crutch for their subpar training the two season prior.

That’s the rumor that is going around. Not Red Bull’s, but Cedar Stars. They added boys in Bergen already, girls are next, and then say good bye to Danny after a year. Half those girls will be wearing green next year

That's definitely an interesting rumor. My friend has a daughter on that team and she hasn't said a word about this.

If true, just seems like an odd time to pursue DA with so many parents complaining, all of the general issues, and clubs looking to drop DA in the Northeast region.

Don’t think they were trained by a parent. they had a BWG trainer but think a parent. Is her the games which was probably my the issue and went down hill from there. I headed the trainer was excellent but the dad on game dad was not good and people grew tired of him, that’s the word around the campfire on that short lived team, where did the MP parent a go after that, what are they doing trying each team out for a season and keep leaving? Feel bad for those kids!

So I know we haven’t begun the spring season yet, but we are trying to figure out the ever changing soccer landscape. GDA now seems to be a thing of the past, and I am hearing rumors of Clarkstown moving their team to Cedar Stars. Where are the best choices for a 2007 Westchester kid to go? Please don’t say Surf. We are in the exploratory stages of finding a new team as my daughter has outgrown her current team and she does not have the option of playing up

If your trainer is good stay put. If you see another one that seems better then take her there. After next year you will have to make a decision on where to send her to play. If she is at the top then GDA or ECNL would be the best option. Right now focus on getting her in front of the best trainer possible for development. My opinion is that GDA will surpass ECNL it’s just a matter of time.

Maybe but for now ECNL looks stronger and the kids start at U13 there. WCFC seems to be the favored destination but CFC is an option as well.

I can’t speak for CFC but that age group at World Class has alot of talent and if your daughter is at the top is def worth checking out. There are two top teams currently there. One is a former Clarkstown team and is top flight Jeff Cup for this March’s tournament and the other original WC team has done extremely well...typically plays up to U12. Good luck with your search.

Aside from aforementioned list could also look at Red Bulls RDS teams. Great training, talented kids. NJ North team would be pretty close by.

I think you're talking about the 2008 group. I wish my kid was a 2008 because that would be an easy decision since they have so many good teams in that age group. Right now the ECNL clubs look like the right fit, but lets see what their coaches think of my daughter.

You know the usual. Manipulating the coaches to drop certain kids to either lesser teams because they were taking playing time away from the kids in the inner circle. The email that went out was a complete slap in the face to the parents. Of course that was after they took everyone's money. 3 kids have already left for other clubs before the spring season.

The coach is not the issue here at all. The coach has been double crossed by the club as well. Problem is its now clear to ALL who runs this team and its not the coach. Coach Shannon is far from the issue here. The club should be ashamed.

They made a team of 4 girls for the edp. The rest would be substitutes from the npl team for every game. Great way to build a team. I hope all four of those families find better homes to play

Does KB=Keith Bratti? If it does that seems to his press....Since I have first-hand knowledge about Keith and his interactions with Surf after he took his Mia out of Albertson was because he was given power, and very substantial power to run Surf on Long Island.

What is confusing and puzzling to me is with all the options at literally every team/club/academy, why parents stay and have their kids play within these self-serving parents illustrates how stupid and clueless too many of the parents are.

Do you know why out of the blue Surf got NPL without playing in that moronic money grab, BS Metro league? No one else wanted or was able to field a full compliment of teams for the club based NPL. Keith, the soccer genius, saw stardom for his Mia. It's your money and your kid. Proceed with caution.

Does Keith own the club or just the team? Isn’t latest coach just a player fresh out of college but parents being sold on ‘college coach’ drivel? They seem to go through coaches and DoC’s on a regular basis.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 01/29/19 12:51 AM

I no longer know who is what at Surf, other than Keith Bratti is NOT the owner. The owner is Matt Popoli who went MIA in July of 2017, and while he still owns it, for convenience he allowed Keith to run the operation after being getting his heavy sales pitch.

Since I was involved in the consulting of NY Surf especially when it came to college coaches let me address how that came about.

Initially I was told by Popoli, who contacted me, that the San Diego Surf was going to get NY Surf GDA since they were a founding member club.

It was me that steered Popoli to all the original college coaches. When it became obvious to me that the San Diego Surf was impotent, or didn't give a [****], Popoli attempted to get ECNL. We all know where that went!!

Then, to try and get GDA, Popoli met with one of the owners of Sky Blue (the Bed, Bath & Beyond guy) to try and get GDA through Sky Blue, and the owner said, "no prblemo", and then gave the GDA to NYSC smile

You cant make this [****] up!!!

Initially it was Christine Welsch, but she declined at that time and went with Match Fit since her partner was working and they were living in NJ.

I then turned Matt on to Jess Clinton, who I know, and the coach at Adelphi, whose name I forget. Kim Wyant was another college coach I introduced Popoli to.

The big bright light came after when I turned Popoli on to Sue Ryan, who had the ear of all the GDA Executive Bunch, but Sue apparently was not comfortable being a shill for Surf.

Fast forward to today, and Surf is just another club run by a fringe parent whose interest is his own Mia. Very similar to what we read about Saunders at Met Oval, and Glynn at Gottschee.

O stop it already. NPL is like any other league around. Some good teams, some middle of the road and some not as good. As far as skipping line....over who? NPL is almost dead, NY Club blew it and let EDP take over with a much better platform.

Doubt those kids came from town teams, they have some strong players. When you say "blame the club", well its really not a club anymore. At least not one that has leadership, direction or a vision and that's only one of the main parental complaints. Once MF left there was really nobody to talk to that knew anything. There are lots of names on a website but for most of them that's all they are. Surf is going to be in for surprise across multiple age groups.

By the time June tryouts come SUSA who is in their backyard will some of their fields ready and should be adding ECNL2 to their program. SUSA is or should be looking very attractive to those Surfer Girls.

ECNL is the next dying league. NPL is dead and this age group is way too young to even discuss DA. EDP in my opinion is the most competitive league in this age group.

So what you are saying is that the coach picked these teams? Who else could possibly be qualified to place these girls other then the coach? The club director does not come to game and practices. So with that this must have come from the coach? If the coach made the teams then i see no issue?

If you do not think someone is influencing these decisions behind the scenes then you need your head examined.

This unfortunately happens at every club. Talented kids left aside because of influential and overbearing parent who influences the coaches decisions on who makes the top team and in which position they should play. Teams allowing parents that level of access is a problem.

The coach was clear to the parents and kids what her vision for the future was. A team meeting WAS JUST HAD where it was clearly defined. What was called " last minute adjustments " in the email was not the coaches wishes. But the only person from the club qualified is the coach. Only other person with any interest and the power k.B. no backpedaling out of this one.

All these Surf kids are probably going to end up with Albertson or East Meadow and rightfully so. LI needs to stop having a million "club" teams and really concentrate on having two or three strong teams per age group

I don't know about making money, its more like trying to break even on the initial investment. Look for a mass exodus after spring and maybe one more year of Surfing until they hang the "Out of Business" sign. Mr. Miller said it best "they had everything going for them but laid a huge fart!".

Maybe so but the there are lots of Western Nassau players, even a few queens ones. Susa isn’t the most accessible place for them.

The club will be sold. The assets are the paying customers. About $45,000 for each team based on a $3,000 annual tuition. They have at least $500,000 in annual revenue. Should sell for that amount.

Really? The assets are the paying customers? FLASH!! The players aren't fixed assets. The players can leave today, tomorrow, whenever. So I understand your business acumen, you would buy Surf and then watch your players (assets) walk over to another club, and you're going to do, what?

I also would love to know how you priced a Surf team at $45,000 on a $3,000 annual tuition since all that money doesn't go to the club. Doesn't money go to training, ref fees, etc., so the club doesn't keep or profit $45,000 per team.

I also believe Surf coaches are salaried, n'est pas?

So then how do you value a soccer club if it's not based on paying customers? Most business are sold on 2x annual profits. The 500K sale price assumes 250K in annual expenses.

SUSA buying ISA is a tad different. SUSA got ISA's slot in the NPL which was at the time a bit more exclusive than today. They got contracted access to the Cherry Ave fields in Bayport and the KofC field in Deer Park. They got the Alber's to remain as trainers in the club with whom a number of players were extremely loyal too.

Surf doesn't have have exclusive access to anything, their access to the Stony Brook fields is tenuous at best and not all that desirable and nobody gives a crap about their trainers.

How do you buy a team in youth soccer? Do you pay the parents and coaches and have them sign a contract? If so, how do I get Clarkstown to sell their team? That is the best team around, and I’m with WC

You buy the club, that's what SUSA did. They first bought FCLI and then ISA, the acquisition of both those clubs gave them some very good teams and a nice size player pool to start with. The tricky part is keeping players and they seem have done fairly well in that area as well.

So you cant buy a town team, which is created based on offering town players opportunity to play based on municipal fields & facilities. So Clarkstown can't be purchased. They probably get use of their fields based on a combined rec (AYSO) and travel program. Most towns would require that at least 75-90% of the total players be residents of the actual town. The travel or elite program will be somewhere like 25% residents but since the rec part is the vast majority of the players and is 100% it all evens out to that goal 75-90% number.

I believe WC serves as the travel program for OMM soccer, which is why they use the Orangetown Soccer Complex. That and the revenue they generate.

If you want to buy a club you are buying fields/field accesss, trainers, uniform contracts, league access and teams. As noted the tricky part is making sure the coaches and players dont try to jump ship.

In the last couple of years a lot of money was spread around LI to head coaches and club presidents to convince them to move their teams. Parents had no idea what was going on and just went along for the ride.

What these people never understand is that while you want your kid to have some spotlight, that isnt possible if you cause the team to collapse. If your kid is good, dont sweat there being other star players on the squad, it ony benefits them all to play and train with the best kids possible.

Parent insecurities get in the way of their child's development. Parents tend to be the biggest barrier for the kids--not the club / coach / or other teammates. I wholeheartedly agree with this and am chuckling a bit as we are in a situation where our daughter is the best kid on her team and there is 1 kid that comes close and the rest have their days but are nowhere near my daughter and her teammate in talent and skill. We are in the process of trying to find a new team for the fall to challenge her and have her develop / grow in an environment where she is surrounded by other players of equal talent and she is not the best player on the team.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 02/06/19 04:41 PM

Yes and these are still 11 year olds turning 12. You have to remember that some top kids fall and some middle tier kids rise so that at 14-15 things have changed substantially. To me that means be in situations where you're pushing. Between puberty, other activities, school and level of dedication things might change a lot for every player in a couple years. Jumping teams (unless necessary) because you feel threatened or forcing others off of the team for the same reason is silly. Find a place where your kid can be pushed and dont sweat trying to get rid of people better. As you go up the pyramid many of those people will still be around so if they're an obstacle eliminated today it doesnt mean they wont be right there at some other team next year.

Are you sure it's the other parent insecurities that are the problem? Sounds to me like if your daughter is really that much better...by this age you would have already moved onto a bigger/better club - or is it that you are unsure. Is the current team the only one she has played for? If she is happy and enjoying it, then her ability level (or the others on the team) shouldn't matter no?

This surf mess actually comes at the right time for this girls. This age group will be expanding their rosters in the fall and there will be teams looking to add quality players. Best Long Island teams in this age group are Susa and Albertson, so I guess the demographics will come into play.

Plenty of quality team in the area of Albertson that are far less political and less expensive but have quality trainers and good teams and I’m sure it’s the same in Suffolk, Susa isn’t the only option

Please name at least two teams that are better than Alby and Susa in Long Island. And I’m not just talking about wins in meaningless leagues, I’m talking about teams that compete and play good soccer.
By the way unfortunately every youth sport is political!

Playing good soccer and learning is all that matters at this point. Wins and losses don’t concern me as much as it does to you. I’m sure u will remember solids wins more then ur poor daughter will in a couple of years. EM has 2 good teams in this age group. Their A team is strong and their B team plays strong fundamental soccer and have a good team. MP is a decent team and move the ball nicely, auburndale has a good team. Hota doesn’t have a team for this year but their other girls teams are learning the rite way to play. Don’t really know Suffolk too well but if KK has a team this age I’m sure they are learning the correct way to play. Barca is drawing a crowds and I’m sure in time if the psycho parents are patient and don’t leave they will be good to as they play well too.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 02/10/19 01:09 PM

I’m pretty sure that Clarkstown Soccer Club that “ town team “ is a private soccer club of whom leases the Fields thru an lease agreement. They are not bound by “town” rules and local player numbers. There is a board I’m sure of local residence of whom by default like to keep a steady flow of locals thru the recreation program. Which in turn flow thru to the travel program. Correct me if I’m wrong ?

Selling the club ... there is probably a better chance in seeing god. But teams jumping ship has happened before and usually the result of a greedy coach with only their personal gain with no regards to the children.

The only thing Clarkstown needs is an avenue fior the kids past U13 otherwise it’s an excellent club. Great coaching and training, great supportive parents, smaller groups give personalize attention to your child.

The sale of a club is usually a liquidation sale when like LI there are too many clubs to close together

Just my 2 cents

Crazy ass parents and their crazy expectations and living thru their kids, would be much better if everyone realizes they don’t have the next Crystal Dunn...Let them learn the right way to play the game and have fun. It’s a shame that not all can think that way.

So the answer is no then. Best two teams in this age group are Susa and Alby.

They're the defending state cup champions. Not sure I would just write off the age group for them. They just happened to have moved a few kids up to play 06 ecnl this year.

One girl is playing up this year and she was not on the team last year. Money and parents in the coaches ear is what makes this team different than last year.

Seems to be a plague across more than just SUSA. Club my kid is at also has lots of meddling parents, constantly whining about their kids being on the 2nd squad or not getting PT at their favorite position, etc. Constant trouble from people unwilling to accept their kid isn't as good as they thought. Instead of having them compete they just call the coach or DOC.

Sad but very true. Parents threaten coaches with leaving if they can't get what they want and coach gives in. Kids don't have to try very hard, just get mommy to send a long e-mail and all will be resolved at the expense of others.

For some reason, the money guy put KB in charge, neither ding bat knowing anything about soccer (don't buy into his rhetoric about his wife playing for the NT). Lied about ECNL. Lied about DA. Lied about San Diego having their back. This was and is a toy for the money guy. And it's a real shame because they could have been a contender. Sky Blue cashes their check then gets in bed with NYSC. KB''s bridges are burned. Rude, nasty, arrogant.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 03/06/19 02:24 PM

I have witnessed exactly this happening (parents complaining to the coach and the coach caving in). From an objective point of view when I see a kid get the nod over another kid and its very clear that this should not be happening on a talent level and the commitment is the same for both players I question the integrity of the entire process. The good players see this and start having a foul opinion of the coach/the program. This only brings negative energy to the team and the player. As a coach and a player across multiple sports I never cave in to parents who's perspective is only about their kid and the short term. Allowing this to occur is only going to hurt the player and team. It sets a terrible precedent and the program is forever compromised. With that said we live in an imperfect world and Soccer on LI is full with parents who are simply so arrogant that most coaches are not well equipped (intelligence wise) or paid enough to tackle these nightmares on large SUV wheels.

So true! Reason why you always have the weakest player’s parents talking to the coach after every practice and after every game to try to keep their kids in the team. They want to create a bond so when tryouts come around their kids might have a chance over a more talented player.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 03/06/19 09:39 PM

Instead of having their kids practice they'd rather constantly be all over the coach. No wonder you see rumors start when mom waits for coach to chat after every session.

Poster asked for clarification and you ramble off something that just adds to the confusion. Don’t post if you are just going to post the obvious. Yes LI has a lot of options and that is a good thing.

Back to reality and the posters question which I am
Also interested in hearing why kids left the 2007 team as it is tryout season and people should clarify their statements or not post, sort of like your empty post.

Albertson u12 plays EDP, u14 and up plays DA.

Let's be real here... For the price you pay for SUSA, the training is way below average. Folks should be looking at the fact that the club has very few top teams. But they will have gorgeous fields!

07 Susa doesn’t seem to be doing as well as they did last year. Lots of rumors going around with that team, plus they just lost their NY Cup round of 16 game.
I’m not a big Albertson fan as a whole, but this age group seems to have it together (for now that is)

Where do you expect any organization to find "good" trainers? Amazon?

SUSA DOES have good trainers. Some kids maybe like yours aren't great athletes, or you have an agenda?

Actually, SUSA does have some exceptional trainers as do some other organizations, but I do agree in the big picture we don't. We do have a lot of accents training though!!

They do have some good trainers Larry I’m not taking that away. For instance there is one coach there who runs a good training session but to watch him coach is bad he sits in his seat the whole time. If you are getting paid that type of money don’t you feel during games he should be standing coaching off the ball?

The SUSA 07 team is still very good. One loss shouldn't completely take away everything the team has accomplished.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 04/09/19 01:49 PM

Susa 07 team is an awesome team!!! This goes to show that this age group is very competitive and full of talented young ladies.
Two of the favorite teams to make it to the NY cup semis are already eliminated.
Things like this is what makes this an awesome sport. Girls are going to work harder to beat those “elite teams” and prove to themselves that if they work hard, they’ll see results.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 04/12/19 01:34 AM

“Joystick” coaching might look good, but players should have freedom to play without the coach yapping. I applaud the coach sitting in the chair. Many “expert” and “professional” trainers do more harm than good by coaching during the game

Who are the two favorites eliminated - SUSA is the only team of note that lost. Please do not say you think that joke of a team Long Island Soccer Club was a favorite.

Best LI teams in this age group are Susa, Albertson, Surf. Best in NYC are Aurbundale and Manhattan.
LISC is nowhere near those clubs yet

Semis will be NYSC vs Alby and Clarkstown vs SUSA.
Definitely Clarkstown in the finals and not sure who’s the better teams for the other game.
Clarkstown wins cup regardless

Surf kids are all attending other practices before ECNL tryouts, don’t think they will even have an A team for the fall season, crazy how fast that fell apart.

I believe the post was in response to parents at surf going to other practices and that their A team might not have the same players next season as I have heard a lot of them are going to EM for Ecnl as I would assume nose are Nassau kids and Susa is too far to commit to and travel every week to practice there, to each his own!!

NYSC beat Manhattan and will be awaiting winner of Alby and Mineola. Susa vs Gold Coast is happening this Saturday.
It’ll probably be Alby vs NYSC and SUSA VS Clarkstown in semis

San Diego Surf had numerous chances to support the NY Surf and didn't do anything. Sadly, what could have been a killer club is killing the the players chances of playing at the high end. Surf is all about Bratti and his little Mia. Clearly, Surf is a dead end. Didn't some of their coaches jump ship or isn't that public yet?

I will wait until they announce their leaving. They want to hold their decision until the end of their season. I believe it is two coaches.

They want to keep info secret until players have already committed again, I'd imagine. Then when kids and parents are upset they can claim they didn't know or that it hadn't been completely decided.

If you are referring to the coaches when you write "they", no that is not the reason. The coaches do not want to upset the players...but then again, maybe the players know and are keeping that info on the DL.

It would be foolishish for any Surf player to resign until they find out or it is made public that the coaches are leaving.

BTW, Didn't Brooke, the Adlephi coach go elsewhere only to find out it was a worse move than Surf and did a 180?

I mean club mgmt, not the individual coaches. The Club leadership never wants to disclose that coaches, who parents and players may feel allegiance to, are leaving. The yalways hold that back until after the season ends and the kids have all signed.

The kids are not signed to anything. They're not property. Just dont pay 100% upfront and keep your options open if they pull a fast one.

My sources (2) tell me that Brooke was not enamored by Barca and may look elsewhere possibly LISC. Meanwhile the Surf '08 team is trying out at EM and LISC, the 07's have been at LISC for the past 3 weeks practicing. Lots of drama with the Surf 07's because of Bratti and I'm told that team, the 07's are done after this season.

In closing, the Surf 066 and 05 teams are being described to me as "wobbly."

There won’t be a competitive 07 Surf team this fall. I wish nothing but the best to these girls wherever they go after. KB ruined something that had lots of potential.
Tryouts are beginning for other clubs soon and hopefully the girls will find the right fit for them. There are lots of good options in Nassau and Suffolk

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 05/13/19 02:25 PM

I usually come on here to keep updated about tryouts, information about the leagues, etc.

Come on here and identify why someone is a bad coach or club admin. Use facts not insults and vague comments. Some of these "soccer experts" that are training these kids or running these clubs have zero business being around kids. Some give a terrible half hearted effort week after week and then yell and joystick the kids during every match. I will note others give a great training product however they shoot themselves in the foot almost every game with their yelling and joysticking.

Lets concentrate on demanding a better product and better atmosphere. Would you ever allow your child's teacher to yell over their shoulder while they are taking a test? Whether the yelling is directly at the child or child's teammates, its unacceptable and hostile. You will not get what you want acting like an out of control *ss towards these kids while they are sometimes making dozens of decisions a minute playing soccer and you're yelling technical corrections at them. Where the hell did these coaches get their licenses? Oh that's right a good portion of them hold no or very basic licenses.

Its completely embarrassing and sad what I am witnessing at my children's club and its not isolated. I can't mention the club because it will be filtered out. Coaches consider this a wake up call. One day you are going to make the wrong kid cry and the consequences will not be a stern email or phone call. Parents who get it and know the difference between a coach that cares and the others who have a totally different agenda we need to draw a line in the sand with our daughters or sons getting verbally harassed?

LOL on our team most of the parents complain because the coach isn't animated or screams enough, when he explained it's not his style and he likes the kids to make a decision, the response was why do we need to pay a coach then.

So let's put the puzzle together. She is the assistant at StonyBrook U. The head coach is now the EMSC coach for 02/03. Is Rory now going to Surf? The money guy there can sure afford him.

Larry, Who do you think will be the next DOC at Surf?

I dont think it will matter UNLESS it is a new face. The problem on the Island is that these clubs and academies recycle the same failed coaches and trainers.

It is my opinion, that for all the money you folks pay for soccer that LI should have a much higher quality coach/trainer population. There are very few quality coaches on Long Island. I can count them on both hands and have fingers leftover.

Nope Gary Sullivan signed up to coach/train the 2007 girls at EM next year, the post went out like middle of last week

I can't see that happening...why go somewhere that is less established and possibly unstable? I am sure not for money - he's probably making plenty where he is.

It is not Sullivan...whomever it is, is not going to change that club, at least not for quite a while, if ever. The Surf have had more rebirths than any other club, and all have failed. Changing one person will not change the management or ideology of the club.

NYSC beat Manhattan and will be awaiting winner of Alby and Mineola. Susa vs Gold Coast is happening this Saturday.
It’ll probably be Alby vs NYSC and SUSA VS Clarkstown in semis

Very interesting Cup this year.

Word around the campfire is he was offered that spot and didn’t take it. I’m sure he used it as leverage to have EM pony up more $. So with everything happening at surf maybe a certain Brazilian trainer saw the writing on the wall and got out before it turned into the hot mess that it is today. Nobody is perfect but maybe he saw things going on that he didn’t like and that’s why he wanted out.

The following information comes from a very reliable source.....

BOTN has learned that the big announcement at Surf is that Chris Smith and Mike Caputo are the changes coming to Surf.

Chris Smith will be the DOC and he will run the club, and Mike Caputo will fill the "college piece". So, does this excite you current Surfers and wannabe Surfers?

NYSC must be very good. Albertson doesn’t usually allow that many goals.

Susa and Albertson are the best teams in LI. Susa has been struggling as of late and if you look at their current respective seasons you'd have to say that Alby is the better one as of now. Let's see what happens next season when they all go to the bigger field.

Clarkstown kids would likely go WC if possible and then gravitate towards other northern NJ options. A really top player could go as far as PDA but match fit, Cedar Stars or STA would still be possibilities if willing to drive a little bit.

SUSA 07 having their players down at every other club could have a role. Atletico, EMSC, Fury, Smithtown are all seeing 07s around their facilities!

Fields. Resources. Etc. we have been told all games and practices at our main field are canceled for the remainder of the season because the County has declared the field unusable due to rain. I’m sure the 07 A team will find space somewhere but the rest of the kids are out of luck.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 06/02/19 03:58 PM

Its so weird, the negative postings from the "clarkstown parent" about leaving and training with WC coaches are all uploaded at times when the team is playing or traveling to games... seems like as earlier mentioned this is all FAKE NEWS. I can't see a parent on the sideline posting on Back of the net while the kids are playing a State Cup game. Also this whole exposure thing is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. They are 11/12 year olds and none are the next Messi good players who will play in college yes hopefully they continue to play till then but this whole idea parents have about kids getting exposure and scouted is ridiculous.

Reality is calling, time to pick up the phone

The Clarkstown 07s have had a great many victories but none greater than this one. Imagine having so much success that a grown man or woman is coming on an anonymous board and acting like they have a kid on the team. Winning Jeff Cup, EDP Memorial Day Tourney etc etc are all nice. But renting space in this person’s head is priceless!

dump and chase v build from the back? Personally I like the style that teaches the kids how to play and gets everyone involved. Wish they recorded these things and had them available on one site. Would be a good tool for teaching points for other teams and players. Would enjoy watching this final.

My guess is because they have 4 teams in this age group and they are 11/12 year old girls. A lot can change in a year at that age...
You'll probably see some movement and maybe even some new faces as they head to ECNL next year.

LI SOCCER CLUBS SUCK! there’s so much talent but these greedy clubs are only concern about money.
Susa=too many teams per age group. Excellent “A” team but fell apart for unknown reasons.
Alby=excellent team in this age group but through the roof financially
EMSC=not much to show in this age group
LISC=Not established yet, but have a feeling it’ll be just like the above clubs
SURF=had potential but BYE BYE. Irrelevant!

There is no way Clarkstown loses, whether they are folding or not they are still the best team in New York.

Why would Clarkstown fold? They have the best trainer around. They are also if not the best team in the country one of the top three.

Would be a good tool for teaching points for other teams and players. Would enjoy watching this final.

Welp, if there’s a recording of this game somebody should burn it. Nobody is gonna learn anything from it. I tip my hat to Clarkstown, I don’t love the style of play either but that team is dominant. At the end of the day they have high end players all over the field.

Done deal. That team is finished and a bunch are going to world class. They had an excellent run of results over the past two years.

Because this is how the soccer world is. Long island has been like that for years. Parents always looking for something better and not realizing what they have in front of them. When our girls are 18 we will realize how stupid we where.

Or perhaps they enjoyed the run and understand that style of soccer doesn't translate to the big field and 11v11. You can't constantly give up possession of the ball and expect to be successful. This works with 12 year old girls who are more prone to mistakes on their own side of the field. The coach is all about winning and less about player development. He's an absolute master at teaching this style and there's no arguing it. His players are great at fielding aerial balls and returning the ball up to the 2 or 3 playmakers up front. If I was a parent of a player at the defense side I would've moved clubs a while ago.
That said - Congrats on the excellent season. Good luck the rest of the way. Represent our state well at regionals.

I believe that The move to WC was initiated by the Clarkstown coach for a couple of the top players. If true, I commend him. Moving to the larger field next year, Clarkstown can't offer leagues or facilities, and the girls need to improve their technical aspect of the game. WC has a great coach for that at the 07 age group.

Re: G2007 GU12 Fall 2018/Spring 2019 - 06/21/19 06:10 PM

After reading a few takes about how the Clarkstown 07 team would fare on the "big field" I decided to do some research. As opposed to speculating I opted for facts and this is what I came up with.....

It appears the Clarkstown '07 coach also coaches the Clarkstown '06s. So with minimal research on GotSoccer checking the '06 game history it would appear that this style of play not only translates to the big field, it's quite effective. The '06 team apparently won the EDP National Premier Division 1 Spring League, triumphed at the EDP Memorial Day tournament, handily won the NY State Cup and are currently set to appear in the semi-finals of the US Youth National EDP Conference Cup in July. Furthermore, the game history reveals the Clarkstown 06 team is winning these games against high level competition.

Now I'm not an expert and I'm not entirely sure what all this means, but I'm pretty sure they've figured how to play soccer on a big field.

This take is hilarious. If you watched Clarkstown play and all you walked away with is "it is easy to play big kick soccer on the small field" than you're really lost. I don't have a dog in the fight but I've seen them play multiple times and that team has legit players all over the field. I don't love firing shots off from the parking lot either but pay attention, those kids whether it be at Clarkstown or WC are gonna be good players. You think those kids aren't gonna have a clue when they play on the big field??? They haven't lost a game in over a year, it's not by accident. You don't win consistently against EVERYBODY playing big kick soccer. C'mon man, it's a good team. It's okay to admit it. I do.

You don't have a kid on the team but still watch them play. Little strange no matter what you say, but fits with the parent landscape nowadays

As a matter of fact, it’s not hard to imagine at all. My daughter has played against them at least 4x, maybe 5. After having the same kick and run analysis early on I basically realized after multiple losses that they were actually pretty darn good.

Everyone here talks out of their ass. At the beginning of the season there were people posting how Clarkstown was done in the Fall, how Susa was the next best thing, and how Albertson was overrated. Well, Clarkstown still dominating, Susa was a no show, and Albertson had a very good season.

SUSA definitely fell apart and that was realy weird to see but they spread their players too thin. 2007s should have stayed in 2007 teams. Albertson is a good team and going to get better as they had a very good turnout at tryouts from other clubs. Clarkstown did what they do. They won a lot but I wonder what they'd be like without their main super star player. She is amazing.

She's staying. Every starter with the exception of one (a great player) is staying. Think they are playing up. Wish them well.

This will be one team to watch. If they indeed lost all of their top players I’ll be curious to see how they do next season. If they somehow are successful that would mean all these people are wrong or they have the strongest bench in youth soccer. Guess we’ll find out!

A lot of good players and families left because the DOC Nir Sveri at this age group is a crappy human being. Creates more drama/problems than the worst of parents. To top it off after all his talk his training is recreational level not Academy level. Most healthy families end up leaving opposed to having their kids or themselves exposed to this type of person. He has true Napoleon complex.

Sad. My daughter's team played SUSA a bunch over the past few years and the blue team was always really good. This year it seemed like the few times they played it was a different allocation of players almost every time.

The truth is that every kid that left in this age group left because they didn’t make the top team, except for ONE. Can’t put everybody on the top team and, SUSA or anyone else certainly can’t make all the parents or players happy.

Have to love the snake oil salesman at Met Oval Jeffry and Filipo. The just started a new girls program and told all the parents that Met Oval is guaranteed to get girls DA since the boys have it. I think they have zero chance given that is just what Long Island does not need is yet another DA girls program.

Filipo and Jeffrey can try all they like with their puppet Yannick but in Long Island and Nassau they will find no success, clubs like LISC and FC SESA have lockdown on outdoor and indoor soccer fields and without fields Met Oval will do NADAAA, plus I hear FC SESA DOC former Gottschee coach knows the Met Oval fools very well and he knows how to counter their BS. Megan Frey also will know how to deal with these clowns. Filipo is crap level and Yannick another Kozy wanna be haha. Good luck fools!
