From reading so many posts from parents who like to brag, as well as the academies, which also like to brag about being recruited by a D1 school educate yourself because a D1 school is not the be-all and end-all.

Just because the college is D1 does not make it a great college. An example would be Johns Hopkins, which is a D3 college, but at the very top of the academic schools in this country, and there are lots and lots more like Hopkins, especially the Ivy League schools.

Instead of getting jerked around by these in name only soccer academies, I suggest you start at the link below and educate yourself and not let these charlatans at the soccer academies convince you otherwise.

Good thread Larry! My daughter was recruited by D1 D2 and D3 schools. She was offered a spot on one of the top D3 schools in the country. Her financial aid offer was really good from that school....BUT...her top school choice with the best academic ratings was a D1 school and the coach had little interest in her as a soccer player. They offered her a great academic scholarship and she chose to go there. She played club soccer so I cannot call her an NCAA student-athlete...could not say she was a college soccer player...but that's OK because now I can call her by another name....Doctor.
