Isn’t ECNL considering letting more clubs attain ecrl status?
I was of the understanding that that has started happening in other parts of the country.
I noticed on the ECNL site a team getting congratulated for being “promoted”

Who cares! So is Albertson, East Meadow. Long Island doesn’t need another ECNL team. East Meadow is struggling outside of NY because the talent in Nassau is diluted by all these other clubs. Out east, there is no one to compete with SUSA hence why they are the strongest program in NY. But even so, they struggle as well. We can’t compete with many clubs outside of NY. So even if East Coast acquires ECNL (which they’re not) they won’t be able to compete against clubs from other states. It’ll just be another program stealing your money. Wake up sheep.

I heard ECNL was making another division on top of the RL division. 3 divisions total seems Is that true?

ECNL's announcements seem to be outside of the northeast and also seem to be promotions of ECRL clubs that didn't have ECNL status. Or they are announcing promotions of clubs into ECRL. Locations seem to be Texas and Florida so far but I haven't seen where they have accepted any clubs straight from an EDP type league directly into ECNL. I wouldn't count on that happening even if your club director is floating that.

East Coast is just fine in EDP club division and their 2nd team is excelling in the last division of EDP as well. Relegation has a way of working wonders for a team. Developing they are not, but losing every game has ceased for the time being.

What happened to the Met Oval/East Coast/ Surf G2009 team this weekend? Word is they got crushed.

I guess the same could be said for the 09 and 2010 Girl East Meadow ECNL teams. They were also destroyed. 1 tournament doesn’t define a team

They did, but credit to them for sticking it out in the flight they were put in. PDA had to give their ECNL South team a chance to win something and to avoid Blue/White/South meeting one another. They drew the unlucky straw and were put in the 2nd flight. You know if that had happened to the LI Slammers, bid daddy LA Slammers would be on the phone to PDA begging to put their red headed step-child in a lower flight as to not embarrass the Slammers name.

The 10 EMSC clearly had a tough weekend, but the 09 teams did not get destroyed unless you consider 2-3, 0-0, and 0-1 getting destroyed...

I do agree with you that one tournament does not define a team though. Surf got two ECNL teams and a very good Alleycats team that won teh bracket...

EM are an embarrassment to ECNL teams. The 09 team played in a lower division against EDP team that are supposed to be a weaker league. They should have for the least come away unbeaten.

Yeah, because the LA Slammers care about what is happening on the other side of the country. Take your "moral" victories and hope it translates to actual wins.

This is correct.

Some clarification, this is not a 3rd ECNL league. This expands the current regional league, with a pathway to club promotion to full ECNL. These new Regional clubs will be playing with the existing regional teams from SUSA, where ATM cards call home and EMSC next year. This should make those parents happy because it will cut down on travel.

This is a good move, allowing clubs to prove themselves before being given full ECNL status. The thing ECNL should have done simultaneously was announce a demotion system for underperforming clubs currently in ECNL. There is no motivation for clubs like EMSC to produce winning teams if there are no consequences for producing poor teams.

Anyway you cut it. This is the best EC could have hoped for. We need to see what they can do with it and if they are able to attain promotion in a few years.

What exactly does "pathway to club full promotion?" Are some teams from a club participating in ECNL or all age groups? Will East Coast Boca go to ECNL and not the lower teams?

I only saw an announcement for the EC girl's side. I have not seen anything regarding the boy's side though I assume they will also be joining. Each club fields only one team in each age group for ECNL RL. What team they field is up to them.

The new clubs will only participate in ECNL RL with the opportunity to be promoted later to play in ECNL also. I have no idea what the criteria for that would be, says the opportunity is there. If you look at ENCL's most recent news, you can see they announced several clubs in the Texas region that received a promotion to full ECNL for next year. So it does happen just not sure what they base it on.

from what I saw and what I understand of the structure of ECNL/RL...it is the addition of another regional league. Presently there is a North Atlantic and a New England Regional League in ECRL. This is being labeled as the Northeast Regional League...so probably a mixture of clubs (perhaps some unhappy with USYS E64 or extended travel in being in the New England Regional League) coming together and a new regional league being created. just a hunch. If teams prove themselves to be successful they could receive invitations for ECNL.

Otherwise, this is a load of BS that you have been going around on various soccer boards and promulgating now for weeks. There is no such thing as a Northeast Regional League. This is a cached page from the ECNL website from years ago when they were considering that name for this region, which they opted not to use. For reference, please go to World Class's website, when they announced that their "B" teams would be joining ECRL. They announced they would be joining the Northeast Regional League. This is from 2019.

Is ECNL looking to expand in this region? Probably, since they only have 8 clubs in the conference after they moved PDA to the North Atlantic conference. Will they expand to LI? No. Why? You have one club (SUSA, where ATM cards call home) who performs, let's be generous, and say well and another (EMSC) that is a dumpster fire. In what universe, does adding another club from the same small geographic area make sense? It does not. They would add teams from upstate NY or other parts of the territory such as RI, VT, ME.

In addition, please go to the ECNL application, which can be easily found on their website. Go look at their criteria for entry into the league. Can you with a straight face say that they (NY Surf) have a history of success and the infrastructure for ECNL/ECRL?

You are obviously from Surf, be it a parent or administrator, and are trying to drum interest in tryouts because this year has not gone well for you and you are trying to recruit new players.

Let me add another point to your well thought out and rational post. My understanding, and I’ve been told by a source that should know, that all of serfs players are now carded with East Coast, so that makes me wonder exactly what does surf have to do with getting admitted to any league since they no longer control players, they have no positive track record, and they have no infrastructure.

In my opinion, Surf, as a club is in soccer hospice.
