Hold on…. part of the conversations with the merger of Surf and EC were conversations with California Surf about squeezing EC Surf into the ECNL in lieu of East Meadow.
The issue for East Coast would be facilities and the DOC with an A license and probably other areas that I am not familiar with, but be very clear, East Coast is laser focused on ECNL.
Do I think they will get it? No. Slammers also saying they are getting it in next 2 years. How can the Slammers be considered for ECNL when they have to beg Smithtown for field space. Slammers in California is a top 5 ECNL club in the country(not opinion fact). LI Slammers had a few nationally recognized teams and college commitments. EC and NY Surf have no track record of development. Only drawback as Larry said is proximity to SUSA. Unless EC is going to buy their way in like SUSA I don't see it.

yes SLAMMERS said would have in 2 years, 4 years ago... I'm indifferent to the Slammers but they've only been around for 3 years as a functioning club. At least, cut them that slack. Also, having said that, I was in a meeting when Slammers was brought to our club (which we no longer belong to) and I asked was the endgame to get ECNL. They (the club's board) were very circuitous in their answer and did not either say yea or nay. Just that Slammers would get the players into better leagues and tournaments without definitely saying ECNL. Now, we've been gone for years now and it is possible that is what they're selling now but it was not what they were selling in its infancy. As to the point of EC/Surf or Slammers getting ECNL in the near future, go look at the ECNL application and the criteria for acceptance. I would say easily in 3 to 4 areas (out of 6) that both clubs are severely lacking (history of player development, history of success, licensing of coaches and infrastructure). In other words, they are not getting ECNL/ECRL this year or for several years. Honestly what good is it for the Long Island Slammers to shoot for ECNL or MLS Next like they are in. The players they have are basically 3rd division EDP level. Why go into these leagues to get killed 6-0 every week. Nobody gets anything out of that. It's not fair to anyone that they are in MLS Next. The oponents travel for nothing and it's a waste of time for them. The kids on Slammers must hate soccer after a while if they're having to endure beat down week I'm and week out. The parents pay a fortune

cmon now... there is zero chance that is true. First off, there had to have been a signed contract. And if there wasn't Landtek (and EMSC) are incredibly stupid. Second, Landtek isn't just walking away from 1.2 million break of K without a fight. There'd be a lawsuit filed and there is no lawsuit filed (I checked). Third, signing a contract and then having your costs go up (which is what I bet happened if this allegation is true) isn't being screwed by EMSC. It's bad contract drafting. Called LandTek on their main line and was sent to someone high up that confirmed that the East Meadow Soccer project left a bitter taste in their mouth. Without much detail they were clear on what was agreed on materialized as a nightmare with the club not being forthcoming with the bill. LandTek said that the funding source disappeared and East Meadow Soccer were unable to honor their financial obligations for the job. They did not want to release any names or amounts just the general account above. Take it for what it is but something went down between East Meadow and LandTek for the renovation at the Stan R-Field of Dreams. Maybe someone who knows about this from the club will give some clarity on what really happened. Above seems to be 1 side of the story. Can you call SUSA and find out why their parking lots are still a mess while you're at it?

They said they are waiting on Ruairi's payment for sending his best 2010 and 2009 girls to play with SUSA NL in exchange for SUSA sending 10 girls to his private Elite training held in December. Gotta keep the parents money flowing between clubs, what else do you expect? Maybe you should just write a check to fix EM and SUSA parking lots while you are at it, keep that soccer money flowing.

Slammers, East Coast, Surf, in reality, can somebody explain to me what makes any of those organizations special? And as far as Susa goes, smoke and mirrors again even with the ECNL, which in my opinion, an organization they are embarrassing. Larry there is nothing special about these clubs. I've been in this game a long time and the whole landscape of LI soccer has changed, and not for the better. The sheep (parents) hear about the latest great trainer that can get their kid a scholarship and the flock moves from Shepherd to Shepherd. the Shepherds cleverly tell the sheep "Look what I did - I made this player into a superstar and he/she got a full ride to Soccer University"...often in an English accent. In the old days it was PR - the Little Leprehcaun himself...then it was Tim Bumbleberry in RVC was the BEST...then it was World Class FC was the BEST...then SURF...then SESA...then SUSA...Then SASA-SISA-SOSA...and the flock went from each Acronym to the next shedding their child's friendships and their $$...while all the time there weren't many players moving on past where they would have ended up if the sheep had stayed in their own pastures and kept more of their $. And soon there were more and more Shepherds and the flock became more and more divided. And they had to create more and more Leagues so the sheep had more options, all the while diluting the talent pool that was necessary to compete on a National level and fewer sheep ended up on the greenest pastures. BTW - SESA was pretty good in it's time and Joe is a good guy

Yes sports were better when everyone stayed and played with their home town teams, but like a lot of thinks that is no longer the case. What does it matter to you where I choose to spend my money. My my point of view if you have a refrigerator full of beer you are wasting your money, if you head off to the casino or smoke a little dope, I think you are wasting your money. I choose to spend my disposable income on letting my daughter do something that she loves with a group of girls she enjoys being around. People need to stop with the holier then thou responses on this boards. I'm sure there are a lot of things you do in your life that I would consider a waste of money.

It’s just silly that Barca does not have any league they want. It’s like the Yankees going to Spain, but Spain does not allow them into youth leagues. Every coach is uefa licensed. The majority are right out of La Masia. 90% of people involved in soccer on LI don’t even know what La Masia is. …the quicker we get them leagues the quicker LI becomes significant.

Barca on LI, you're really serious? Didn't Juventus try the same thing? Barca is almost bankrupt. Remember, they couldn't even afford to pay the great Messi. From what I understand, no one invited to train at La Masia is paying even 1 penny. Guess they figured they could raise some more $ buy bring their system to the U.S., too bad no one is interested and why they've been a JOKE on the girls side since day 1 of their arrival.
