Manhattan grabbed 3 local (Metro NY) players - from Met Oval and NYSC

Queens took 2 and are waiting on a 3rd

No. You are the only one in history to ever play over the winter. What a lucky guy you must be

I'm just curious because most of the kids play club ball or lacrosse or baseball. Last practice we had maybe 13 kids and its not like our High School School team is winning any championships soon.

It is against the rules of NYS to have practices overseen by the coach out of season in high school. Specific rules are instituted for football and only in August. Any other practices are forbidden. That's why some schools have "captain's" practices offseason. They are not allowed to overseen by the coach.

Not sure where you got your information from??? That rule was overturned about 15 years ago.

A paragraph from NYSPHSAA rule book below. The rest of the information is readily available and very clear. Coaches may not have mandated practice outside of the season. It is pretty clear in the handbook.
Nothing was overruled or changed 15 years ago.
It is still not within the rules of the NYSPHSAA.

Just sayin.

c. School sponsored activities conducted out of the sport season such as general conditioning,
weight training, weight lifting, intramurals, recreation, open gyms, club activities and camps are
permitted:
1. if such programs are not mandated by coaches or school personnel;
2. if such programs are available to all students.

It seems like the college commitments for LIplayers is nonexistent this year after 2 years of a lot of commitments. Ronkonkoma, Barca, Amityville, SUSA are top local teams and not many kids committing. Any reason why such a big drop off this year?

Ronkonkoma has at least one kid going D1, one kid going D2 and I believe one going D3. Not sure about the rest. Their ex-goalkeeper is going D1 in basketball.

It's sad all the time and money and this is the best LI can do. Really sad that SUSA has such a poor track record of placing players in college. You would think all the time those coaches spend recruiting players to pay all that money to be part of an ECNL team the coaches would help them move on.

The time and money spent is the family’s choice. My son plays at SUSA and has gotta tons of help with his college process. He will be committed soon , why you care about how people spend their money Is the real question. We have made great friends and have many memories of the years on a soccer field. My son will now go on and play college soccer Which we will attend as many games as possible. I think you should worry about your kid and stop hating what others do for their child . Soccer on Long Island at a top level cost money. Even if he is a top player and gets help from a club , you have travel and hotels and tournaments and hanging with people drinking and eating. It’s all a choice , my son could have played top level Lacrosse and the money to play is higher. I have friends who kids play hockey and forget about that price.Have you ever priced out a drum set or a Violin ?? It all comes down to we do for our kids , I’m sorry what I do brothers you so much . But the time with my boy on the field and at tournaments is priceless. So I work a little harder and I provide him a great experience. I hope you do the same with your kid.

Yo parent, college isn’t picked because your kid can play soccer there. You pick a college for academics. And looking at the list of colleges that players at Susa are attending ain’t worth the money that you’re spending.

Maybe it’s OK for your kid to go to a school that ranks in the 200s it clearly wasn’t for me And people I associate with which find all of those schools totally unacceptable that we see listed by Susa and social media. You may think it’s worth the money, and I guess it’s yours to piss away, it would’ve been better spent being put into a college fund and to see that your kid could get better grades, and you would be advocating for the academics and not shilling for Susa.

The amount of judgement in either case - not all kids are gifted students either so "pissing" money away for 100 points on an SAT from 1050 to 1150 may not seem worth it either. There are some colleges ranked in the 200's because obviously there is a need for these schools and students going there.

To be honest everyone goes to school for different reasons. Maybe some people do go to school for soccer and a degree.....any degree as it seems like a minimum requirement these days. People may not be interested in a 70+K high academic school. And the reality is going to a better school doesn't guarantee anything in life or career.

If you have been completely frugal in your life and haven't spent on things you or your family enjoy that's on you and the people you associate with.

I don't have skin in the game with Susa or the area. I have a son who will be playing college soccer at a high academic school but I can also look at things objectively.

Larry , all due respect but you don’t know my son or his grades. He will go to a good school. The school of his choice , he will play on a solid team and he will advance his academics , it’s his choice and I will be able to make that happen. His future is laid out and his plan is in motion. His plan !! His choice !!
You had your kids go to the school they wanted to go to and that’s great. Not everyone wants to be in a Ivy League school , even though my son had his choice. I know you are the know all guy who talks about everyone’s choice , but it’s their choice. We have also had a college fund for him since the week he was born , so again I am able to send him anywhere he wants to go , but also again. His choice.

Live and let live.

It's more about SUSA and other clubs selling false promises. It is your choice to do what you want, but to stick up for a club that recruits players making promises of high level training and college opportunity. SUSA offers neither, the college commitment list is lower then other clubs that cost a fraction. Just curious why would you want your kid to go to a lesser academic school. How does that help his future plans?
