BOTN does not post obits of those involved in youth soccer, however, in this case I am pasting the note about John from the LIJSL because I dealt numerous times with John, and he truly was the right guy in the right place, for all the right reasons. Clearly, a loss in general to youth soccer, and to the East Islip SC. I'm sure those of you that dealt with John over the years have had the same experience as I did.

The Long Island Junior Soccer League is saddened to hear about the loss of Hall of Fame member John Deutsch.

Deutsch was a longtime volunteer at both Massapequa and East Islip Soccer Clubs and was inducted into the LIJSL Hall of Fame in 2017.

He brought his vibrant and warm personality to any room, making friends wherever he went.

Deutsch lived by these words from Maya Angelou:

“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. People will never forget how you made them feel.”

He will certainly be missed and the LIJSL sends. its condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
