Truth. Also, it was a showcase and not a tournament and the matchups were strategic and intended to be even competition. An RL team beat a GA team but I wouldn't read too much into that.

I saw that SUSA's 08 team played both Penn Fusion and PDA Blue at PDA's main complex. Not sure if any college coaches were there, though.

Its likely there are kids still playing on town teams who can play ECNL. Not every family has the disposable income to spend for their kid to play soccer. Its also likely their are parents who don't have the disposable income who are paying for their child to play ECNL with the hopes of the non-existent "FULL RIDE".

Your choice of “Suzy” shows how out of touch you really are. Get a grip on reality!

You're such an idiot, you referred to me as "douche" yet you have a problem with me using the term "Suzy" (spelled wrong on purpose). I have to get a grip on reality, are you serious. My kids actually have a damn shot, as SLIM as it may be. Your kid has NO CHANCE so you need to get a grip on the reality, you are the typical sore loser RL parent who really thinks their little Suzy belongs on the ECNL team. Little Suzie might be just as good as the 17th and 18th rostered player, that's your rationale right? Who cares!

Just jumping in on this feud. Here is my take on the reality. Its hard enough for ECNL players to get recruited, a league with nearly 100 teams. Doing the math with a roster of 18 , that's approximately 1800 players in each ECNL age group. Then you have the GA which is close to ECNL in terms of size (approx. 100 teams), so that's another 1,800 08' players. Both of these leagues are definitely considered to be better than RL, just ask any college coach. Where does that really leave players in the RL league in terms of being recruited? I'll happily admit, this is a huge financial commitment for something that has close to zero return for the majority of players and parents. But, maybe with really good grades, soccer is the reason why our kids get into a better academic school.

That team will fold next year. Top players will leave to SUSA or EM when they realize they can’t in GA anymore.

You must be a very very wealthy man? A person like you that can see the future must be more successful in the stock market than Warren Buffett!

Not everybody’s running to Susa or East Meadow unless their ECNL teams carry a roster of 75+ players. The odds are in their favor, if they go there they’ll see very little playing time if any. That’s just how it is.

This guy for the win. It's simple math. I'm also going to add, if you're 1 thru 15 on an ECNL team, play RL. You're not getting any quality minutes after player 15. Be a starter on an RL team at least you'll be seen.

At least one of their top players already left for SUSA. Will the grass be greener there?

Why won’t they be able to play in the GA?

And if your child is a C student it will be very hard to secure a roster spot at most schools. Coaches do not want to waste time with kids who many not be able to stay eligible. There is so much talent out there that have grades have become a HUGE part of the recruiting process.

Just trying to understand if there is a major difference between ECNL and GA here on Long Island at this age group and based on these results it seems there is not.

NEFC is a better, more well established club than SUSA, so no surprise here.

Heard it was 3-0 going on 7/8 - 0. JR must be getting practice in before he destroys the ‘09 team next year.

As said before, I think some of the EDP teams in this age can hang with local GA and ECNL teams.

ECNL & GA are merely national league platforms. On LI, EM and SUSA play in ECNL while LISC plays in the GA (Girls Academy). SUSA is the strongest team in this age group, and it's not even close or up for debate. I have daughters in both ECNL and LISC and LISC is behind SUSA and EM in team strength/depth in the 2008 age group. That's a truly unbiased opinion having watched ALL 3 teams compete.
