If you’re all going to beat this to death, at least frame the conversation off of the premise that nobody gets promoted/relegated into or out of Club v Club. Period. Clubs apply to become members of Club v Club on the commitment that they’ll field a team at every age group.

USYS NAC Premier 1 and 2 are not Club based competitions. They are team based competitions where the best in Premier 2 get promoted to Premier 1 and those that struggle in Premier 1 get relegated to Premier 2.

If DUSC’s 2009 team moved from Club v Club to Premier 1, the club chose to make that move. It wasn’t forced upon them by USYS NAC. The Club v Club divisions often have one or more very talented teams that could hold their own with (or beat) Premier 1 competition. Brentwood’s B2008 team is a good example. But overall, there are too many clubs in Club v Club that roll out teams that just couldn’t compete in Premier 1 to say that Club v Club is on par with Premier 1.

Some clubs (cough… East Coast) may even be sticking their “A” teams in Club v Club rather than Premier 1 because they’d rather pad their records with wins against the Club v Club have-nots than struggle in Premier 1.

Spot on about EC on this one. They struggled big time last season in EDP and decided to lick their wounds and play in a friendlier league where they can beat up on Brooklyn Italians.

You’re referring to the 2009’s. They finished first, winning 5 of 8 matches in the spring. Great season. Good for the boys. But their 2008’s finished in 5th place in Premier 1, the 2007’s finished fourth in the third division, the 2006’s finished third in the Premier 2, and their 2005’s finished third in the Premier 2.

So, in hindsight, I’ll admit that I was wrong. EC isn’t pulling all of their A teams from Premier 1 to go Club v Club. Most of them weren’t there to begin with.

Barca bragging they beat the EC B team is quite telling of how far theyve fallen off. Poor Barca
