Last week, on September 22, the EDP (Warren Mersereau), the CJSL (Ron Restrepo), and the NYCSL (Gary Grossman), filed a grievance to take over the soccer operations of the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association, (ENYYSA). This grievance seems to culminate a yearlong push by these entities to legitimize the NYCSL as a legitimate USYSA league, allow the CJSL to either receive whole or in part registrations dollars, and for EDP to take over the Long Island and remaining ENYYSA leagues and territory.

I point to the links below under references because this is been an ongoing fight which the Back of THE NET started reporting literally more than a year ago when Gary Grossman falsely claimed that his NYCSL was a legitimate USYSA league, sanctioned under the CJSL. It wasn't.

What is this all about? The answer is simple. Money, registration money, and lots of it. The CJSL found a windfall of registration dollars with NYCSL/Grossman that they probably would never have seen from their own league, which has limited teams, registrations, and limited resources.

Factoring into that part of the story, Grossman formed a partnership with the EDP when his league was failing because the EDP was putting him out of business. Am I making sense so far?

In the past months, EDP had filed to become a league within ENYYSA. In order for EDP to be granted league status inside of ENYYSA, it is the member leagues of ENYYSA that get to vote yea or nay, and in the case of EDP they were handsomely denied acceptance.

So EDP headed by Warren Mersereau, along with Gary Grossman and the CJSL, are now attempting to wield their power within USYSA by filing a grievance to replace the current board of ENYYSA with their own acolytes. Does any of this sound familiar based on our current national politics?

I guess the bottom line for the current teams and clubs playing within the ENYYSA leagues, and the leagues themselves are waiting for the decision of this grievance committee. I am of the understanding that it will be sometime in November when a decision by the grievance committee is reached.

So, what do you think, and what is your opinion? Please post your thoughts. We’d all like to know.

Disgusting greed and power! This should reveal the true colors of EDP and Grossman as greedy little scum bags! No care about the kids just their parents money. Let’s hope this gets unanimously shot down and teams leave these leagues. This will backfire!

In my opinion, I do think that EDP will fail and in that case nothing changes. Should the grievance committee side with EDP and EDP takes over ENYYSA, they can change the bylaws and change in totality the structure of EasterN New York as it stands now.

Should EDP take over THE Eastern New York Soccer Association they'll put in their own board of acolytes and do whatever it is that will best benefit them.

This is about power and money, this is not about your kids or youth soccer. This is a multi-million dollar business that you, as parents, are financing.

Is SUSA involved in this? Did Larry make a post about the guy who runs SUSA calling ENYYSA the mafia or was it the president of ENYYSA who was the mafia? Sent from the Back of “THE NET”

No, SUSA is not directly involved, although it is my educated opinion knowing the close relationship SUSA has with EDP and Gary Grossman coupled with Moussa Sy's documented anti-ENYYSA comments that they are both supportive and hopeful that Grossman and EDP succeed...my 2 cents

Should EDP etal., become successful the new board can draft and set of by-laws and erase LIJSL, or alter any aspect of LIJSL and the other leagues within ENYYSA, and the CJSL which now appears to be the outlier ENYYSA league would become top dog. Again, my 2 cents.

If they succeed, it will mean disaster for the future. This wreaks of money-hungry scavengers never having enough.

I'm sure US Club would gladly welcome LIJSL and it's thousands of teams if EDP were to accomplish such a thing. Most of the rest of the ENNYSA leagues would also follow suit.

While you make a very valid point I’m going to disagree with you. The WYSL just left US club to come back into eastern New York and USYSA. The reason is that US club and its involvement with Gary Grossman and the former NYSCL league left a bad taste in everybody’s mouth.

Couple that with the sharing of the US club registrations database via Grossman to the Barca organization when they came on the scene still has a lot of clubs pissed off.

Sadly, US club does not have their [****] together which is why other than the ECNL teams on the island, US club has all but abandoned the first and top market in the country.

Make no mistake about it, the CJSL along with their embedded ally Gary Grossman, and the soccer whores at EDP are looking to monopolize and control prices in this market place.

Should this CJ SL, EDP, and Gary Grossman be successful it will not be good news for youth soccer on the island and parents should start looking at other youth sports has strong alternatives to youth soccer.

This is the perfect storm that has been evolving, festering and accelerating as the YOUTH SOCCER INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX continues to explode. All of this could have been predicted. It has been subsidized by the explosive growth of affluent parents seeking the holy grail of youth soccer by spending thousands of dollars a year per child.

Increasing numbers of tournaments, for profit leagues, clubs, training vendors, etc. continue to grow their revenues every year. Fool people in to thinking they need 3 referees for a U10 game and make the referee shortage even worse.

Fast forward to today-when you make it all about the money when large soccer organizations gain this type of financial power they now have the resources to try and do whatever it takes to gain more influence and power in order to grow even bigger to maintain their position.

We in the soccer community have created this situation and it should not surprise anyone.

I’m just a soccer referee and a tiny cog in this puzzle. Just calling it like I see it just like when I work a game.

What do our children really want and need from the beautiful game? Are we delivering on that?

Larry, unfortunately, the leadership at USYS has allowed all of this to take place while watching from the sidelines and providing very little to nothing oversight, guidance, or direction. Looking forward to the next chapter when EDP becomes its own sanctioning body and goes head to head with USYS and US Club Soccer. USYS has no one to blame but itself. In short, USYS has allowed EDP to go head to head and take over NJ, NY, CT, etc. How effective is the new USYS president? The Grossman saga will carry on.

That really sums it all up. The last USYSA administration gave into the EDP sales pitch and current group with Skip Gilbert at the helm have been impotent. You are correct in your analysis of EDP becoming a sanctioning body. It is just a matter of time, and not a long time at that. The problem, one of the problems I should say is that the paying public (parents) have no idea what this will all mean as they continue to fund this farce which is close to becoming an all out grift.

I think it is more than fair to include the CJSL as a very willing accomplice.

By dismantling the NE state associations, EDP could very well squash USYS in its entirety. I don’t think Skip Gilbert has a clue of the incoming height of the tidal wave he has helped create. US Club Soccer lost the NE a few yrs ago and they won’t be able to penetrate the marketplace any time in the future. EDP owns the NE now. There's enough material and drama for an entire season of reality TV.

Seems EDP has been busy pissing other organizations off. I wonder if wonder boy, and soccer sissy, Warren Mersereau would like to share the lawsuit brought against EDP and USYSA from a tournament competitor this past may which I'm told cost USYS about 1 million in attorney fees and what they had to pay to the tournament operator which was the plaintiff.

This EDP/USYSA deal doesn't appear to be kosher. Someone on the USYSA part is either stupid or was taken care of...my opinion and 2 cents.

CJSL provided the vehicle for Grossman to issue his infamous statement, our preferred carding entity. What a joke. Is CJSL getting $$?

[i] Is CJSL getting $$?[/] WTF do you think? Yes they are. You didn't think they were doing all this for the kids, did you? CJSL swallowed the hook so deep that Grossman must still be wetting his pants. Clearly, those boys are being blinded by money the league never expected nor would they be able to get on their own.

I know Skip Gilbert, the president of USYSA has read the above post numerous times, as have the EDP folks especially Warren Mersereau. Funny, really, how none of those involved in the screwing over of the kids and parents dont have the balls to confront me, yet I'm told they are bitching and complaining about me and the BOTN claiming this is all BS and I'm just trying to get folks to generate hits...more of their BS as they grift on.

Larry if CJSL is a nonprofit entity, who is getting this $$? Or is CJSL a private business?

CJSL can get the money and I'm of the belief from sources that they are. Being a non-profit is a non-issue in this instance.

Yes. I also have been in receipt of email replies from other state associations commenting on the subject matter of the original post. Every state association, as well as the USYSA, EDP, and CJSL have read the original post, which was emailed out by BOTN, and confirmed that the email was opened and read usually numerous times.

This is no joke, nor fake news.

do the math what a susa takes in a year or just what the EDP tournament circuit brings in with hotel kickbacks and all and that's without their leagues. We are talking monster dollars!

How much do you need? More...

It isn’t about adapting so much as as the market was changing they did not make any adjustments or feel that any market change whatever affect them. For such a large organization with deep pockets their marketing and public relations has never been good.
