Suffolk D2 will see Hills West, EI, Sayville, Hauppauge and SWR battling. Could be some other surprise teams too.

Terrible job by schools and sections on scheduling around the ACT this year. Why are players forced to miss games when they know well in advance when the ACT's are scheduled. Move the games to later times or don't schedule on that day at all. Only happens 1x or 2x per season. Terrible.

Agree. We were forced to play despite not having our junior or Seniors because the schools couldn't find a "suitable" time or date to reschedule. I doubt they even tried. So much for student athletes.

The leagues know how desperately naive you parents are, so they stick to their scheduling. They know parents would sacrifice education for sport which in my mind is crazy. Complaining here makes no sense when ALL the power is yours as a parent. But you all forfeit that right just so your kid can play in a game. You have only yourself to blame for caving in as a parent!

Please remember Mr. and Mrs. Parent, when it comes down to the basics you are simply an ATM machine. There's a reason why this is called recreational sports. Great exercise for the kids and a positive way to occupy their time, which you are all taking it way, way, way too seriously. Leaving Long Island did she left a Virginia Florida and in some cases Europe while it's a lot of fun your children have some serious hurdles to overcome and soccer does not prepare them for the business world, and you may think differently but I don't agree.

I'm confused. We took the ACT instead of playing in a game, so how are we naïve and ourselves to blame. Maybe the threads got mixed up

Maybe the governing body should start think about upgrading the Varsity Soccer refs to a full squad of 3 instead of two who cant make the right calls the way they are positioned or any calls at all. I understand they are short refs but maybe increase the pay and advertise for more refs for the school districts.

This type of situation should cause people to pause and ask themselves:

1- What message is a school district sending by scheduling a meaningless game to conflict with an ACT? Shouldn’t their number one goal be to educate our children?

2- Any high school Coach that encourages a child to play the game instead should be held in low regard and questioned as to why he is a teacher.

We all have choices to make in life and schedules aren’t always aligned with our priorities, the choices we make for our children send strong messages to them.

the 2 man system is banned by FIFA. NFHS should do the same. Horrible system.

They had a lot of returning players but lost a great coach. I thought losing the coach would’ve made a bigger difference.
I’m more shocked at South Sides slow start. Also kudos to Massapequa. After graduating some great talent, I’m shocked at their start. Never would’ve expected them to eat Syosset.

North Babylon and West Islip look good in Suffolk AA Conference. Commack and Northport will be in the mix. Next couple of weeks will tell the story.

Would you like the link to sign up for the referee course? Be part of the solution. Remember most games are played during work hours so it is hard to find people. Finally how do we know the calls made were on correct?

2 man is not perfect but if run correctly is fine for games. There are far more games than referees unless you start doubling games at sites JV then Varsity same crew there is no way every game gets assigned. As it is now many JV and Junior HS games will only have 1 official.

Correct so many teams make playoffs, just need to play great during those few games. That EI team we played, we lost to them they talented and will be playing late into the season. Couple new faces from last year, young girls quality especially one in middle of field. SWR team quality too. Should be excellent playoff many quality teams.
