OMG, the first post has to be EC hate again. Listen, they were invited, and they went. It is a great tournament, and if the parents want to pay for it, then who are you to worry about it? They were 8th out of the country's top 32 teams in that age group invited from all over the US. That is a pretty good showing form a LI team.

You really believe those are the Country's top 32 teams? Really?

Or maybe it's the teams that qualified that are in that league?

I don't see any club or team name mentioned in the post. Why would you assume it's East Coast? Does 1) wasting parent's money 2) at such a young age going off to a tournament in Florida 3) poor results --- all point to East Coast? History repeating itself?

u9? Good to see the next generation of crazy parents can keep up with the older groups. This is an old story to keep people buying the product. Whoever it is went to Florida to promote the club to get more people to sign up to get more for their pockets. They will overstate the importance of one tournament in order to sell sell sell. People will think little Timmy needs to be on such an awesome team and move from their town team to sign up and wait a year or two on the second team while spending all the necessary funds and time waiting for the call up. My kids are finishing their youth soccer years and I post this only to say there is no right or wrong way. Pick town or for profit organization, which ever best for your kid. It goes fast, don't get caught up in what other clubs do. The grass isn't always greener no matter what social media tells you.

Side note the idea of adding more visibility to the town clubs would be a welcomed sight. Too late for me, but maybe others can see their are options.

To add to this posters comment, there is no one size fits all answer. Everyone is looking for that perfect situation. The reality is that there is none and we can go down the rabbit hole of the plus/minuses for town or for- profit clubs. Do your research to find the best fit for your kid and try to not pay attention to all the noise on these boards.

For example, you might find your town team is great if you have 2014 son but on the other hand your 2010 daughter is better off on a for profit club rather than your town team. There are many variables that will influence your decision. At the end of the day there is no perfect sauce and you do the best you can to make sure your kid is happy.
