A club has a top team with several weaker teams in the same age group. The "weaker" teams have some very good players but have been told they are not eligible to try out for the top team even though roster spots have increased since we are going 11 v 11. The team will only take on players outside of the club!!! Anyone care to guess which club/organization this is? What would a parent do in this situation?

Depends who your team is. Maybe they shouldn't be at either...

That sounds like total BS from you. If its true, why would you stay at that club?

If it's the club we're at, and I'm almost certain it is bc it's mentioned in another thread then I can confirm this happens in more than one case these past two months

We didn't leave bc it didn't involve our son. Our son is an average player on and average team. We like the coaching and he's having a good time while growing as a player

You expect that we have to justify our decisions for our son?

Well, seems all the names are coming out now. But I know as I mentioned earlier we've seen it happen at Susa. Not exactly shocking news there.

all signs point to East Cost, as the scenario played out exactly as described.

East Coast boca juniors recruited strong players from Gotschee and Met Oval MLS Next , and you want your kid to be pulled up ? It is because he isnt good. Now you go to a weaker club and complain. Watch boca juniors this year or East Coast Academy new name

EM is notorious for that. Second and third team players never make it up to the first unless they have a few other siblings at the club and they stand a chance of losing the family. They will always take players from another club's first team and ignore their families that have already been suckered into the club. They run a business to build headcount not about soccer. Avoid that club if you are looking for a true soccer experience for your child.

I guess if you can't beat Gotschee you might as well take their players. Later on EC will say they developed them. BTW, EC has better players on their B team than existing A team but they aren't allowed to move up.

This is an age old tactic, greedy clubs do it, they just wants to make money. You attract new players by putting them in top division just to have their parents sign up (all you require is average skills - kick the ball hard and be tough).
After the season is done, they get dropped to the lower division. Unfortunately the ones that lose are the hard working kids from the lower division.

WOW. So if they have B team players better than their A team, (their A team is very good), then their B team must be great. Sounds like a great club because nobody else can boast this.

This can be seen at the club we are in:
Each of the top three teams has 3-4 really good players, then about 6-7 that are decent, with the remaining players lacking in not just skill but physically not up to the others.
If it was all about winning at the top level the kids that are the best from all three teams would be grouped together to form a truly top notch team. Yeah, maybe 1-2 would be out of position or complain about playing time.
But it's obvious to see the club our sons are at put a priority on head count, winning is second. It's a business.

Their A team is very good for a L.I team, they get beat by NJ teams (check EDP standings from the spring season and you will see). Their B team does has a few players that are better than, let's say the bottom 6 players of the A team.

Its hard to imagine anybody following this team and their B team this closely. Clearly you are an upset parent on the b team. You should speak with your coach not post discreetly on a message board like a coward

No more words had to be said and no longer affiliated with the club. Went to an organization where you could try out and make a team based on merit not politics.

So youre saying that the best team around has better players on the B team that can help make the A team better? Based off of your trained eye?
