Now that most tryouts are over, before players/parents join a club, do yourselves a favor and ask the following: Are summer camps with the club mandatory? Is an "end of summer" disguised as pre-season team camp mandatory? What is the minimum requirement for the team uniform (backpacks, track suits, training uniform, etc, etc). How often will uniforms be updated? I heard one of these academy teams requires a new kit every year!! How many tournaments will the team participate in? I can see one for Labor Day & Columbus day but some of these clubs go overboard. You need to factor all this and more to get a final cost.

"Recruit more players"???? What do you think Barca, Valencia, EastCoast have been doing? They all have so many teams in each age group, they can't all be good. Heck, none of their top two teams were able to win a division this season. These L.I organizations are the biggest rip offs around, (SUSA being just as bad).

Sounds like you have your own inadequacy and daddy issues. You realize you’re talking about 11-12 year old kids right?

Go look at the B2009 thread. Everyone is throwing a party that the Valencia 09 is folding, also a top team in the country. Jealous parents are celebrating a kids team being destroyed, but we aren’t celebrating when a few teams from Long Island are Nationally Ranked? Its sickening. Today with mass shootings, corrupt politicians, and the rest of the sickness, and you people come on here to attack 12 year old kids for not doing well at a major tournament? If these kids were victims of a tragedy like what youve seen on the news lately, you would be the first ones on your Instagram to write a sob post for attention. You are all disgusting. Go East Coast, represent NY well at Regionals this weekend. I am supporting you as I am a New Yorker.

Calm down EastCoast parent. Stop with the nationally ranked hype already! Do you know how they arrived at the ranking? It's total BS. Look at their teams record and you'll see they are good but not top dog. If you go by winning percentage they would be 15th-20th in the country. Don't even bring up league record because you already how that ended.

Only an idiot would look at a record of 11-12 year olds to determine if they are good .
Good at what ? Winning ? Or learning how to play soccer ?
Boca plays the best soccer of any local 2010’team ,
Sure they might lose to a kick and chase team ,
Those kids play great soccer ,
Rather play like that and lose then punt and win cause the CB didn’t handle a punt and some cheep goal was scored …
That will not happen as they get older ….

Wow, blaming your CB for losing. That's not cool. If you haven't noticed, both EC A & B teams rely on sending the ball up top to their speedsters so they can outrun opponents. What's the difference if it's over the top or a long ground pass? You guys put your less skilled players up there but have speed. This strategy/system worked and younger ages but does not work and hasn't worked this year, has it?

Dude, don’t know who peed in your Cheerios but you’re bitterness and misery doesn’t help the situation and is a bigger long-term detriment to your kid than any team ground passing or lobbing a ball, instilling negativity to those around you. Go enjoy a beer and spending time with your family, enjoy watching your kids win, lose, get happy and frustrated, it’s all part of helping them develop, as civilized people and community members.

Let them know you have their backs regardless of the result. Let kids be kids. My kid isn’t on east coast but to see the venom over 11-12 year olds, at any club, is ridiculous. Seriously, we have better [****] to do.

Looks like you dont even know what youre arguing about ! East Coast is the possession team here, not the kick it up to the speedster team. Even the people who are hating East Coast knows they play the best soccer, and East Coast does lose to kick and run teams its true. Haha you dont even know which colors East Coast wears.

Sorry to burst your bubble but HOTA, BWG, EMSC,DUSC & SUSA play possession style soccer as well.

The New York cup is a totally meaningless cup. It exists only to generate money for Gary Grossman. It is a worthless event. If you’re hanging your head on that event and your team is a bottom dweller and You are another clueless parent.

The bottom line is that winning the New York cup doesn’t do anything however East Coast is at the regionals where it does mean something and your team isn’t there. Deal with it

The real question is how much these idiot EC parents are paying a year for u12 soccer. All these tournaments and traveling id say well within the realm of 25k a year

These idiot parents are paying a whole lot less than the idiot parents at SUSA and many of the other so-called, in name only, academies.

Obviously you’ve got a hard on for EC, would be very clear they had quite an influx of new players from tryouts this spring and they’re on the move. You’ll just have to be excepted you and your child won’t be along for the ride. The question is is it your choice or was it their choice?

Ask yourself, if it's a "meaningless cup" then why participate? Then you have EC parents bragging about it and then are silent when they lose. Congrats to NYCFC White on defeating Chelsea Piers Napoli in a blowout in the GOLD bracket and Gunners FS (not sure where they're from) on defeating aforementioned East Coast in a shutout in SILVER bracket. Winning these finals does mean something to these players.

Ask yourself this, if it is a meaningful cup who is sanctioning this cup, and when you win it what do you graduate to? Where is this so-called meaningful cup taking you? This New York cup is just like the LIJSL cup which is to say it’s just a single elimination tournament and nothing more. You win it or you lose it that’s it, there’s nowhere else to go.

Gunners SC is from Yonkers. They played in D1 bronze in seasonal play which was just a fancier name for d3

Yonkers?? Wasn't aware there are powerhouses up there. How does a D3 team beat an academy B team?? What excuses were the parents and coaches making this time? Maybe now they can slap the word "academy" on their club and charge as much as East Cost.

Yes so it means nothing? Getting knocked out by the winless last place team in d1 gold should mean something right? Just admit EC boca is not the powerhouse these idiots make them out to be
