It is time for the LIJSL , EHYSL, CJSL, & CDYSL to either dual sanction or switch affiliation away from USYSA and go balls deep within US CLUB. USYSA in our opinion has sold out to EDP, and it is our firm belief that the USYSA no longer supports ENYYSA or its leagues in favor of the money, influence and power of EDP.

What is your opinion? Inquiring minds want to know.

This is why the USA will never be able to compete in the world soccer arena! Money can not be the motivation! SMH.

Since the WYSL is US Club having the CJSL, LIJSL, & EHYSL go US Club would be very powerful, and would bring strength and all the amenities that so many of you embraced when you had the US Club option before Grossman totally fu***'d it up. Think of how it will boost the ECNL in our area, and all the other USCS programs we no longer enjoy.

USYS is no longer in support on their ENYYSA State Association, and there is the very strong possibility of a cascading effect to other USYS State Associations.

In Europe, you play for your town as a youth, full stop. No alphabet soup, no ridiculous cash. You make your way through the system. No wonder our men can't field a competitive team.

I'd rather have the stability of USYSA, even with the EDP fiasco, rather than the wild west of US Club.

US Club is about money. That is all they care about and that’s why they cater to the for profit clubs. USYS caters to non for profit and is far superior on the boys side. Girls side is superior on the girls side (ECNL) and that’s no surprise as girls soccer is more profitable.

If you don’t believe that just look at LI soccer landscape and all the girl dominate clubs SUSA, LISC, EM, Surf, Atletico and which clubs are boy dominant?

You forgot to add EDP as a for profit business. I would also take exception to the poster above as bit uninformed and clueless.

Yes of course let’s use the European model that has been a bastion of corruption, did we forget FIFA and Sepp Blatter and UEFA?

The money grab in soccer has been a worldwide phenomenon so let’s not be blind to it.

Wouldnt the biggest issue be that accepting US Club OR USYSas the dominant, single system would mean that clubs have to acknowledge potentially not being the "top of the pyramid" so it would never happen?

For example, when DA folded and Girls Academy first appeared, werent they going to use some unknown carding system? They did not want to go US Club because they'd have been forced to publicly support ECNL as the top league. They didnt want to do USYS at the time because USYS was propping up the National League. In the end, GA worked out a deal with USYS to be the "top" girls league but separate and somewhat parallel and never to be directly compared to the USYS/EDO teams.

The entire business prop for these clubs is "we are the best, in the best league, with college and national team placement" and while people posting here may know thats BS, the parents with 9 year olds who get recruited in do not know this yet ( and i admit was once one of them).

Yes, the european model that effectively allows clubs to buy and sell minors, keeping some in full day academies where they get virtually no real education, only to be spit out at 16 with no future. But hey, if they can get a plane ticket to the USA they can work for one of our clubs and give private trainings!

No. Money is the motivation in soccer all over the world. There are other reasons that US soccer falls short on the international level, but money isn't one of them. What makes the US different is that we have a pay-to-play system where the funding comes from outside the clubs (i.e., from the families of the players), as opposed to other countries where professional teams fully fund their academies - the goal being to develop players that they can eventually sell for a profit.

In the rest of the world they literally sell promising players to a club when they are minors. In the US the money comes from a parent. You can argue about which money delivery is more effective, but in both systems piles of cash are being moved around.

LI Ref you're mixing apples and bowling balls. We're looking at this from a youth perspective. No doubt corruption runs rampant at the pro levels. Bottom line is if we followed the European youth model we'd find those diamonds in the rough. It's not pay to play like it is here where everyone chases the latest Golden letter league.

EDP is a scam and their tournament circuit where you are forced to use their sanctioned hotels that kick back to EDP is a farce. Thats even worse than Yellow Jackets lacrosse and susa who double dip by putting their own teams in their own tournaments.

Look to NORWAY. Most winter olympic medals by far and it's illegal to compete or keep score until kids are at least 13 which is backed up by a childrens bill of rights.
Too much money in all USA sports

You miss my point, the diamonds are being discovered. I just don’t think we need to copy a model based on countries in Europe where Soccer is clearly the dominant sport nothing even comes close. In the USA there is a lot of competition for athletes with world class leagues like the NFL, NBA and MLB.

The last thing we need to do is model ANYTHING Europe does because what works for them may not work here. Just ask any former European Academy player that went all the way through the system, basically gambled all their marbles in making it to the top only to get a serious injury and have nothing to show for not attending University and not having a future in professional soccer.

To say nothing about the corruption which is so rampant that it infects everything. Why would FIFA even consider a World Cup in Qatar? Follow the money.

Ask any lower division pro team or league in the US about corruption. No pro-rel. SUM being an arm of MLS, MLS basically dictating USSF policy, both huge conflicts of interest.
No lower leagues able to sustain themselves due to arbitrary PLS put in place to eliminate any competition to MLS. All of this trickles down to the youth level, as it forces a pay-to-play system that is ABSOLUTELY unable to identify talent. Look at the U17 MNT pool and count how many of them ever sniff the senior MNT pool. If FIFA-level corruption was the biggest problem for US soccer, it would be an improvement.

You speak of NFL, NBA, and MLB. How many thousands of kids who play football, basketball and baseball in this country (many from underprivileged parts of society) are left with nothing when they realize that they will never play professionally? Let's not act like this kind of thing is unique to European soccer.

My point is that here in this country it is more about what and/or who you can buy, not really about talent at all. Simple enough for you? In the other countries talent is first, as it should be.

The difference there is that American scholar athletes have something to fall back on if they do not become professionals-If they attended the right division 1 university they would have a college degree for free!

If they did not graduate then it’s on them! They were given an opportunity not a guarantee.

As for CJ’s statement she is right, the pay to play scheme in this country does not do the best job on getting the most talented to the top. But the reason it is a pay to play in this country is because the dominant soccer league is TINY and much less affluent than their European counterparts which are printing money and that is why they can afford to properly fund Academies.

Why do the most talented in Europe make it to the top? That’s simple. The investors (the most talented powerful leagues and clubs in the world) are putting their money where there mouths are and they are not about to waste that investment by advancing sub par players!

Would it be a huge shock to everyone here to find out that European academies are going towards pay to play now? This was already happening and covid has been accelerating it as they all missed a year of ticket sales and attendance related revenue.
