Awesome...

In my day it was:

What's the difference between an orange?
A rabbit because his vest has no sleeves....

Was that the Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland?

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small

So basically no one really understands how points are awarded for standings.

Dumb question. It’s HS soccer on LI. 80%+ of the rosters include irrelevant kids. No one gets recruited based in their HS season in LI. It’s bad soccer with unskilled players. And no scouts or coaches take it minimally serious.

Why is it a dumb question? This is obviously a parent unfamiliar with how recruiting works and we should be offer advice not snide comments. BTW you are wrong there are plenty of D2, D3 and small D1 schools that do recruit out of High Schools. I agree that it is much easier to send you kid to the Jeff Cup or Delco to get in front of a large group of coaches in the same weekend, but not everyone has that option. If you daughter wants to play college soccer put in the leg work. Reach out to the coaches from the schools she is interested in, but be realistic. Above all else don't listen to the a$$hats that want you to believe it is not possible. Good Luck

Wrong. Have been through recruiting process plenty, and currently have 1 on scholarship and 1 in HS getting offers for past 3 months. NONE of it would have been possible playing LI HS only. Possible, i guess anything possible. Realistic? Hardly. Unless you have a natural phenomenon who flashes and can be judged by the blind. Maybe 1 or 2 out of a hundred.

It's not wrong. Your children are fortunate that you can pay for one of the alphabet teams, by the arrogance of your response I'm guessing SUSA, but it is not the only way to be recruited. You are assuming that this person is looking to get recruited for scholarship. D3 schools who do not give out scholarships still recruit players. I have a friend who coaches D2, and can give scholarship's, who not only recruits Jeff Cup and Delco but also recruits High School players. He understands that not everyone can afford to pay for a private club.

With all your vast knowledge of the recruiting process why not offer this parent some help and advice instead or are you one of those parents who paid one of those services to do your legwork?

Having been through the recruiting process more than a few times here is my advice for players who only play HS ball and want to play in college:
Put together a list of schools you are interested in that have soccer programs at any level.
Familiarize yourself with NCAA recruiting rules.
Show a lot of interest in the schools. Email the coach, tell him/her when you are playing and ask if coach or an asst coach can watch you play. Visit the school and ask if you can meet with the coach or someone from the team.
Send video if available - this is especially true if the school is far away - college coaches do most of their recruiting locally (travel by car) unless they are are a top program.
Try to play for a local team - you do not have to pay a lot of money to play for many of the non-alphabet soup town clubs. If you play for a local club you will have a player pass. With a player pass you can be eligible to guest play for a club team at a college showcase. Research college showcases that you could attend and see if the coaches for your schools will be attending. Check the showcase website - many list teams looking for guest players.
Be tenacious in your search, be realistic in your chances and be willing to work hard to make it happen. It is true that it doesn't happen a lot but that doesn't mean it can't happen for you.

The awards are silly. Favoritism by coaches and who they put in position to be successful. Especially true with the weaker teams.

Is it true the opposing teams coaches vote for who gets them?

Thanks for any info.
My daughter is apparently a pretty good goalie. She plays for local club and HS. Shes a class of 2023. Im looking to get her in some showcases and stuff like that. Im pretty new to all of this. Anyone have any info they can give to me about showcases or anything that helps her play in college. Her grades are top too if that helps. Thanks!

Having top grade is a much bigger part of this then most people want to admit. Reach out to the school's coaches your daughter is interested in and have her send the coach an email, this can be found on the schools soccer page, introducing herself. Ask the coach if he/she has their schedule as to which showcases they will be attending. Go to the showcase website and see if anyone is in need of a "free agent" goalie for the tournament. Remember ignore the naysayers. Good Luck.

Club should be at big showcases this year - if she is a good goalie make sure she's on a club that accesses ECNL/GA showcases or big events like Jeff Cup.

Have her go to College ID clinics. If she has any interest in specific colleges have her attend their clinics also as well as her club team attending showcases. She will need see what colleges are attending the showcases and have her email them her games times etc. if she has any highlights, she should email her highlight reel to them as well.
