who exactly considers ECNL the best league by college coaches? are the clubs telling you that? did college coaches tell you that? you do not need ECNL to play division 1 soccer. if your kid is good enough they will be recruited. you do not need the ECNL or ussf da.

There's no question EM is run like the old boys club. They should have pushed Tarik's background to the moon, and she would have brought quality female trainers over for the girls side. Ruairi is too stubborn and insecure to build the right way much like Paul. Sometimes those guys are so far behind in the race they think they're wining. We need some media cover as to why that is.

You hit the nail on the head there is zero accountability at East Meadow. At the ECNL level they bring out the same couple of male coaches season after season who blame their poor league finishes on lack of talent. Train the kids well early and those seeds you planted will turn into a full harvest later. New blood usually shakes things up in a positive way. How about you go from zero female coaches in your ECNL team to one or two and mentor them. The EM teams can’t possibly finish lower in the ECNL rankings than they do now

Accountability? If people feel that certain clubs are not doing the right thing why do you folks keep staying with that club? Are they not accountable to parents as paying customers? People vote with their feet if you do not like the way clubs are run you can leave!

Well said Mike well said. No need to include anyone at EM that you and their coaches do not like. Parents/kids even if you have skills or not, if you don’t fit into you mold then piss off and go to another club.

Please don’t show me how stupid you can be. I said I didn’t earn my living from this website and I don’t. That doesn’t mean people don’t pay for advertising. If BOTN is going to make people money, Then BOTN deserves to get paid.

Relax You took it the wrong way, wasn’t referring to your website.

Great in concept but easier said than done. ECNL is considered the best league by college coaches, Long Island has two ECNL clubs. If you live in Suffolk it’s not easy to drive to Nassau County to play soccer four nights a week. These clubs have the parents caught and will not change unless a third ECNL team is added locally. LISC is a great club but the league they play in isn’t. They should try to get into the ECNL league.

Terrible idea. One in nassau and one in suffolk is more than enough. Just work on keeping sleazeballs like PR and his ilk away from youth soccer and any other soccer regardless of league.

Too late, the ECNL options in Nassau and Suffolk are already infected with sleaze, grime and pedophilia. Boards that are in charge of both clubs are just as corrupted as the coaches that sleep with the kids they are supposed to be in charge of training.
Remove these folks and make these clubs great again!! Or parents keep sending your kids there and make your kid be a target.

Honestly, the hell with EM and F the entire board, they're pathetic. There are plenty of qualified female trainers on LI, but why in the world would they want to join disgusting male dominated clubs like EM or susa? Larry is right, the way to VOTE, is with your feet. I'll be walking my youngest daughter away from EM to join her sister at LISC. They have a wonderful staff of highly qualified female coaches who are super passionate about training and developing young ladies.

+1 for the EM-LISC move.

ECNL is only great if you stand to be close to the top of your conference. At the bottom of the standings and you know what, playing in GA with better training and coaching will see alot movement like this. See you on the next side.

I bet you’re the same loser that thinks every cop is bad and that whole nonsense narrative.
Paul Riley is complete slime and hopefully gets what’s coming if all the accusations are right.
Also, why just blame a coach for sleeping with a parent. How about blaming the who%# mom for doing so. I know coaches should be professional and avoid that, but unfortunately this stuff happens everywhere, not just here.

Wow what a scum bag. Blame the mom? That’s ur answer? You a pure scum.

It is what it is. If a woman sleeps with a coach to try to get her kid more playing time, then yes, she is a fault. She’s just as much of a scum bag as the coach.
Stop sleeping around and you won’t have such a guilty consensus

You're spot on LI Ref. Every parent on LI thinks little Suzie is going to play on a top ranked D1 college team. News flash, how many of our players get into a Penn State, Stanford, etc? One or two here and there, and they barely see the field.
Now depending on the player's REALISTIC talent level, ECNL may be worth it depending where they want to play geographically. But once you go to an ECNL showcase you seethe talent is much higher in other parts of the country. Go to ID clinics instead at schools You're interested in. You'll be found.

Now, how do we get the lack of female coaches under a microscope here on LI?

The lack of female coaches on LI has nothing to do with anything other than when they are in college they know they can’t be fiscally supported by the sport afterwards by default. They get an education. Allow their playing D1 be a great resume/interview point and employers eat it up. They become teachers. They don’t look at it as hey I can exploit youth to pay my bills. They typically donate their time and enjoy the experience. They respect the game too much to exploit the children for their gain.

That being said there are great male and female coaches on Li. Many of them you look at and go wait you make 85k for a game you have minimal knowledge of. Because you player a a D2 school doesn’t mean you know how to coach. Because you dropped out of a D3 school because you can make money training doesn’t mean you know how to train children.

Reality is many of the white communities are “star struck” when the trainer has an accent no matter the country, if he is a POC they eat it up.

True insight, i start by saying that yes both susa and east meadow certainly have their issues, however the poster is so clearly using this moment to attack both of these clubs. Your motive to diminish these clubs at any chance possible is so evident. There is no way that of the over 200 clubs in New York that these two clubs are the only clubs with these issues. This thread began with Paul Riley sexually coercing players and still somehow found its way back to only susa and east meadow not hiring females. Again, not saying false, simply saying to highlight only these clubs clearly shows the poster has it out for these clubs. The thread could have been a discussion about what shoes are best for futsal and some angry person still would have found a way to bring it back to bashing these two clubs. Enjoy your kids soccer, put your energy toward supporting and child rather then resentful posts about a club that didn't work out for your child. Your child's soccer days will be over in no time, stop wasting your energy on bringing down only these two clubs and save that hype for your child. They deserve all of you!

What evidence do you have from the other 200 clubs of transgressions of this nature! To lump all the clubs together of having similar issues to Alby, susa , and EM is ridiculous. mYYU

If the soccer community is interested in putting a hard stop to this, starting at the big clubs will send the right message. Everyone else will follow.

Utter nonsense! If the clubs wanted to stop it what is keeping them from changing? Too many clubs are run by too many toxic people that have stuck around way past their expiration date!

All the toxicity starts with the clubs, governing bodies can only do so much, it starts with the parents that continue to support Coaches and club officials that are not good for youth soccer. Parents have the power to change things they are the paying customers!

But that's the problem, they are high exposure clubs so of course they're going to be the focus. Would love for someone, anyone, from those clubs to comment as to why they don't have one female coach on their staff.

The next tier of Surf and LISC are much more diverse.

It will be a cold day in hell before the East Meadow board even asks Ruairi to hire a female. They have no teeth, their children play for him! They won’t rock the boat because then he will not help their kids.

Why would any females want to work for Raurai? He talks to them like crap because they intimidate him.

East Meadow famously brings in 13/14/15/16 kids that were trained at other clubs, they are promised the world by Ruarri and Gary and Jamie. The promises are empty. East Meadow has never built a true team from peewees that has won anything. East Meadow should consider merging with LISC to use LISC coaching staff.

Thats hilarious. How would that benefit LISC? Why would they want to have to deal with EM culture? They are building their own culture and growing. . In addition, there are enough defections from other clubs to LISC already.

Hilarious how no one is mentioning Brook Derosa coaching at Barca. She is one of the best coaches around and a college coach. One thing that is not being said in LI is that Barca has a new director who will prioritize the girl's side now. EM may have the players but the coaches stink, Rouri, Jamie, and Gary should go take notes on how the coaches from spain train there teams. No need for ECNL because the National League Pro will be just as good.

Barca needs to compete in the USYS North Atlantic Conferences on the girl's side and build that up so that they can enter the USYS National League PRO which takes the best of the best teams in the regions and then the winners go to USYS National Championship. Despite what you may think, in other parts of the country like Florida for example there are teams in the USYS NL that are stronger than local ECNL clubs and both do a great job at having competitive games in the league and college exposure. I just do not understand why here in NY in Long Island no one works on building competitive teams that can compete with ECNL and be a non ECNL team.

LISC would get ECNL and the access to East Meadows turf field. LISC needs ECNL to grow and they need the field. East Meadow needs a non-toxic coaching staff. It would really help both clubs.
