karma is a bitch. John Curtis, the promoted ally of Gary Grossman, and the training academy of choice for the now failed NYCSL seems to have also taken a hit.

BOTN obtained this personalized email that John Curtis sent out where he whines about having competition. Poor little trainer boy!!

The Center of Excellence/national Center of Excellence has been anything but excellent, and it seems both the community and according to this letter, the clients and COE coaches have had enough of John.

I have read this letter a few times over and it is a lot of BS, veiled threats, and a business heading for the tubes trying desperately to throw blame on others, make accusations, and contain a lot of misinformation.

In the opinion of BOTN, this is mostly inaccurate.

First of all, email addresses are not proprietary. Your contact information is not proprietary. COE former coaches have every right to promote their new business to COE future, current and former clients.

Curtis does not say what proprietary information was stolen. Curtis will have to accept that the hype that he was getting (i'm sure for a cut) from Gary Grossman has run its course.

The letter is posted below for your perusal, but to be redundant, I think it is all a cry for all of you to come back and save what appears to be a sinking ship.

Unfortunately, at this time BOTN does not have the identity of the coaches or the name of the coaching/training business alluded to in this letter.

BOTN reached out to John Curtis, but did not receive a reply.

Dear *******

Unfortunately, I need to bring a legal situation to your attention: NCE has recently learned that two former coaches who had access to your contact information during their involvement with NCE Soccer, are now improperly using that information to advance a competing soccer program, in violation of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act and various other obligations under Connecticut law. The coaches in question have been contacting NCE’s clients directly, to promote a competing training program that they are running. As far as we can tell, the only personal data taken was a list of clients’ contact information, but we are continuing to investigate the matter and will update you with any further relevant information.

What we do know at this point, though, is that they are promoting soccer programming that is scheduled to run in the Summer and Fall of 2021. Some of you may have been contacted directly about this program and/or may already be participating. I want you to know that NCE’s attorneys have written to demand that the former NCE coaches cease and desist from improperly using NCE proprietary information, including your personal data. However, because it appears to us that this wrongful activity and unfair trade practices are continuing, NCE and its lawyers are preparing to take legal action.

I know that we all have a lot on our plates right now and nobody wants to get bogged down in lawsuits or other unpleasant matters. But NCE has a duty to our clients and to ourselves to make sure that our clients’ data is properly maintained and used, and that the playing field – be it the soccer pitch or the business of training future soccer stars – remains a fair one. We intend to do what is necessary to address this situation and to protect our organization: I thank you for your anticipated cooperation and apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

We appreciate your continued support of NCE and we can’t wait to see ****** in future NCE programming.

Kind Regards

John

I never saw anything great with the NCE. John Curtis RARELY attends and his coaches are usually very young. A lot of hype and money for very little. All sizzle, no steak.

This is what every trainer does that leaves an organization. If NCE was a strong program they weather the storm. If you are weak and relied on those trainers, never showed face and worked with your clients than you are screwed. Oh well.

every trainer started with an outfit, cut their teeth and then asked themselves, why is the boss taking a cut of my session fee? Red Bulls, Roughriders, NOGA etc. even the susa trainers get paid a fraction of the money that is collected. the guys making the big cash are the owners of training companies or the true independent trainer that has cut out the middle man

No doubt. Collection of players at NCE has always been way below average. Pulled my kid after 1 season. Felt like everyone there got robbed in a complete scam.

NCE was always good and well run . I recently stopped going because it wasn’t a place where the best kids played and trained . This past year they took anyone and everyone that would pay . The tryout didn’t matter . Before this I loved it and got a lot from it . Sad !

In my business experience with Curtis it was only about money. Showing this guy the door is the smart move. Another guy with an accent that took too many headers.

Omg, so one of his ex coaches sends out emails promoting additional training, big deal. With all the spam and emails we never signed up for for outside training what's one more? If people want to spend their money somewhere else for a different product, God bless em. How do you think JC got everyone's emails initially???

Curtis tried convincing my son to go to another club when we joined NCE. I was very disappointed, that he was taking it upon himself to push players to other clubs he had connections with. Im sure he was getting money under the table.

Curtis is only about money. All the hype and promotion (Gothia Cup? give me a break! mostly Swedish village teams) is there to bring in more money. I get his NCE emails and everything starts with money (all non-refundable no matter what). He underpays his trainers and they leave. So now, the two best ones have set up on their own and will be taking away some of his business.

Gothia cup is a joke. Suoer expensive and terrible competition. Anyone willing to pay gets to go. Then they present it like they are playing for the USA in the world cup. LMFAO. Money grab!!

NCE formerly COE was very good up until about two years ago….as others pointed out the tryout was no longer really a tryout…talent pool fell off…

Yep, won’t be doing COE again - not responsive to questions from families enrolled is very surprising given the dwindling number of participants. You’d think they’d want to be accommodating to current participants but I guess they feel entitled and don’t care about their paying customers. Not to mention the mediocre trainers. Good luck with that.

Riley, Bradbury, Curtis, Kelsh, Colley and the list goes on and on

All guys with funny accents who have or are currently still making money off of all of you crazy parents. Keep paying and they will keep taking.
