What the heck happened to the almighty Barca 06 team ? I watched them get totally spanked this weekend. Looks like the new best team in NY is Ultimatum. Beat up Albertson ECNL AKA FC wolves and East Meadow ECNL from what i saw. I thought the best teams were ECNL ?

Hello- thanks for that enlightening post Dix Hills Ultimatum parent LOL DH is still just an aggressive, kick and run team that can't make 3 consecutive passes. BUT they will win in EDP because of the grit and their work ethic. Especially with REAL 2006 Pro not being around.
The Barca 2006 Pro team is basically no more from what I hear. Many players moved on with most just not happy with the way the club was being run or the league they are playing in.

I know Barca lost at least 2 key players - one to NYCFC and one to Barca Residency in Arizona. Beating up on the EMSC 2006 ECNL is not exactly a signature win.

Barca is developing players the right way which is why they move on. 2 players from the 06 team and 2 players from the 05 team moved on to their residency academy in Arizona on full scholarships so you would be a fool not to take advantage of that opportunity. 2 other players from the 06 team went to NYCFC, 2 from the 05 team went to NYSC. 2 other strong 06 players have moved up to the 05 team. Most of these players were with Barca from the beginning so they are doing it right. Developing these players and they move on to better opportunities. If all you parents are concerned about which team is the best, who has more got soccer points, etc. your the reason American Soccer kids get burnt out by 16/17 and stop playing. As a trainer myself, my job is to develop players and move them on to a better team in the same club or they move on to a better club. That's my job. I get no better joy than seeing one of my players move on to a better team. I'm not in it for results, wins or losses. Yes we want to be competitive but we also want to see progress and development. So parents please get a clue and stop worrying about wins and losses.

Beating Alby/susa where every player is an ATM machine 06 ECNL is a good achievement. Beating EMSC ECNL 06 is not. Just like any other league, you have stronger teams and weaker teams, and being a part of a more prestigious league does not make a team good.

I've been around a long time and all these parents are chasing the MLS next or ECNL badge, for what ? It just shows there are good town/clubs out there besides the big name ones. NYCFC and Red bulls is the only true academy and Red Bulls should be called NJ Red Bulls since they are in Jersey.

So parents please get a clue and stop worrying about wins and losses. Not sure why you are responding to me - I didn't say anything in my post that was contradictory to what you said. Sure, develop players and move them along if and when they outgrow their current team; however calling anyone a "fool" for not wanting to move their 15-year old kid, by himself, to Arizona to play soccer is a little extreme. Families and players all have different perspectives and priorities. Some kids may not be mature enough to handle being on the other side of the country, more or less on their own. Perhaps being in a solid local club, doing well in school, and being surrounded by friends and family is what some kids need. I hope that you "coach" kids more than you "train" them. Trainers are the people that treat player injuries. A coach is a leader, teacher, and role model for young players, which is what the majority of kids need. Just curious what age group you "train"? I am the parent of a high level high school age player, and also a licensed coach. I agree that up until about U14, results don't matter - except to parents who come on message boards like this to brag about how incredible their kid's U11 team is. Anyone who has been around the game long enough knows better. But once you get to be high school age, especially during sophomore and junior years (this is a 2006 thread), the winning and losing really does matter - particularly to kids who want to extend their soccer careers beyond high school. It's a lot tougher to get recruited by college programs if you are on a last-place team in a low-level league, and can't get to any decent showcases as a result. At really any age, winning and development are not always mutually exclusive. Teams/players/coaches should always try to win the game - that is the nature of competition. No one takes the field determined to lose at any cost. The hard part for a coach is to make sure that he/she is not promoting an environment in which players and parents get overly caught up in wins and losses, at the expense of player development.

2 ECNL teams shouldn't lose to an EDP team, no ?[/quote]
Why? ECNL and EDP are leagues that teams pay to play in. The level of talent has noting to do with it. Games are played on the field not on paper and any team can win on any given day. There are no absolutes in sports.

In theory ECNL are the top US Club teams in the area while EDP are the top USYSA teams in the area. And with ECNL's very modest footprint, even if the ECNL teams attracted the "best" players around, there are still going to be a lot of other top players out there in EDP. Besides, haven't you ever watched the FA cup? Teams lose all the time to opponents that they "should never lose to".

Barca NY develops players unlike the Popular Long Island/Queens/Brooklyn/Bronx teams - UNFORTUNATELY, the CLUB can't make it to the supposed top League and never will. I agree with you 100% Love that the Keyboard warriors come out in droves. LOL You are right on this; It was 2- 2006 Pro players that were heading for NYCFC but heard one moved out of state.

They are losing top players left and right- The academy is probably the worst MLS academy. Luckily, They have money to back the program LOL

EMSC is just a complete mess on the boys side. Not 1 age are they considered top 5 on long island let alone in the state. EDP NL is stronger and better than ECNL.
