I know the answer. A trainer who doesn't develop talent and charges excessive amounts of money. Then switches to a new club/academy and charges even more money.

Total moron comment. Working in military, law enforcement, fire, hospital takes “balls” being a “referee” takes a whistle and pocket of colored cards. Was ref for years have “balls” but thankfully didn’t need to show/use them for kids soccer. Idiot

So, you would fire all refs who you don't like by believing they ruined your kid games or just don't think they are good (professional) enough to ref youth soccer games?
Are you really that stupid? By the way, all those people who work in military, law enforcement, fire, hospital, gardeners, teachers and etc. are the adult soccer referees. Those who after their primary jobs take a whistle and pocket of colored cards and try to make unforgettable experience for our kids. And yes, they got some pay for it, which in some eyes it's to much. Also, don't forget to fire all those teenagers who have “balls” to continue refereeing games after all that abuse they take from coaches and spectators who think they are not professional enough.

Amazing how many of you want to bash the refs... yet don't mind paying thousands of dollars for your kid to play on a team/club that will generate absolutely nothing for them in the future. You are better off investing in a 529 account for your kids education. Whose talking stupid now?? And no I am not a ref just a parent who understands how difficult that job truly is. Just be prepared for the fact you will see less referees every year because most of them are quitting because of idiot parents like the ones on this board who hide behind a keyboard and act really macho. Yet wouldnt be able to run 10 yards on a field.

Disagree with you on "yet don't mind paying thousands of dollars for your kid to play on a team/club that will generate absolutely nothing for them in the future".
It's a great experience that they will have in their entire life. That is the idea. And agree that 529 account is also great idea. If can't afford both then everyone decides which one is a priority, I guess.
And 101% agree with you that we will see less referees, especially, adult referees. Me being a referee for the last 6 years I see the same faces of referee-adults and very few new faces which means once they gone there are no substitutes for them.

Before covid - the pool of refs was shrinking at a steady rate.
After covid - the pool has an accelerated rate.
The referee fees are still not enough - add another "0" to the end.

You may have been sleeping for the last year and a half but truck drivers make good money now as they have helped make our world go round during this pandemic! While you’ve been sitting on your ass their stock is thru the roof! 💰💰💰 But most refs suck and can’t ref a youth soccer game!

Yu can get the same "great experience" playing for your local club, save a lot of money and your kid will play with their friends and schoolmates

So you go from say $60 for a center (for example) to $60.0?

Well, this is off this referee topic where, according to some folks, youth referees are making tons of money and doing nothing.

But, I think this person, who is saying that choosing cheapest available option to play soccer will get to your kid same great experience as if he/she gets it by playing at highest level, is not in the sport. If you're a good player then playing at lower level where your parents put you because it's not expensive won't give your child ' great experience' assuming he/she is good at it. I don't know how to explain it to you but it's like if you need to get a tutor for your child and have a choice between experienced one who does it for living and some unexperienced teenager and you choose unexperienced one just because it's cheaper.
Again, every case is different and you just can't say you better do this and that. If you think it's better for your child to invest in 529 education plan and not into sport it's totally fine if someone invests into sport vs some education plans is also fine and if someone can do both is also fine.
