Why are you posting this Larry?

Maybe to get a few of you armchair refs out there helping out?

Maybe to get some armchair soccer dads that need the exercise to actually do something for the game?

Maybe to emphasize the bargain you guys are getting when you consider how expensive the “pay to play” soccer model is?

Strike two! I’ve reffed many games without incident! What an easy job for the money. So many worse things to do for that kind of money. If you are a poor ref you lose control of the match and therefore YOU lose the coaches players and spectators trust as a result. Like anything else do a good job and be respected and left alone.

Wonderful that you can count to two. If you are a real referee then don’t bite the hand that feeds you by trolling parents because you never spent a dime for soccer for your kids. Be a dignified referee not a troll on here.

Strike 3! Do a better job, stop crying or quit! Who complains about their job this much. You must not have any other life skill sets and can’t get a job so your a bad ref. Stfu already and do a better job that you get paid for! Thanks for showing us how much they get paid to do such an easy job! And then cry 😢 about!

Please tell us where you work so that all can come to your job and yell and curse you when you make a mistake. Oh yeah you don't make mistakes. Identify yourself or STFU.

Anyone who has ever been an official at any respectable level of any sport would ever say 'you lose control of the game' because it's the players and coaches who choose how the game will be played. Not the officials.

Other than a weather person , what job can you keep when you consistently make mistakes an ruin the hard work of others. No matter what job you have, you can’t always get it wrong and not get fired! Refs act like they above the law and are generally awful at their jobs. Period!

LOL, I ref, coach, am a parent of players, etc. In watching games I'm not a referee, I'd say a good 95%+ of the complaints about the refs calls and non-calls are unwarranted. Sure, no ref is perfect or will call a perfect game. But they do a lot better job than most people think and a good number of the calls they do muff are more based on not having a good angle on the play rather than just being bad at their jobs. Too many people don't know the rules and feel obligated to loudly display their ignorance.

Same here, I am a parent (1st) and a referee. When I am watching my kid games I might be disagree with some calls but since I am a referee I can understand (in most cases) why calls or no calls are happening. What those folks, who are not happy with how referees doing their games and so trilled with moneys they get for that (you also need to know that they get paid in gold coins), don't understand that those referees are not professionals. It's not their full-time jobs. I completely ignore those who say if you can't do the work then don't do it. At least, I am trying to and I admire all those people who are doing it regardless if they make mistakes. Without those folks who spend their time on the weekends that your kids could have a game that look like a real game there wouldn't be a game. Yes, referees do mistakes and sometimes very bad mistakes that could affect the game output or worse could lead to unnecessary injury. What could be a difference is if you looking at that get a referee license and start helping to improve the quality of soccer refereeing.

Yep, sometimes refs screw up. I've certainly screwed up a few times as a ref. But most of the time us refs are doing as good or better than what can reasonably be expected.

People need to understand that the ref doesnt call everything if it doesnt effect the game. That goes for every sport pros as well as youth. Parents and sometimes coaches want every advantage and that isnt happening. Also if you watch any game closely and focus on one place, you may see things that a ref doesnt, thats why the VAR is now used. So if a ref misses something small especially off the ball, its common. Let it go.

Obviously a troll sitting in his basement wishing his kid played for a better team so he can boast to his co-workers. I would say friends but someone with these "life skills" most likely does not have friends. And it's "you're" not "your" Shakespeare...

You are already getting that and more. If you want professional level refereeing, who by the way still make mistakes every game, well, the MLS pays $900 a game. If you want to pay that much I guess that's your choice.

Any suggestion how to raise the level? Making a mandatory for attending let's say weekly seminars. After each game write a detailed report on what/when/how. Hire MLS level referee and rotate youth level referees around him/her? Enforce self-education by requiring to read articles or watching YouTube clips (with unruly parents and coaches)?
How much you pay for the refs per game? You want to triple that to cover all that? Those folks who run referee organizations do as much as they can with budget they have.
Once again, go to the class and get the ref license then do some games and then you tell us what needs to be done and how.
It's that Simple
