My son (2004) played Dix Hills soccer for many years and played Brentwood EDP/NPL for numerous years . He like to play soccer but many of the teams were very serious with training and practices 3x/week and a lot of traveling. He is looking for more relaxed experience when soccer moves outdoors in March. I believe LIJSL may be a good alternative. New to the site but needed some guidance

Plenty of "fun" teams out there both in 2004 and 2002 that your son could play for in LIJSL. Just look at the LIJSL standings and start contacting clubs that have teams in your sons age group.

Ya check with some LIJSL town teams. Some are serious with 3 practices a week and some are not. Now that your son is probably in High School many coaches understand that kids are playing school sports so they really limit the LIJSL practices. Although they want to win they do have the common sense to realize that there are many really good soccer players out there who actually don't choose to have soccer as there #1 sport as they get older. If your son has any skill he will have his pick of teams after simply showing up to a practice and showing he can play. My kid was in the same boat and continues to play top LIJSL soccer divisions while also playing other sports. Coach is amazing and here is no penalty for missing things as expectations were clearly communicated from the start.

Here is an example of too loser dads and two not good enough players to be on a good program. Good job losers! Soccer fun dads!
