UUS Youth Soccer has announced the postponement of the USYS National League event which was originally scheduled for January 2021.
The competition was slated to take place from January 15-17 in Florida, but will not be held as planned due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
This is the third USYS National League to be postponed in recent weeks. Two weeks of competition scheduled for December 2020 were called off as well.
See below for the announcement released on Tuesday by USYS Competitions Director Marley Wilson:
Given the increasing number of COVID cases, and with the health of our soccer community in mind, US Youth Soccer is postponing the National League Sarasota event scheduled to take place Jan. 15- 17, 2021.
This postponement includes both the Showcase Series and Playoff competitions. New dates and/or location for the rescheduled event are being determined and will be announced at a future time. Teams have been contacted to provide their input on potential reschedule dates.
With the health and safety of all participants as our top priority, we believe it is not in the best interest of the teams and families to travel at this time. By postponing, we will be able to reschedule the events to ensure we can provide a safe experience that is beneficial to all participants. With reduced barriers for teams, players, families and scouts, we look forward to providing an optimal showcase environment for you and your team to attend.
We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you on the field in the coming months. We’d like to thank all of our USYS National League families, staff and volunteers for your ongoing support of USYS as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment. The safety and security of our soccer community is, and always will be, our highest priority.
