Homegrowns Omir Fernandez and Ben Mines connect on a first-half goal to help the New York Red Bulls (3-3-1, 10 pts) earn a draw with the New England Revolution (2-1-4, 10 pts), 1-1 on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
New York earned at least a point at New England for just the 14th time in 37 MLS regular-season matches.
Off a throw in, Fernandez drove the ball towards the top of the 18-yard box and dished to Mines, who quickly slotted his pass behind the Revolution defense for Fernandez. Fernandez took one touch and finished to the near post for the opening goal in the 35th minute.
The Revolution tallied the equalizer six minutes later as Gustavo Bou tallied his third goal of the season.
Fernandez tallied his third MLS regular-season goal and fourth goal across all competitions. It was the Bronx native's first goal as a starter, having started in four previous MLS regular-season matches.
New England native Mines recorded his first MLS regular-season assist in just his second career MLS start. He tallied his first MLS goal in his first MLS start against Portland in 2018.
Goalkeeper Ryan Meara tallied four saves on five shots in the draw. Meara has allowed one goal or fewer in 16 of 26 MLS regular-season matches.
English wingback Mandela Egbo earned his first career MLS start after making his first career MLS appearance just three days prior in Philadelphia.
