Connetquot re-opening plan says no athletics. It then also mentions that the state pushed the season start date to Sep 21st so it's possible that they mean no sports at first, not no sports at all.

Syosset school district has cancelled all Fall sports

Hard to stay positive. I think any club based athletic activity will provide us with a preview of public school system openings and protocols.

Any tournaments played in August will present a foreshadowing event to the possibilities in September. Any breakouts of the virus could affect how and when schools open.

Consider any mass athletic activity as a dress rehearsal for September school openings. Let’s hope for the best...

Sachem Board announced last night that there will be no fall sports. And probably no winter sports.

Riverhead school district has announced there will be no fall sports and I believe also no spring sports. They’re dealing with budgetary issues in addition to the virus.

Big East is cancelled all High Schools will follow suit

Let’s get the election over with do we can all go back to normal

HS Soccer season is ON, starting 9/21. Recently NYSPHSAA, on 8/14 even sent clarifying memo defining okay for hybrid learning students to be eligible after meeting certain criteria. Long Island Youth Leagues also ON, working on schedules right now.

That is not a definite. The announcement was made before colleges started canceling. Schools are not holding class everyday so why would teams practice everyday? Will they want to invite students from other schools to their school if they can’t even have all of their own students there every day? What is one positive at a high school, are unable to play games because we don’t know who was infected? Now with colleges canceling, do high schools want the liability? Just seems like a lot of questions that will cause schools to decide against the fall season.

Sports practices do not have nearly as many kids as a regular school day would have. Colleges are a different story, there is an international as well as inter state factor.

Exactly. None of the kids in high school will interact with anyone that’s conducted interstate travel. And those players don’t go to school, so therefore will never interact with students in a regular school day.

We will see. Schools have not submitted anything yet to state to get clearance. Nys just pushed the start date back to give them time. All leagues are waiting to get the official word. Let’s hope it is a go. Championships and playoffs or not. The kids want to play.
