Is that a joke ? I drove by a 8-10 year old baseball GAME, no masks on spectators, kids sitting in dugout right next to each other hitting each other , fooling around like always. What is soccer special ??? We should postpone hosting the World Cup, even with the increased # of teams we will not qualify. ALL soccer should end in America, we suck forever !!!

You do understand that these organizations are obligated to lay these out for liability purposes, right? That way they're not liable when dickheads like you do your own thing.

Btw, washing your hands is good practice in case that escaped you too.

Here’s the problem with all the COVID guidelines whether they are provided by employers, government or organizations like leagues-

It’s all about enforcement and compliance. If you do not in some way put a price on non compliance then people will not comply.

Why do I know this? We see it everywhere. After all I am a referee, and if I wasn’t allowed to call fouls and use yellow and red cards then I would be a worthless fool on the field.

Everyone talks about returning to play. No one talks about how many may not participate. Look at MLS, MLB, the NBA and the NFL. Players that make millions of dollars have decided to sit out for their families and are foregoing MILLIONS of dollars.

Is the youth game worth getting sick? Don’t get me wrong I miss it terribly, We all do. But I do believe that many Coaches, players and Referees will not rush back after making all the sacrifices that have been made since March.

Since you are a referee and more in the know with your colleagues. Will there be referees willing to return to the fields?

Really? With so many refs of a certain age, I find that hard to believe.

I don’t have any hard data but Larry is right there are many many referees over the age of 50 and the median age has to be quite high. I believe many will sit out because they cannot afford to take a risk.

I think all checkin procedures will end. We will need to send opposing coaches and refs the roster the day before. Cards will be on the honor system and some scumbag coaches will cheat.

Even if that happens there will probably still be enough refs because there will be a fraction of the normal games played this fall between teams folding, clubs not getting access to fields and the end of teams playing in two leagues at once every weekend now that NYCSL has switched to using USYSA passes.

Another anonymous Covodiot strikes again! I have been close enough to players to get splashed with their sweat Mr. Expert. Fauci was reportedly taking a break to drink some water!

Please tell us what University you attended for your Masters Degree in Epidemiology! While social distancing may be encouraged during a game I have had players run in to me. If you are willing to get close to young people (which seem to be the best non symptomatic carriers) by all means step up to the plate and become a referee!

As far as player passes LIJSL had already introduced digital player passes so they can just implement those immediately.

Just went by Oceanside park and they had games being played with Refs. Seems like those refs didn't have a problem with it.

I did not say all referees would stay away, clearly all the professional leagues have referees. Pay attention now, I said many may stay away because they have a high median age and possibly higher risks than a young whippersnapper like you!

The digital passes are highly unreliable. They would have to make a bunch of fixes in order to use them.

Probably late September, some parks/fields are not accepting permit applications until beginning of September. Randall's Island I know is September 1st for accepting field permit applications so figure how many teams/clubs access those fields?

What do you expect to hear? Return to play guidelines issued on July 23. Maybe they should tell you there is nothing established yet as procedures are being finalized to return to the field. Boy that would be big news
