*VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE* ABOUT UST AND DIX HILLS SC

Parents,

As a volunteer of this organization since 2003, I write to you with a very heavy heart.

After 42 years, Dix Hills Soccer Club may have met its match. It is our belief we have been duped, and in turn YOU have been duped, by an individual that we hired, with the best of intentions, to bring professional training to our members. As the President of Dix Hills S.C. (DHSC), I pushed to hire Kozy Ikwuazom to be the club’s Director of Coaching for a very healthy monthly fee, which the club could not afford, but I trusted Kozy’s promise to grow our club. His remit was to train our players and to help them achieve their individual best, while creating a fun, healthy environment as well as to help the club grow its membership, by fielding young soccer teams that play the Beautiful Game the way it was intended to be played. DHSC allowed Kozy to grow his new organization, Ultimate Soccer Training (UST), by creating an exclusive training relationship with him, thus providing him the stability to hire a team of trainers and grow his brand. DHSC has supplied the fields, lights, winter training facilities, insurance, league fees, etc., while UST billed our parents directly for its training services. This relationship brought value to our players and to our organization, and DHSC was content with it, as the club was growing.

But…

It seems DHSC let the fox into the hen house:

In the past few weeks, UST created a new year-long training contract and *demanded* that Dix Hills parents sign it “within 48 hours” to the tune of nearly $2,000 per year with additional fees for tournaments, indoor facilities, mandatory Camp / Clinic fees, (all “TBA”). All fees are “non-refundable”, “non-transferable” and due up front with an option to pay monthly with the issuance of a credit card.

3 days afterward (after the 48 hours window), UST informed the parents (you) to hold off on paying the DHSC registration fee.
UST then informed the parents that UST is separating from DHSC and aligning under the banner of another club, NY Surf.
UST told its “new members” to immediately demand a refund from DHSC.

DHSC has been inundated with refund requests. In fact, prior to receiving these requests, we did not even know this coup to steal our teams and players was happening.

Under the cloak of darkness, Kozy turned UST into USTFC, convinced parents to sign a new agreement, and then shifted them over to a new organization altogether after they signed the agreement under the assumption that they were still part of DHSC. UST *stole* 19 teams and 242 players right out from under our non-profit, community organization, all under the guise of their role as the Director of Coaching for DHSC, leaving the club with several large bills to pay and demands for refunds from its members.

I am certain that none of you were fully aware of the situation. I know that many parents value and appreciate the hard-working trainers that UST provides, which is why we partnered with them, but you were all tricked into signing up for something that was not what it was made out to be. I have heard from many parents who feel betrayed, but they do not want to prevent their child from playing with their friends. It is DHSC’s opinion that this is the antithesis of a lesson we would want to teach any of your children. Above all, sports is about life lessons, character-building, sportsmanship, learning how to win and lose while following the rules, and playing with integrity. UST does not represent those values.

There is, still time….

The contract you may have signed is NOT legally enforceable given that it was under false pretenses. Your credit card company will absolutely refund your fees, as they have done for many already. The leagues are still available for registration by any team in our club throughout the month of July, and if you prefer to stay, then DHSC can still register any player. If you choose to move on, DHSC will not hold any player pass hostage or prevent any child from playing elsewhere, but if you are concerned that UST has any leverage over you, **THEY DO NOT**.

Our town soccer club, which has been around since 1978, will be absolutely decimated – and will likely not be able to continue, if all of you leave to follow this unethical, back-handed organization.

There is strength in numbers. Your teams can stay together. I know full well that your sons and daughters just want to play with their friends, and that you just want what is best for them, but I encourage you to STAY with Dix Hills Soccer Club. I have had conversations with numerous training organizations who are ready and willing to work with your teams, but I cannot commit to them without your confirmation that you wish to stay.

I again ask that you take the attached survey. It is 100% confidential. We believe that most of you were not aware of what you signed up for with UST, and we would like to get a sense for where people stand. Maybe your whole team wants to stay, but no one is willing to be the first to jump from the UST ship. We will find out through the anonymous survey and let you know.

Please, take the survey.

Kozy will pressure you not to, but it will take just 1 minute of your time and it could save Dix Hills Soccer Club from extinction.

And the above is the reality of the sad state of affairs in youth soccer today. How pathetic that you bring in a training person, they make good money working with you're players and then it's just not enough for them. Of course they want to charge parents thousands and have no regard for the rest of the community club. Really sad, but not surprising.

Dix Hills has always been an outstanding athletic town.

Hope you take legal action as this fool has been unethical everywhere he goes

and the parents with Kozy go along with business as usual. As long as their kid gets playing time and pipe dreams of a scholarship - who cares who else is involved.

Message to Dix Hills SC members
Martin Targett
President
Dix Hills SC

First, Dix Hills Soccer Club, must apologize for not communicating sooner, as the club has only recently been enlightened with what has been going on behind its back which had been planned for months.

On Thursday July 2nd, Dix Hills Soccer Club was informed by Ultimate Soccer Training (UST) and Exclusive Soccer Training (EST) that they would no longer be affiliated with Dix Hills Soccer Club.

Please understand that you (as of today) are all still members of Dix Hills Soccer Club.

The option provided to you by Ultimate Soccer Training (UST) is not your only option, and you should not feel pressured or rushed into making that decision.

We would like to say that Dix Hills Soccer Club will do everything in its power to help and support all of its members, past and present, as it always has and always will.

Should you wish to stay with Dix Hills Soccer Club, we will do everything to ensure that we maintain our high quality of service by providing your children with a team to play on - either keeping you all or by finding new players to make your teams whole. I wish to reiterate that you should not feel pressured into thinking that you have NO OPTIONS and that you must leave Dix Hills Soccer Club. [This is simply not the case].

Dix Hills Soccer Club has been around since 1978 and will be around for many more years. During these many years Dix Hills SC teams have won numerous state championships and many of those teams went on to play at the Regional and National level, arguably the highest level of competition in the United States. With you, at the heart of this club, we look forward to continuing this trend of success. We are also a club with ties to our local community as we run programs for all levels of play including TOPSOCCER (The Outreach Program for Soccer), training and team placement program for young athletes with special needs.

In addition, the club is actively working on a partnership with the New York Red Bulls, to offer full team training, developmental player support and summer camps for all of our members which will be activated very soon.

Please, if any parent wishes their child to remain a member of Dix Hills Soccer, you can send an email immediately to me, Martin Targett, PRESIDENT@DIXHILLSSOCCERCLUB.COM

Many of you have emailed requesting refunds, please be patient as the club determines its next step.

Thank you for your time

Martin Targett

Marty should have done his homework! This is what happens when you take the club away from a professional and hand it over to an amateur. Nobody to watch over ALL the mistakes the wanna be soccer people make.

All clubs on Long Island should stand in solidarity with you and boycott any games with them. Time to take the game back from organizations like this.

This is ridiculous. I'm not involved, but I'm in a town club and Im outraged. We need to start a social media campaign.
1) Does NY Surf know who they are getting into bed with? Let's let them know...
2) We should kill UST and Kozy on Facebook / twitter, etc. There are many innocent parents who should know what they're getting into
3) Are the leagues aware of this? Larry, how do we get to ENYYSA and EDP? Do they know?

Our club has been debating hiring a training company to be its DOC. Maybe its not such a good idea.

Absolutely! There should be a letter posted that is signed by every club President stating that their club will not participate in any games with this rogue outfit. Surf should step up here and do the right thing.

Has this been confirmed elsewhere that Kozy and NY Surf are in bed together? I can't find it anywhere on either's website or social media.

SURF is on life support, they just took the poors mans version of the SUSA model to get some warm bodies. Gave KOZY a couple dollar raise in exchange for some teams.

Drain the swamp

Love this idea. I'm in. And before that, if they show up on your division alignment, let the division director know you won't be taking the field for that match.

This what of never happened with CW around! He managed to run that club for over 20 years keeping all the screw balls in line while building quality teams and more than tripling the club size in his tenure. Not someone who can be replaced. Served that community well for a long time until he ran into a bunch of scum bag parents! I guess what goes around comes back around! Moral of the story! Don’t replace a genuine long time proven professional with a rep to protect with garbage!

If your club is looking to hire a training company that's fine. Get three proposals up front and interview them all carefully. Once hired, someone on the Board needs to oversee their activities as DOC, the training company is just that, a training company. Also, they need to sign a non-compete clause that they will not poach players to play for their academy if they have one. They should never have direct access to players info as well. All comms should come through your club and on a team level, the team manager/coach. Do not under any circumstances just allow free reign for the training company.

Neither EDP or ENYYSA really care, especially EDP. As long as those teams play EDP and card through ENYYSA the money is who does the talking.

As far as NY Surf caring, let me ask you what do they have to lose as they are hanging by a thread anyway. Why do you think they got involved with Kozy? The club is already in the toilet so adding Kozy to the bowl seems like the natural thing to do.

If clubs come out and say they will not play them then they are dead in the water. Great idea. Need to send a message to these clowns but clubs need to stop outsourcing to organizations and hire their own coaches.
