Here is the problem with tournaments. If you leave the state when you get back to NY you have to quarantine for 14 days. So, it only makes sense to play in tournaments on LI and that would be the Rough Riders so far with events in July and early August.

Remember, you license plate gets scanned when you go through payless tolls, so the state will know when you left and came back if they go that far to trace and they will if if the downslide turns around.....think about it

I don't disagree - tournaments need to start locally on a small scale - potentially restricting participation to local teams.
Down the road going to NJ or CT should be ok - they are in the same situation....

It's too bad you can't fire a governor for incompetence. Forget red or blue for a minute, some of them just have no common sense. Wear the damn mask, be safe, and in a few months these states will have this under control.

What is the exact language from ENYYSA? For competition organized in the area covered or for passes issued by ENYYSA?

How about Club Soccer passes?

Any idea which organization will issuing passes for new mls academy?

Anyone carrying a USYSA pass issued in Eastern New York is banned from all competition until at least August 17th. They sent out an e-mail to all clubs being quite explicit about this. There is no wiggle room.

US Club has the same exact guidelines as USYSA. Only with the collapse of NYCSL there is no longer any local US governing league in our area to make it crystal clear to it's members like ENYYSA did.

Besides, existing US Club passes expire July 31st and with NYCSL being gone, you won't have a valid US Club pass to use for an August 1st tournament.

If you are in Eastern NY, no matter what pass you have you can't, at least not with insurance and a sanctioning bodies permission, go play in Jeff Cup.

of course there is wiggle room. enyssa can't control what parents or kids do on their own time. they can play soccer if a tournament accepts them and doesn't require passes. july 6 ny state allows competitions.

No pass=no insurance. Did you think before making that post? What legitimate tournament doesnt accept passes?

So I guess that league in Oceanside has no insurance then?

Correct as far as we can see which is why we wont allow it on here. A very dangerous and selfish move on the part of OUSC, but not surprising. Screw the kids and parents.

Our advice is to NOT entertain any of these 3rd party for-profit seemingly innocent events. They are anything but innocent.

Coaches who coach outside the league sanctioning bodies can get "coaches insurance" on their own for about $100 a year. Though I have a feeling that even that insurance will not cover the coach if he violates local and state guidelines on return to play.

You play at your own risk and your own insurance - just like every kid does when they go out and play with their friends.

Except in this case, OUSC and facility where the issue happened will be libel. I'm not in the insurance business, but some insurance policy with an annual premium of $100 can't cover a 6 figure lawsuit. Since it is your call go for it. Let me know how your family made out at the end of August. WAIT!! Are you the guys scamming this uninsured event?

You play with your insurance as primary and the league/tournament insurance is secondary. Get a bad injury and the bills add up. Pay a deductible and the player pass insurance helps a lot. But you also forget the required tournament insurance. Where is that coming from? No one going to issue that and anyone who violates the terms of the policy won't be covered.

You are OK with gambling with your kid just to play in some meaningless, uninsured quasi soccer tournament in the middle of this health crisis? You should write a book on parenting.

For $125 you can become a member of United Soccer Coaches and it includes $1,000,000 in liability insurance. But like I said, I don't think it would cover you if you decided to do something against state and local guidelines, like coach in an unsanctioned local tournament taking place before the USSF return to play guidelines allow such a thing.

As for the rest of you, the big insurance issue isn't health insurance. It's liability insurance. And it's not just the coaches that need to be covered, the players need such coverage as well.

This is what is says on ENYYSA side:

In addition, we would like to reiterate that in accordance New York State Department of Health Interim Guidance for
Sports and Recreation, moderate-risk activities (soccer) can start on July 6, 2020 excluding competitive tournaments
of multiple games, meets, matches or scrimmages requiring travel. As of right now, New York State has not provided
any information on when tournaments requiring travel can resume.

If tournament doesn't require travel (local) does it mean it is allowed or is it just poor wording?

Poor wording. The July 6th reference is to what NY State said as a general statement for moderate-risk sports. USSF has it's position on when it is safe specifically to play soccer and broke it down into several phases. Phase I is 9 or less kids training with their own balls while maintaining social distancing. Phase II is a bit more but still no full team competition. It isn't until Phase III that any full competitions can begin. And Phase III for all of ENYSSA at this point has been determined to be August 17th date. And even then they are talking about local one game a day competitions, not traveling for multi-game per day traditional tournaments. Phase IV is when things go back to normal and you can go to big tournaments and they didn't give a specific date for that yet.

Here is the e-mail from ENYYSA that was just sent with some updates. Still no full team competition as noted in the second paragraph until Phase III. And the chart that was in the e-mail lists Phase III as starting on August 17th. So no, no full team competitive games until August 17th and again, that still does not mean large tournaments.

ENYYSA remains committed to providing all members with the most up-to-date information regarding return to play
activities. In recent days, US Soccer has revised its guidelines to include small-sided-games and set-play activities in
Phase II. We have updated our guidelines in accordance with US Soccer’s changes. We ask that you strictly adhere to
the phases of play as laid out in the chart below.

US Soccer’s Play On Guidelines also do not allow
for full team competitions until Phase III. For the health and safety of all members, Eastern New York Youth Soccer
Association fully supports the phased approach of return to play set forth by New York State and US Soccer.

That’s much more than the [****] lies coming from Trump and the red state govs. Be thankful that Cuomo over-prepared and that NYS is in good shape because of it. I bet Texas and Florida surpass NY’s hospitalization and death rates before all of this is over - and that will be because those idiots can only learn experientially and cow-tow to the idiot-in-chief.
