After three seasons in operation, Barça Academy PRO New York is changing the way it is managed and during the forthcoming 2020-21 campaign it will be run solely by FC Barcelona. The presence of the Barça offices in the heart of New York City has driven the school in this direction, the aim being for the club to have a greater influence on the development of grassroots soccer in the United States. The new season will kick off with two academies run 100% by the club, one in New York and the other Miami, the only two outside of Barcelona.

The Barça Academy PRO New York, which began its activities in July 2017, was the first in the world to be granted PRO status, which implies greater control by FC Barcelona of the sporting aspect, with an important ratio of coaches trained at Barça Escola Barcelona.

This means the club will be focusing even more strongly on young players in the Tri-State Area in a season that will start on August 17. However, the current 2019-20 players will also be taking part in a two-week preseason that will begin on August 3.

Last February, the Barça Academy project announced its first school that is controlled directly from the club, the Barça Academy PRO Miami, which will also open its doors this August. Activities have already commenced at this academy, with the first virtual try-outs, while the first Barça Academy Camp is being planned for this summer to continue gathering participants for the new campaign.

The importance of the American market for FC Barcelona is shown by the fact that the USA is currently the country with the most active Barça Academy projects, a total of eleven, practically one in four of the 46 in the world. including Barça Academy PRO NY and Miami, Barça Residency Academy Arizona and the Barça Academy in Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, Columbus, Nashville, Northern Virginia, Orlando and San Diego. This journey, which began five seasons ago, has allowed us to continue consolidating the presence of the Barça Academy in the country, where close to 10,000 children enjoy the club philosophy and playing style, both in the academies and the Barça Academy Camps.

FC Barcelona also wishes to thank all the players and their families for continuing to put their trust in the club's methodology and values for their children's sporting education. We hope to be able to enjoy a great new season with all the athletes who are involved in the Barça Academy PRO development projects.

Where will practices be held for the upcoming season? As New Yorkers we need to know before we commit. It is tryout season, and Barca would get a higher number of players the more information parents have. Barca has now made a name for themselves In their level of coaching...now manage the logistics of the teams ,or ask for help.

They can’t compete with the big clubs like SUSA and EM. FC Barcelona has no chance in Long Island. They have a better chance in Queens better following. SUSA and EM training has more experience then whatever they bring into the United States.

Most Barca Teams actually beat the associated SUSA Team at the same level (EDP/NPL)

A few exerts from the new FC Barce website:

The ACADEMY teams are coached by local coaches who have previous experience working with the BARÇA Academy and who are in constant formation in the BARÇA Methodology one time a week.
- So now the teams are coached by locals?

Players that are part of this program train three times per week and participate in external competitions, such as regional and national leagues as well as national and international tournaments.
- Where are they training three times a week?

Sounds promising, all in the name to keep their top level players from jumping ship. But I have to wonder.....what will their top level players gain from this club, besides just playing for a name?? I don't know.....so many talented and accomplished players will be stuck if Barca don't do right by them....

All the Pro Teams (top teams in each age group) will have a coach from Spain. The remaining teams will have local trainers. Pro Teams train 4 nights a week in season (Spring for older age groups), Fall (HS) and Winter will be 2-3 nights a week. 04, 05 and 06 teams all top 3 in Got Soccer NY State if anyone cares since those points make no sense. All 3 would do just fine in new MLS League. Costs are less than SUSA, Met Oval, etc.

well just what I heard, and this plays to the Spaniard in the Barca methodology. The girls teams will not get Spanish Barca coaches. All the top Spanish Barca coaches are being held exclusively for the boys teams. As per the conversation I heard it was because only the boys can progress to a top level so they must focus with them, as they need to show results. Talk about misogynistic mentality. It is thing like that will cause people to second think the club. Doesn't matter if they are operated directly by Barca. In this #metoo world, it is something that can blow up on them.
Women are second class in their opinion. Did anyone tell them that in America, only women's soccer counts since they are the only ones that actually win anything and get news coverage?

In the entire mens soccer maybe they have a handful of players that no one has heard of, maybe one star like the kid Pulsic.

They need to get to know their market.

Not on the Girls side. Even the girls PRO(A teams) get locals. That may be the case for the boys. They had a video conference with girls parents last week and dropped the bomb.

Whether you are with the club or not, this will be good news for the teams. It will now be run the way it should've been. Although they still need to do things a bit faster though LOL This is NY for sake.

I'm anxious to see how the lower tier teams react when only the Pro teams get the real coaches and they are left with local coaching. You know parents egos when it comes to their kids.

If they don’t get out:

1: who the team coaches will be?
2: where they are practicing?

Immediately.
There will be teams folding (on the girls side anyway)
A parent wants the BEST. Barca is the best.
What they have struggled at is EASY to fix.
That is the most frustrating thing.

They have over 130 girls in their program right now. They are looking to expand every age group to include at least 2 teams. Right now from 2008 to 2004 have one team in each age group. The younger ones have 2

I hope they do make the girls side bigger and better. More girls will force them to add another Barcelone coach to train them- it Would be a smart move for the girls to be trained with the Barca Methodology anyway.

Barcelona is the most organized club in Long Island. They have the financial backup and can really fix Long Island soccer if they start gobbling up all the small clubs. They need to affiliate themselves with all clubs and have one central base...Barcelona FC is a real training organization with the proper curriculum in place to develop players unlike other organizations who we know just downloads material on line. Barcelona actually trains they’re trainers to run proper training sessions for each age group.

Coaches come form Spain, NOT players- You can only do so much with what is given to you.I'm sure any girls or boys that have joined have improved. Would love to see one of your club teams play a Barca NY Pro Team. Then I'd ask for your coaches license and rip it up. You are way too comical to be taken seriously.

Organized? Not so far. Most of the coaches will be local coaches so what's the big deal? As far as girls go I would definitely take a pass on this club. It's a no-brainer.
