I'm talking about formal training. And I'm talking about liability insurance. If a coach trains a kid and a kid gets hurt, the coach is then personally liable.

You are correct and there would also be no secondary insurance that comes with a player registration as no training with a team or 1 v 1 is sanctioned.

Another COVIDIOT strikes again. You may ask yourself why ANY youth soccer player, no matter what level of play, what age group really needs that EDGE, that elusive edge that irrational adults subject them to because the need to win, the need to be better is more important than life itself?

I try to always be an optimist but I am also a realist and I see that too much emphasis is put on winning, many posters on these boards bring bragging rights as to what club is better what team, trainer or coach get results, that drives people to spend obscene levels of Money for the holy grail that is not there.

Nobody respects development, everyone wants to win every game, the kids just want to have fun. We all miss the game, not all of us want to rush back though.

Time to get on the field for real programs not cupcake daddies. You sit back and wait until summer 2021. LIJSL will wait for you.

That’s your best response? Time to come up with an answer that makes sense other than a juvenile response tough guy/girl.

Rush back in - must be the mentality of the brainwashed. Sounds like advice from an overpriced trainer who has nothing else going on but to try to take from the wallets of the weak minded , keep up with the jones' type people. Relax - your kid is most likely not getting a scholarship for soccer, so stop trying to live out your dreams through them. But hey, at least you got some nice gear out of it.

I think that until we see what the schools are going to do that all youth sports are on hold especially soccer on Long Island since the large amount of fields used belong to the school districts.

If thousands can protest in streets why can’t be have a soccer practice with ten kids? Any thoughts? Seems like thousands protesting acceptable? Not to much talk of virus and safety during protests?

If a player gets sick, we will know because they should have temperature checks daily registered to an app, and they will then be isolated, and so on and so forth. Liability IS and should continue to be waived for Covid related incidents. This is the "new normal" we should all be thinking about and discussing

After reading this post and reflecting a bit on everything over the past couple months including what’s happening in Minneapolis (and Manhattan, Brooklyn) it’s too often that people focus on highlighting a problem, instead of fixing it. It’s too easy (and often wrong) to judge through narrow or limited perspective, without taking time to display empathy. It’s also very immature and ultimately completely non productive. If nothing else, let’s hope the pandemic has forced everyone to realize that we all have the ability (and as adults) the responsibility (and as part of a functioning society, the necessity) to be problem solvers. Not anonymous obnoxiously critical or vitriolic when speaking of other clubs or school district policies intended to protect health, not disrespectful to general public health by refusing to wear a mask in confined public spaces, not looters and rioters in the streets who are putting lives of innocent officers and civilians at risk. It’s not acceptable to live selfishly or as an ass. Enough already.

On another note it appears that NJ has given the green light to allow youth sports to start June 22 with none contact training. This will at least allow organized training on a limited basis and only in outdoor locations. sports and day camps can start in early July. not sure what that will mean for NY but i expect similar action will occur there.

Time to open up everything, virus political crap as you can see news moved on to other things like rioting in streets thousands, no talk of safety no more. Virus looks very dangerous to people as they light buildings on fire and cars? Everybody please enough... they got permits those thousands not wearing masks? Ridiculous

Conservatism used to be a good thing to counteract liberalism with constraints. Today Conservatives have allowed Trump to totally highjack the movement and now has allowed a free pass for the extreme members of that movement to say FU to anyone who makes a reasonable argument of why everything including sports should re-open slowly.

You hear them say”just open everything up” with no reasonable argument.

Their choice of reason is standing at state capitols with AK47 & AR15 assault rifles and argue their rights are being violated. The same harassment you read from these anonymous cowards on this sight. Calling people names saying how everything should open NOW, TODAY.

With absolutely no thought other than their demands. Glad no elected officials are falling for that intimidation. When Trump conservatives make the same baseless argument about what they call Liberalism it’s because they can’t argue with not only using common sense but the metrics show the truth about the spikes of this virus throughout the country and the Trump crowd want to ignore the truth.

They will deal with it when and if it comes.

The Governors of N.Y./NJ are listening to the medical community not these Trump supporters who have no common sense to begin with.

I have taken a long bike ride through the city and I have seen a lot of kids (and adults) playing soccer, volleyball, socializing.

This is going to happen over all summer months - there is no way you'll keep most of the kids in the isolation over summer months - it doesn't make sense to continue to ban outdoor sports in summer - this is moderate risk at most and any bans would not move a needle in terms of infection rates.
