Dear SUSA Families,

We hope this email finds you well. This week US Club Soccer published this email stating that the return-to-play decision making has been delegated to local government. Since most of NY State has not yet started Phase 1 of reopening, it seems highly unlikely that we will be able to participate in league play in the coming weeks. Based on the current information, SUSA is granting the following credits to our members to be applied to the 2020/21 season:

Annual tuition of $3,000 plus = $375 credit

Annual tuition of $2,000 plus = $275 credit

Annual tuition of $1,600 plus = $175 credit

*Tuition amount above is based on the net amount paid to SUSA.

Any tournaments that were included and missed in the 2019/20 season will be added next year. Any remaining balance in the team account will be rolled into next season’s budget or refunded by the team admin.

Here are two options available to you regarding your 2020/21 tuition credit:

1. Support our cause: We hope that you continue to support the Long Island youth soccer community by donating your credit to NYSEF https://nationalyouthsef.org which supports underprivileged local players. This would provide tuition assistance to children in underserved communities. Your credit will automatically be converted into a tax-deductible donation and your family will be included on the published SUSA Donors List. To donate your credit and receive documentation, please click here https://sports.formstack.com/forms/youthdonation

2. If you wish to apply your credit to next season it will be applied to your final installment in March 2021.

There are many variables that go into running the club under these unforeseen circumstances. Including, but not limited to, staff retention, club management, club overhead, member communication, individual program home workouts, expenses from leagues, cups and tournaments. Refunds are not available for players who choose not to return. Credits will be applied to player accounts in good standing only. If you still owe tuition for the 2019/20 season you are responsible for the balance. Please contact us as soon as possible to take care of any outstanding balances so that you do not miss out on receiving your credit.

We thank you for your support during this difficult time. We miss our players tremendously and cannot wait to return to play.

Please continue to stay safe.

Keep Loving Soccer...

Stunning in so many ways. Small credit and it gets applied to 2021, so you have to shell out extra money before then. Will they pay interest on that loan?
If you leave them they do not give you a cent back! This cannot be legal and is an insult to the LI Soccer community, and all the parents in an area that got hit so hard.

Dear SUSA Families,

We hope this email finds you well. We want to provide you with an update on the spring/summer season for the 2002 teams. Based on state governments and the soccer governing bodies, the spring season looks like it will not be played and tournaments over the summer will be in jeopardy.

SUSA would to do the following for the seniors:

Offer the seniors a $300 tuition refund to all players in good financial standing. The refund will be distributed in August.
Continue to provide online and virtual workouts for players from now until they head to college.
If we can get outside, we as a staff would continue to train all players until they leave for their individual collegiate programs.
We are also working on senior gifts for all players that we would normally distribute at the team's last home game. However, during this pandemic, that does not look like a possibility so we will find alternative plans for the distribution.

We thank you for your support during this difficult time. We miss our players tremendously and cannot wait to return to play.

Please continue to stay safe. If you have any questions, please reach out to James Kelsh on the boys side and myself on the girls side.

Be well and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the field when it is safe.

This Is weak - this is Not a refund this is a deferral a credit for future use at end of next season

verb (used with object)
to give back or restore (especially money); repay.
to make repayment to; reimburse.

You cannot get your money back if you leave proof this is not a refund....

A travesty from an organization that is building probably a $5million+ facility. This is what happens when competition disappears and crazy parents are chasing a college scholarship. This clearly shows that SUSA believes they are the end all be all of LI soccer and unfortunately they are right. I have to say they have some set of soccer balls!

So a whole spring season, no tournaments and practices and only getting a 10% refund! Hopefully the contracts have verbiage that give SUSA an out or I can see a lot of people going to small claims court!

This is such BS its criminal. Larry there has to be some type of legal obligation to refund the money? This is a perfect example of how this is a business with no
Concern for the children and there families. People are losing there businesses and homes the least they can do is refund the money being that they are building a 5 million dollar complex. I wish my child played for them i would notify shame shame shame lol.

Sounds like a great club that really cares about their players, their families, and doing what’s right. Quality club #SUSATHEFT

This just shows that SUSA no longer cares about developing players and creating a well respected culture where coaches value learning and respect over money. Think about all the people losing their own jobs, businesses and struggling to make ends meet and this is how they are dealing with this issue. This really is concerning to see in a time where you would think that people would be more conscious and empathetic of others, and not offer a credit ONLY if you return and spend more money, and not even prorate the value of the refund.

Not a surprise from my perspective. Never thought any refund viable (business models just not set up as such) so those preaching “contract law” weeks ago, please adjust your thinking. What has happened, is that clubs have collected - and now are keeping “paid in advance fees” for essentially nothing in return, in order to protect their own financial interests (in some cases personal) and to retain training staff. John Q Public takes another one in the groin and foots the bill.

Also standing by expectation that games WILL NOT be played prior to 2021 (high school or club) here in downstate NY. Too much to plan, coordinate, put in place and test prior to then.

Talk about being COCKY, they know between their complex and the leagues they play in that NO ONE IS LEAVING. I also take away that they think we might not be playing in the fall so to keep the cash flow rolling they deferred credit to 21

What you say may be correct, but I do think this was a game changer. This really hits home and if SUSA thinks they can just do as they please, they should think again.

Their list of expenses is very fluffy, I would love to know how many on their staff are actually getting paid. I could be wrong, but I would be shocked if its many.

And im being charged for "member communication"? So emails that people write in their PJ's at home is an expense I have to cover?? LOL

If I owned one of those companies that phone people and tries to scam them out of money I would be sitting in a susa field parking lot getting everyone's license plate number so I could get their contact information. Biggest suckers on Long Island with money to give away!
