East Meadow is a town club. It is an LIJSL Club, and with some luck they were able to pull off ECNL because they were awake when most, if not all of the LIJSL were sleeping. They got NPL first because I, yes me, got the then EM president and VP to meet with Grossman at the Harvest Diner. I can tell you that EM made a decision to go balls deep into NPL, before my second cup of coffee. That's how it started.

I know this club and most of its people better than most, and many of them know me.

Would you recommend sending your kid there?

No, I would not. I can also say that my daughter played at East meadow when the club was run correctly and on the up and up when the late Stan Ruppenthal was president. After Stan's passing the club took a downward turn which continues to today.

Wondering the same.

Larry, if you had an 08 that can potentially play anywhere on Long Island, where would you send her.

Quite candidly, know ing what the future will bring, it wouldn't matter. You child is either fast or she isn't. Your child is either a good athlete or she isn't. As a parent you can tell. No one is going to make you child run faster then she is, or give her the coordination or make smarter just some of fine-tuned abilities that makes a great player. So where ever my hypothetical '08 went would not matter to me . She is not going to be a Mia Hamm.. She should just be happy and look forward to playing with her team.

Well said Larry!!! Probably the smartest comment made in this chat! But you’ll still have that parent that will just say “yeah whatever this guy doesn’t know anything!”

That "guy" is out of your and my control. We have to let him go on his merry way, and wish him the best. He may fool us, but the odds are seriously stacked against him, IMO.

So you’re saying it doesn’t matter if a player is in EM or the bottom team in LIJSL if they are good they will get noticed? What a load of crap you are talking. The fact is the child who plays on an less skilled team in a less skilled league simply won’t developed the way they would if challenged by better competition. If your child is not, was not or won’t ever be a high caliber player please don’t try and shame everyone else into feeling they should settle for less than the best for their child.

Noticed by whom exactly? A coach from some garbage school to possibly get a partial scholarship? Which the amount you are spending on these large programs would be far more than the amount of the partial scholarship? Sure she’ll be a better soccer player if she plays on EM as opposed to some LIJ team, this is common sense. What Larry is saying is, that this time for your daughter, which will be gone all too soon should be where your child is happiest. And unless your daughter is truly talented, which you would know by now, and middle of road kid on EM is not, then save your money and your time.

Anyone hearing rumors that DA is looking to add this age for next year? Most clubs in the area who go DA at U14 are already in that NEDGL league but have heard they will go to true DA.

There was a news item I saw last week saying that this age group was handed back by the BDA to the clubs for the Fall 2020 season

EM will play in D1 this Spring season. They are steadily moving up while Albertson B is steadily moving down.

Stop it, the EM B is playing nowhere near the competition that Alby B is playing

D1 in Nycsl is not what it once was. Em A, AlbyA, Auburndale, Lake Groove A, Surf and Somers are all gone.

Nhp plays to get extra when they’re not playing EDP. And btw alby b beat nhp 3-0 this weekend. Let’s see how Bayern does against this spring.

Alby B has a solid team and played well against NHP this past weekend but let’s not get too excited about winter league scores. It’s very funny how everyone on this site is all about development and not keeping score until they want to compare teams and then it’s all about score!!! Both sides played very well and I’d love for a few of the Alby girls to give NHP a serious look. An NHP/Alby mix could give the EM’s and Susa’s a run for their money.

NHP is playing their weaker girls for development purposes - they don't care about an indoor winter league result.

I posted the comment above and I completely agree. NHP has a great squad. Whenever our teams meet it could go either way.

The post was more to highlight the level of competition that alby b is playing compared to EM b. Besides we ALL keep score.

So when NHP win an indoor game, the parents brag on this thread. When they lose, it's because they are playing the weaker kids. Got it! hahaha

I don't see NHP bragging anywhere on this thread. I see a lot of noise coming what appear to be other teams parents but who knows. What I do know is that there are no instances of bragging on this site form NHP parents. As a parent I feel all these teams are good, depending on the day and personnel it could effect the score but I don't think the score matters as much as the quality of the game. I'm saying that the Alby team played very well last weekend and it was an enjoyable game to watch, regardless of the score. Unfortunately there are other factors that could effect Alby as an organization and I hope if girls are looking for teams they consider NHP. If we can all get to that mindset everyone would be better off.
