It's the start of the Fall 2019/Spring 2020 season. Use this thread for your posts regarding this age group.

Just back from HBC's tournament - that is some nonsense they have going on there. We played HBC U11 boys in our 2nd game - just an embarrassing set of parents from HBC. Low-rent people. And I hate to say it, but your team isn't very skilled - kick and chase. It's not U8 anymore. Terrible style of play to watch at this age group.

I find the pre season tournaments to be a waste of time low quality competition. Who are the top teams for 2009 Fall season?

I would love to hear your opinion on the other area leagues if that’s your take on the CDL league. Can you call it Metro league 2.0, sure, but the aim of the league is to get the top teams playing together and I think it did a good job. There’s something like 200 teams between LIJSL, CJSL, and NYCSL in this age group. Outside the 15 or so odd teams in the league who did they miss? I’m sure there is a couple of teams that slipped through the cracks but but Its a very, very small percentage of the 200 teams.
Are you bitter because your on the outside looking in?

Yes NYCFC only invites certain clubs to participate. Before this year, it was NYSC, WC, DUSC, MSC, Susa, MetO, and TF (can't remember if I'm missing any). This year, they expanded it to include many more teams. Yes it is by invitation, and they try to include only top teams/clubs.

IDK, maybe because Dix Hills is in NYCSL Division 2 and Franklin Square play LIJSL.

Barca and Valencia were not part of NYCFC CDL last year. They only just joined this year. not quite that simple. both are connected but not to nycfc. think about who it could be? maybe the same person that larry reported over a year ago leaked the us club players info to barca. this isn't all as innocent as it may seem. to much money involved from the source and you are the source

No idea what you are talking about. What am I the source of? Are you speaking in code? I do not know who Larry reported over a year ago - can someone clue me in? All I know is that Barca and Valencia are now playing in the NYCFC CDL as of this year. That's all. I know nothing about this conspiracy you speak of.

The Valencia 09 team has always been good. I have watched them and they play a very nice brand of soccer for their age.

When you don't have either finalist from the NY Cup how is it the top league?
Why no score keeping or records?

Why no score keeping or records? The point isn’t winning or losing. It’s development, if you haven’t noticed the US has been doing a very poor job at developing World Class players. We have a very high participation rate and not a very good National Team. Every other part of the world they don’t keep score or standings until 12/13 years old. The focus is on development and having fun. For some reason here in the US we would rather scream and yell at 7-10 year old kids and pressure them to win so much that they stop enjoying playing the game. Maybe if everyone took a step back and thought more about their kids happiness and development it would be more enjoyable for everyone(especially kids).

To the poster above yes NYCFC regularly sends scouts to the CDL games. do they converse with the team coaches to provide technical guidance and observations? or is it purely for recruitment to the DA?

Not true they keep score in other countries as well. Kids keep score from the youngest ages. Sometimes fun is seeing your team at the top of a table. This seems more like a participation medal for everyone, which is great because you keep getting those throughout your life.

All I know is that Barca and Valencia are now playing in the NYCFC CDL as of this year. That's all. I know nothing about this conspiracy you speak of. If you go back and look at the older posts you will read that Gary grossman the guy who runs the nycsl leagues in order to get Barca into his league and stop EDP from getting Barca, which they never wanted, was to make a deal with the Barca folks including his friend Bart Nason they couldn't refuse. Grossman gave the player database to barca allowing them to target specific age groups from his member clubs and their player registration hurting all of his member clubs. His disloyalty to his members was wrong on many levels and hurt some of his biggest member clubs including Atletico, EM, SUSA. and every other member club. It is all about and only about money at nycsl.
