Lansdowne Yonkers 05 playing both NYCSL team-based NPL and EDP North Atlantic Premier Blue?

Where have all the good 05 EDP teams gone? Some lower level teams showing up in those top two divisions.

Some are choosing to play the late fall season EDP so they aren't listed in the existing divisions.

That being said I see some quality teams there.

It seems like the "National League" conferences for 2005 age group are NOT included yet (despite link saying all brackets). If you go to the link for U14 National League and then click U15 National League, the brackets are empty. Some teams are undoubtedly in these National League divisions, such as Westchester Flames.

I believe I saw a note on their site saying those brackets will teams playing a late Fall due to school ball. I wouldn't read anything else into the brackets.

Do the NYCSL Premier divisions at U15 play separate fall and spring seasons with promotion/relegation between them or are they single seasons with pro/rel only over the summer?

Thanks.

Interesting. Certainly explains the number of double-listed teams in the preliminary alignments. Where did you see that?

NYCSL Premier leagues at 2005 will now start the weekend of Oct 19/20. So they reversed their initial stance of starting in September, I am happy they did. It will be a 7 game season. Seems like a number of teams breaking up.

They went back and forth last year multiple times as to whether it was going to be a late fall or full fall season. Not sure it has anything to do with team count as much as it is the nature of the age group.

No 14 year-old athlete should be practicing 6+ times per week plus 2-3 games with no days off, which is what any JV player with an overlapping club season would be forced to do.

My kid is 2005 and just started playing JV at school. For the most part on Long Island is JV normally for 9th&10th graders or do Juniors and Seniors also play JV?

It's rare for a junior to play on JV and almost unheard of for a senior.

In Westchester there is actually at least one school (Scarsdale) with a Varsity B team for all the juniors and seniors that want to play but aren't good enough for Varsity.

There is no rule against a jr or sr playing JV. It is just rare to see a jr or sr want to play jv if they are offered a spot on the team for a couple reasons.

1) The main reason for playing school ball is playing with your friends. (if you are a jr/sr most if not all of your friends are playing varsity).
2) Most programs use the jv teams for development of there 9th and 10th graders for when they become ready for varsity. (unless of course you are a stud 9th /10th grader that can play up).

In summary, as far as i know and remember there is no rule for allowing 11th and 12th graders on jv.

What hype? They compile gotsoccer points by playing constantly.

Why confine yourself to local low-level tournaments when you can also fly to Florida to play travel team tournaments?

They are 0-3-1 in their last 4 games. Why would any parent boast about this team ????

my kid is 8 years and practicing 5 days a week with 2-3 games each weekend with his team mates.
If your 14 year old can't handle the training....oh well.

14 year olds can't actually do that as easily as 8 year olds... the whole puberty, body size and caloric intake differences etc.

It won't last.

Assuming you have no clue about any of this ? Do a little research before you put out a stupid comment about your 8 year vs. a 14 year old. Another newb parent without a clue !

How can you possibly compare an 8 year old with a 14 year old who is in the midst of puberty, constant aches and pains from that, attends high school, practices 2 hours a day on high school team, with sometimes 3 games a week? 8 year olds are still looking for Pokeman and playing kiddie soccer. We have all lived that. My son is in 9th grade, plays varsity and then has to go 3 times a week to club practice then keep up with high school work. Not even a comparison. My advise is to just keep your mouth shut and learn like the rest of us did.

Good luck to all the High school freshman out there. You got this boys!!!

It's a very interesting age and there are boys that went through puberty and there are those that haven't yet. The boys need to balance school work, soccer or other sports, friends, and now possibly liking girls. It's a great age and some will stay with soccer and others will just not want to play anymore for various reasons. Enjoy this because the boys will be finished in a couple of years.

Northport seems to have fallen on tough times at this age group? What is going on up there with the training outfit?
