New York City FC’s Academy is proud to welcome SUSA, a Long Island based club founded in 2001, as the 7th local club Affiliate.
The club’s introduction as an Affiliate of NYCFC allows SUSA unique access to NYCFC Academy training sessions, shared best practices and a direct link with NYCFC.
“We are excited to offer our SUSA players a direct link and pathway to a professional club,” Eddie Hackett, SUSA’s boys Director of Coaching said.
Importantly, SUSA will be able to have teams play in the NYCFC owned and operated City Development League, a U8-U11 league made up exclusively of NYCFC Affiliates aimed at enhancing player development.
“The City Development League format is ideal for player development and creates a fun environment for our players, parents and coaches,” said Dan Kravitsky, SUSA CDL Technical Director.”
SUSA joins the following clubs as affiliates of NYCFC:
World Class FC New York Soccer Club Downtown United SC Manhattan SC Met Oval TSF

Well, I guess this is a move in the right direction to fix that issue.

Let me get this straight, Play in the NYCFC League under SUSA until U11 and hope you get recruited to play DA under NYCFC or else stay at SUSA playing EDP or NPL? But again there is nothing better in Long Island at this time.

I seem to recall something about extending or graduating into the pre-academy teams in the U12, U13, & U14 age groups.

So I guess the SUSA girls teams are now affiliates of the NYCFC GDA?? You guessed wrong. SUSA girls will NOT be GDA because SUSA is an ECNL club on the girls side......

Thanks Larry, but I did not mean as a separate club. Was thinking something similar to NYSC GDA as their best players eventually move over to NYCFC, just like the boys side.

I see your point and for right now, I would say your thoughts would be on the boys side. Right now, I see and agree with what you say, but for boys side of SUSA.

Larry....my thoughts on this are that this is another alliance that limits the growrh of nyscl Basically removes potential Metro/NPL teams.....same point to EDP but to a much lesser extent since they already took the best teams from npl....
Another thought is that it appears a number clubs with girls ECNL teams are part of this a way to unify the boys side of the clubs that do niot have ECNL
Your thoughts?

I think you are on the money as to how this will limit NYCSL. I’m of the opinion that NYCSL was told this will happen. NYCSL is under attack from EDP in a big way.
SPOILER ALERT: EDP would like to have a person on the ground in NYC and on Long Island to work with teams and clubs.
If you’re interested and qualified please feel free to contact me and I will forward your resume to the right people.
Great post Cross It and you’re spot on.

Does this affiliation with NYCFC increase SUSA chances of getting DA status?

Does this affiliation with NYCFC increase SUSA chances of getting DA status? My belief is a definite yes, BUT does SUSA want DA status? DA status could jeopardize their ECNL status. If it was me, I'd pass on the DA and go for the Boys ECNL to complement the girls ECNL, and then there is also ECNL2 to consider. Will ECNL2 be coming to Long island for Fall 2019?
