This is an interesting situation for a number of reasons.

1- The accusing player was on a team that lost the game. What is his motive?

2- As the highest level American Referee Mark Geiger has been the rare American referee at this World Cup. Could this have any thing to do with any anti-American sentiment?

3-FIFA investigated and since Mr. Geiger was miked the entire time and the accusation was found to be baseless then the player making the accusation should be disciplined and/or fined for unsporting behavior at the least and besmirching the reputation of a great referee.

Maybe the player is upset that Morocco lost its bid to host the World Cup to the U.S-Ca-Mex?

I don't know if FIFA will do anything about the complaining player, but the Moroccan federation should take disciplinary action.

As usual Dave, you know better than I do and have provided yet another motivation for the player! I would think he has been disciplined for at the least embarrassing his own team, I’m sure he’s already been spoken to by his Coach. It reminds me of the unsporting remarks Hope Solo made about the other team after losing a match.

Well, this article perhaps is even a better example of why politics, religion, nationalism, etc needs to be banned in soccer. These two clowns on the Swiss team could have provoked a riot.
