The New York Red Bulls made it to the finals for last year's U.S. Open Cup. Not so fortunate though this time as they lose in the Round of 16 to rival Philadelphia Union in a 2-1 result.

Despite a late Bradley Wright-Phillips tally, the New York Red Bulls fell short to the Philadelphia Union, 2-1 on Saturday night in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa.
Philadelphia's Alejandro Bedoya assisted on both Union goals in a nine-minute span to build a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute.
Wright-Phillips looked to rally the Red Bulls back as he came off the bench in the 60thminute and scored in the 77th.
Wright-Phillips tallied his fifth career Open Cup goal and raised his all competitions total to 114.
BWP scored just his third career goal as a substitute and first since 2013.
Coming back from international duty with the Paraguay National team, Kaku recorded his first career Open Cup assist.
Kaku has tallied a point in three different major competitions since joining New York.
Captain Luis Robles tallied five saves in his first Open Cup match since June 15, 2016.
The Red Bulls completed their fifth game in 15 days. New York sent out their fifth different starting XI and recorded 2-2-1 mark during that span.
