Red Bulls Trade Away A Team Leader

Earlier this year the Red Bulls traded away last season's team captain Sacha Kljestan to Orlando City, last year they sold captain Dax McCarty, and this past week they traded away Felipe, who had he stayed with the team this year, might have been the Red Bull's captain.

The three effective and reliable central players have been spirited away. In the case of Felipe, who has been essentially injury free and played more in the past three seasons than any other field player has been traded for a central defender. You might think it would be easier to locate and sign a solid rugged central defender than trying to replace a player of Felipe's caliber, but head coach Jesse Marsch apparently has a lot of confidence in the team's up and coming young midfielders.
