This will be another challenging year for this age group. With the age change the 2002's definitely saw a drop in depth and talent on most teams when the 2001's moved up to play U16 this past season. In addition with GDA, this too will have an effect on players (rightly & wrongly) who made the move to DA from ECNL as well as NPL & EDP teams. No one knows how this new entity will work out. Will the players "hit the ground running" or will it take 2-3 years to get it right. Seems that parents from other leagues are more inclined to take "the leap of faith" for DA which is a step up from there present leagues while ECNL players not committed are staying with there teams for at least 1 more season to see how the DA plays out. More of the 01's and the verbally committed players seem to have signed up in the combined 01/02 DA teams.

Do you think he's wrong? If so, who do you think is the top team in this age group?

Hahaha, of course he doesn’t think he’s wrong, they could not counter with anything, other than a vicious personal attack. BTW: his daughter is a really strong player, on a really strong team, and I should know....

All the best WC players are playing GDA, all that's left on the ECNL team are benchwarmers and stragglers from other clubs who are *stars* just waiting to be discovered (insert eye roll).

Not at this age group. WC ECNL 02 is staying mostly intact.

Wonder who is left for them to play, a lot of players moved up to GDA elsewhere, no?

parent coached team. Parents kid is multi sport so he has convinced others this is the best course. Hope it works for all of them, but WC has been down this parent coach road many times and it rarely ends well.

Parents, your kids are now playing U16, they are becoming more mature and self sufficient and those that want to follow the path to play in college the recruitment begins in earnest this year. It's time for parents to grow up and learn to play in the sand box together. Coaches can smell parents like you from the other side of the field and will stay away from kids who have loud, obnoxious out of control parents. No kid is worth that parent mess. With DA & ECNL player movement no one knows what team is the best at this age. Grow up!

Only 2 WCFC 02 ECNL players have left for the uncertainty of GDA, one to NYSC the other to NYCFC, but neither was a top third player. This is a very good group, that includes a U16NT player!

P.S. Spare us with the perception of any parent-coach drama, great teams rise above....

They really dont. Parents rarely see the game thru anything but their kids eyes. Understandable, but not sustainable as kids change, gain other interests and focus on the game at differing degrees. Its easier pre HS but the real tests are yet to come. The rah rah team pahse ends once HS starts.

Will be interesting to see how a NT players prospects are impacted by not playing GDA. I hope they are not, but will be interesting to see if other players in the pool of similar talent improve at a faster rate in the GDA. WC had several NT players, I think all the others are GDA bound

I don't know if other NT players will necessarily improve at a different rate, but they will receive priority over non GDA players when it comes to rostering.

Oh, maybe that’s why they invited SK back to the u16 national camp, even though she is NOT playing DA, hmmmmmm

I hope that is not the case. Talent should be the determining factor.

GDA hasn't started yet. It's gonna be a whole new ball game for NT roster spots when it starts. The only non GDA players you'll see are those whose geography make it impossible to play GDA

WC parent is either being cavalier or naive with this answer of great teams rise above..... The moment a player sits, gets less playing time or is forced to play a different position then the coach's daughter there is no right answer to the player or family if a coach's daughter on any team is getting more playing time then deserved. If the team is run as a meritocracy then if the coachs daughter is deserving then that is not an issue. Do not know this team so can't say. Parents are the ones who cause the most problems and no matter how great a team it may be the team cannot function knowing that there is favoritism. This has happened on many teams when this has been an issue and that is why Clubs as a general rule do not allow Coaches to have there daughter on the same team after a certain young age. It's definitely a distraction.

^^ 100 pct. It already happened at WC to a team, with respect, that was far more successful than this team has been to date. Parent coaching does not work beyond a certain age.
