Congrats to HBC for making semis. Good luck the rest of the way. Enjoy the competition, it looks brutal.

Congrats these girls stayed to the plan and stayed true to each other and had their best year yet. They are excited to see what next year brings and excited to play with their loyal sisters on the team.

Lawd, you're so annoying...how many threads are you going to spew that crap on? FYI-this is the HIGH SCHOOL thread, so unless all of these kids are kicking a ball for the same school, this isn't the place for your hero worship of a bunch of 16 year olds.

This seems to be High school as well as '99 '00 and '01 thread. So this seems like the proper place for him worship a bunch of 16 year-olds if he so desires. But I think that's frowned upon in our society.

Once again this is someone trying to start $h!t. The team played last week, it was known last Thursday that they made the semis . BTW the congrat post went up while the semi game was in the middle of the first half. As the game was streamed it wasn't one of our parents.

It's ALWAYS one of the HBC parents....usually followed up by the obligatory "this isn't an HBC parent" post.

I know you love it bc your an assh0!e. Wouldn't it make sense that on Thursday after they made the semis that a parent would post something then. Instead a parent on our team is going to post a good luck post or a congratulations on making the semis 30 minutes after the semi game is underway? Smarten up!

Lemme guess! The post above isn't from an HBC parent either, lol. Geez those HBC parents are so obnoxious!

Actually they do...and High School soccer is considered more important as are all high school sports compared to travel soccer and other youth sports. Playing High School sports IMO is critical for every student for multiple reasons. Those of you who denigrate HS sports are doing your child a disservice.

And more importantly, your daughter's friends, their parents and half the town will not be coming to any of their club games but they will be there for school ball and will talk about it for years to come. Don't wish their lives away and obsess over what they might have to do to play college, enjoy the now, the high five for a game well played at school last night when they walk in the next day, the sense of community ....

I recently heard from two college coaches how they value HS soccer more than club soccer. Simple reason: it builds team spirit. Something they deeply value and believe is totally missing at the higher levels of club soccer. One coach specifically noted that the new GDA system is great for creating individual players, but really bad at making a team. He was not happy that GDA players are basically shut out of HS soccer.

That is a suburban myth, college coaches want great players, they don’t care where they are from, NPL, EDP, DA or ECNL, greatness awaits.

My daughter is a senior gOing to a D1 Mid-Major school. Club ball gave her all the opportunities. College coach still insisted on seeing one of her HS games last year. Clearly the HS meant something to the coach. The coach also says GDA is a farce for any player except the top 1% of players, any senior or junior who is not committed will not gain from it. She also stated that she looks mainly for players coming from good training clubs, NPL, EDP and ECNL are all the same to her. College ball is run alot more like HS than club, longer training sessions and a focus on fitness first. If your kid thinks the HS fitness focus is BS then wait till college it is worse. She won't even make the team if she can't pass her fitness test.

I agree with the above parent. There information is correct. My daughter is also a rising Senior playing D1. Every college coach has there own reasons of what part does high school soccer play in there determination for picking a player. In my daughters case the College had a discussion with the School AD and discussed her character and what her role was with the team. The fact she is a Captain shows that she shows leadership qualities. Colleges know the level of soccer is not there but it's how they interact in. School setting that is important to them. Folks, Character matter very much to these characters and the team chemistry they want to build on there own teams and they will vette your daughter on every level. As far as what the parent said about fitness is 100% correct. Fitness matters first and foremost especially if they are playing D1.

Every player is different. What applies to you may not apply to others. Its not groundbreaking to say fitness matters in College soccer. To say its first and foremost is misleading. fitness with no talent and talent with no fitness are both pretty useless.

To say fitness first and foremost is misleading is nonsense. Every player when they leave for the summer are given a very specific fitness regime by the trainers that the coaches check up on you periodically. If you show up this week (coincidentally) when D1's open camp and are not in shape or not at the level expected of you then you are basically banished to the end of the line. Games start up in 2 plus weeks and Coaches do not have time to get you in shape. You can have the most talent on the team but if you are not fans fit then your talent is useless to them. D1 athletes are about being fit to perform. Any player on that roster has talent and the skills to succeed that is why they are on the team. My daughter and her friends also playing in college worked out with a personal fitness trainer this summer to get ready for this week.

Agree... total farce except for the exceptional player. What's next? Good HS lax and basketball players no longer allowed to play in HS? They can only play club ball?

What happened here is very simple. This was the means of eliminating the 2+ months in lost revenue. While the girls played HS ball there were no training $ being made. Now there will be a 12 month revenue stream.

I am sure the overall quality of women' s soccer will now increase exponentially. LOL

What a load of BS. Is all relative. I can get any player fit, I cant give them real talent. To say everyone on a D1 roster has PLAYING talent is not true. If it was, the fittest would play and the rest would ride the pine. Fitness is a factor, but definitely not first and foremost, Especially in College where you have crazy substitution rules.

I have no idea what your point is with this response. Are you saying that every player on the roster doesn't necessarily have talent? Then how were they offered spots and scholarships? On what criteria? As far as crazy substitution rules they are the same as ECNL. Leads me to believe that you have no idea what your talking about.
