if i has a player on my team who didnt go in hard, regardless if the opponenent was a boy or girl, they would be on the bench...if a girl wants to play with the boys, and can, than she should...but she has to be treated like a member of a boys team not like a girl,on a boys team...you go girl...

Actually a woman, but if she has no local girls team to play on, she should be allowed to play on the boys team without issue.

I heard team is done after season, coach is already looking at other teams. What does the All Star coach do for a living?? Only reason I ask is I heard he was a teacher our maybe even a principal?? God I hope that's a rumor!!

I can think of several U11 girls off the top of my head that would be dominant players on boys U11 teams. I'd love to see more of it. If you ask me the parents of some of the very strong girls in the age group should let them play on the boys side. The speed of play is a little faster and those girls would benefit for a few years, then they could return back when they are a little older if they want to win a state cup with their friends.

My daughter guest played on a boys team this June...parents were hesitant at first....she was the play maker and set many of the boys up to score goals...then they were very supportive! Girls = team players, want the team to win, Boys = want to score for themselves.....Keep this in mind before thinking of kicking the girl to the curb!

After coaching for 15 years and then becoming a referee, I have seen a fair share of girls playing on boys teams. Just about all that I have seen were as good if not better than some of the boys. As far as boys playing on girls teams, I think the point is moot. It would have to be a very secure and unique boy that could possibly ever think of playing on a girls team and having to hear it from his buddies. Think about that!
People also forget that Mia Hamm played with boys until she was about 15!

If you think all high school and club sports should not be separated into girls and boys teams (softball, volleyball, baseball, ect.)than I can respect your beliefs but still not agree with them.

My daughter played with the boys last season. It seemed like a good idea but didn't work out for us. Although she definitely had the talent to do so, it turned out to be an unhappy experience for her. She didn't bond with the boys and felt very uncomfortable. She now plays exclusively with the girls because for us the bottom line was we wanted her to have fun and enjoy being with her teammates. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think the girl is also going to have to be mentally tough to make that adjustment. Because the last thing you would want is to turn her off to the sport she loves to play. Good luck.

Co-ed is fine for kids until around 10 or 11 when the boys (on average) become significantly faster and stronger than the girls. Maybe 12 or 13 if in non-competative rec leagues.

After that, the girls that can still physically compete with the boys face the socialization issue of only having one or two girls on the team. I wouldn't ban girls from competing with the boys but I wouldn't recommend it in most cases.

That being said, the girls that come out of intramural co-ed programs are generally better prepared for the physical play of competitive soccer than those that played in all-girls leagues.
