[quote=Anonymous]The academy system just plane stinks. They choose 1 or 2 kids per team to push through. Whether it be for their actual soccer skills or who they know or their economic background. The other boys are there so there is a team. Could not be truer. Everyone looks at my kid at high level. Great kid, great player, great personality, problem is he looks and represents like a choir boy from the suburbs. Why take him when they can take some poor kid, or a poor kid with purple hair. Or a kid that's family no speake English. It is called reverse discrimination. If you do not think this country has lost it, watch how many TV stations apologized to plumbers because Bill Belichick said "it was better to be a NFL head coach then a plumber." this is true story... I know a boy played for C- team at big club then moved to very small town team. even though the boys play for C- team/small club, both MLS teams keep inviting the boy for practices The boy is small (below average) and not strong player (not aggressive physical player) and I believe most of us may overlook the boy, I found out that it doesn't matter which club/level your son plays for, as long as your son keeps playing and if they like/see it, they will find your son. so, we parents should relax and let your son enjoy playing soccer I totally agree. And I feel sorry for this player because he’s going to believe the bs his parent is spewing and that his situation will be be fixed by the complaining. He’s got to stand on his own and go get it and forget the peripheral noise. There’s a complainer-parent in every group this guy mentioned and they all point the finger at each other. Just let them play and figure it out themselves. Your kid will be better off. NTCFC will find your son if your son has talent. They have really strong net-work. it doesn't matter your son is a choir boy from the suburbs, rich or poor, playing DA or C team Trust me. they don't miss your son's talents. relax and enjoy

Shouldn’t u ask that on the girls thread Still interesting as insight into an MLS organization. Other than all the crazy soccer parents , this confirms that nobody cares about the MLS or American soccer at all. Even less care about women’s soccer, other than every four years when the World Cup occurs.

Average 2017 MLS attendance was over 22,000, third behind the NFL and major league baseball. Atlanta United FC, owned by Home Depot co-founder and Falcons owner Arthur Blank, entered the league in 2017 and averages over 52,000 fans per game.” https://www.inc.com/jeff-haden/dont...american-sports-and-sports-business.html

I have seen it over and over, club pushes certain kids through usually based on having a parent who is a board member or DOC, or the coach's big recruit. Doesn't matter that there may be other equal or better players on the team. Those kids get forgotten all the time. Look st BWG

Shouldn’t u ask that on the girls thread Still interesting as insight into an MLS organization. No its more about GDA, which is struggling in the NE, and the club deciding being in the girls market isn't for them. There's a reason almost no pro teams got involved in GDA.

A few other cities also rally behind their teams, like Seattle. Soccer is slowly making inroads but is still very small in the total US sports market. Average MLS attendance is about 22,000. That pales behind American football (avg 67,000), baseball (28,800). Only basketball is smaller (17,500) but it's played in smaller stadiums and has many, many more games. Average Bundesliga is 48,000 and EPL 38,000. If you take total attendance numbers MLS is well below US hockey and even minor league baseball Major League Baseball 69,625,244 National Hockey League 22,174,362 National Basketball Association 22,124,559 National Football League 17,177,581 Premier League 14,505,999 Bundesliga 13,661,796 Minor League Baseball (AAA) 13,381,926 Major League Soccer 8,552,503 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_attendance_figures_at_domestic_professional_sports_leagues.
