The New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL) is expanding into the Hudson Valley beginning this fall for U-8 through U-18 boys and girls.

“We are very excited to bring our services to the Hudson Valley,” commented Gary Grossman, President of the NYCSL. “The area was ready for positive change and we will now have a unique opportunity to offer new programs to our current members as well as our new partnership with the Hudson Valley region.”

The expansion provides additional clubs in the Hudson Valley with access to many unique and beneficial resources to help the clubs grow, improve their developmental services, and benefit their players.

Three levels of play are currently offered by the NYCSL, the top tier of which is the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Division. Also offered by the NYCSL is a league which includes Long Island, the five boroughs, Westchester, and the Hudson Valley, as well as local leagues.

The NYCSL also hosts the New York Cup, which will conclude its 2012 edition on May 20 at the HBC Complex in Melville, N.Y.
“I am excited to work with the current HVYSL administration,” said Grossman. “The league itself brings integrity and professionalism and is a tireless advocate for the player. HVYSL leadership will serve as the NYCSL representative for the Hudson Valley region.”

Since 2004, US Club Soccer has conducted the id2 National Identification and Development Program, which provides an opportunity for the country's elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed – regardless of affiliation or lack thereof – while also being scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. As part of the id2 Program, US Club Soccer also organizes Player Development Programs (PDPs).

Both the id2 Program and Player Development Programs have been granted Olympic Development Program status.

As part of its commitment to improving player development through club development, US Club Soccer has created Youth Club Standards, a comprehensive set of aspirational guidelines for all clubs across the United States. The document reflects specific areas or platforms that clubs and club leadership should be targeting for growth, change, and improvement within the organization.

Larry, what ever happened with the East Hudson situation. Did Ken Gulmi actually resign as president of that league. Who is the new president.

Yes he resigned...I don't know who took his place, but I'll bet it is someone who is sympathetic towards ken.

And it looks like ENYYSA is running scared. This was just sent to all league presidents regarding State Cup. Looks like NYCSL is making big strides if ENYYSA had to send this out:

Dear League Presidents:

The following changes to the State Cup qualifications were approved at the June general meeting.

League Play (Open Cup)

Your team must play the entire league schedule for the league in which you are competing. Leagues are required to schedule a minimum of one game against every other team in the flight with a minimum of three other teams participating in the league at the same age level. Not withstanding this minimum playing requirement, a team must play its entire league schedule. That is, if the league schedules ten games during the season, a team must play ten games to qualify. There is no three game qualification. League procedures for forfeits must also be adhered to. This league playing requirement must be completed one week prior to the start of Regional Competition.

All leagues must adhere to this rule and provide adequate and legitimate competition in order to be sanctioned as a ENYYSA qualifying league

Well you are right, however, I was hoping the registered users would start the age groups.

A registered user can start a new topic. I'd rather they do it than me so let's give it another week. They are usually in place prior to all the leagues alignments.

Thanks and I'm on it.

Actually, the age groups rollover on August 1st - so as usual, BOTN is actually AHEAD of the game! Remember that the end of July is when we annually start our new college discussion threads and early August is when you can expect to see our eighth annual Varsity High School discussion threads open!

I was under the impression and always told that July 1 was the date. Not a big issue, but if it were August 1, then why are tryouts technically "not allowed" after June 30 and they have to be "open practices"?
