Zero, it's included in the team's registration in LIJSL. It's not like State Cup which is seperate and additional

Not included, its added $100

Can someone clarify?? We were never asked to register. I was told LI Cup is automatic, all get a spot.

Yes, all teams are automatically put into the LI Cup. It is up to the team to to request a withdrawal, and the window to withdraw is very small. The LI Cup seems to me to be just another league game in a different dress. If I were a coach I would not have my team play this event, but rather look to play something meaningful if I wanted to play extra games.

It can be as many as 4 or 5 extra games, all for $100, against teams you should be competitive against. What meaningful games would you rather play the 3 in bad weather for $700 like the MSC tourney ?

Without question the MSC. What makes you think the weather is so wonderful for the first two rounds of the LI Cup? I also highly disagree with your definition of 'competitive' between the two events. As I said, the LI Cup is just another league game in a different dress.

I think Bayport has a new trainer to get them in the right direction since they looked lost the last two seasons trying to get the gun n run method against teams who are working on the possession game.

They looked lost at 8 and 9 nine years old? Wow that is a very presumptuous statement. This new trainer must be a miracle worker. I thought bay port have looked pretty good the past couple of seasons. Thank god they got this new trainer and saved them.

Bayport looked lost? They are clearly one of the best U11 teams. You should go see some of the other 130 teams. Bayport consistently plays at a very high level for such young kids. And I'm not criticizing the weaker teams. You are an idiot.

I really can not believe someone would write about themselves saying they saved a team and turned them around. These are 10 year old kids playing soccer and trying to have fun. I really thought bayport was a top team??

Well IF that is true our Club is nice and pick's up the tab which I doubt. None of my teams have ever paid for LI/Waldbaum's Cup. Sounds like someone is pocketing some cash

Must be included in your registration but you're paying one way or the other.

$375 to register a team this age for league play and $100 for LI Cup. Some clubs pay for those fees out of the player regsitration feees collected, others bill individual teams.

With all due respect to Mr. Miller and BOTN, but there are about 130 teams in this age bracket in LIJ. About 110 of them, would not be remotely competitive in the MSC tournament. So why is that the better choice? Yeah, you are very likely to draw a team in the LI Cup that's also in your division in the regular season. But what I like about it is that like the NFL, nearly every team goes into the tourney thinking they have a shot at winning, or at least being competitive. Don't think the MSC tourney is even trying to cater to D5 teams.

So, you are saying that there are no competitive teams out of the 130 in lij?

You are saying that playing another league game is better?

I don't blame you for positing anonymously.

I am going by what I'm told and what the State published and that is that it is a random draw.

Years ago, the draw was done in Franklin Square and many coaches would come and be present at a random draw. I was there and the draw was random and everyone in room, over 100 coaches knew it was random, and yet people would post that it wasn't. I am going with it was random, since there is no way for BOTN to claim otherwise. Next year, however, we will send in our undercover operatives to make sure smile

larry - In your experience, would there be any reason to redo a draw? BU12 was published, then taken down and republished with completely different match-ups and different teams with 1st round byes.
