People are caught up in believing that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so they scramble around like mice going after a piece of cheese. But here's the fact: the majority of u-14 boys will play only 3 more fall season and 3 more spring seasons at most. By 16 or 17, most will leave to focus on other sports or drop out of athletics all together. Look at the drop off in the number of boys teams from 16 to 17 if you don't believe me. Then, of the few teams that remain, maybe, and it's a huge MAYBE, 20 or so boys will commit to play in college. And of those 20 or so boys, maybe half will get a bit of scholarship money.

That's the reality folks... 3 more fall seasons... 3 more spring seasons... AT MOST... And the pot of gold is mirage... Let it go,

So enjoy them, whatever team your boy plays on or against.

This is very true. All of it. Fortunately my son has stuck with it and at U17 we have one more year. There is some money out there BUT and this is a big BUT most of the money comes from academics even with soccer. Soooooo. Focus on their grades and enjoy the time you do have left!!!!

Excellent points about how little time is left. I believe and hope that the severe negativity is just a small group that frequently post their distorted views. It only takes a few to give a bad name to all. And that goes for every team at every level.

Alot of these posts come from disgruntled or frustrated parents, kids goofing around, or coaches commenting with or without an agenda. The bottom line is that we all have to look in the mirror and ask ourselves if we are doing what is best for our children and then the game of soccer. The rest is just noise and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

GCP has an outstanding keeper and 2-3 very talented players. The two goals scored by GCP were very nice. The reality is that DH dominated the possession and flow of the game even with the bad weather conditions which obviously affects both teams. DH should have had another 3 goals in last night game but again the keeper made some amazing saves. GCP is a good team but not at the level of the Titans and DH.

Nice to see the gk from GCP get some recognition. He is very talented. Definitely among the top 5 keepers in this age bracket.

Thank you GCP parent. Your Gk , as your team, is a D1 team. Please do not try and compare it to any of the Region 1 or NERP teams. Your players were exposed by a REGION 1 team. I do not expect you would feel the same at if you had to play in our league. Lastly, top 5 in the age group. How are you picking this list? Have you seen all the GKS on the Region 1 and NERP teams? NO! Again you prove my point that alittle knowledge does not make an expert.

Because the USSF feels that the additional 3 months training at a high level is more important than kids hanging out with their friends playing for a history teacher making extra money as a soccer coach. Remember that the goals of the USSF are to find players that can compete at the International Level.

Let's face it, if players have that potential, what can they possibly gain by playing High School Ball. Everyone talks about camaraderie and school spirit but be honest, how many friends do we still talk to from high school? The 2 or 3 I still socialize with from High School were the same ones I played travel baseball and basketball with. I haven't talked to the guys who I just played HS ball with since I graduated.

The wee one is slowly losing control. boys at other tryouts. have not won a game in region 1. Squeaking by GC with a 1 goal differential. The foundation has cracks in it.
I heard he flat out threw off 2 boys for going to Rough-rider tryouts. Released them as soon as he found out.

Is that allowed in US Club? Either way, I'd sue the Dix Hills club and him personally just to take him/them down a peg. Disgusting behavior Cort. One of the many things you should be ashamed of.
