Neither child played sports in college. Their involvement in organized sports ceased in their senior year of high school. The daughter that went to Duke is a practicing attorney in NYC specializing in securities law, and the daughter who went to Northwestern University and graduated with a degree in astro- physics, and is a nuclear engineer working for a nuclear energy company in Bethesda.

Both daughters are under 30 years old. Why is this helpful?

Congratulations to your girls on their hard work and their accomplishments! Why is this helpful? Academics should be a main priority and sports should be secondary. It is nice to have a suitable mix of both. What is your feeling on soccer scholarships? There is no free ride these days, so obvs academic grades come into consideration. Also, what is all the hype with a soccer scholarship to an ivy-league school where all you get is a "golden ticket" since parents must still pay full tuition? Thanks for your input!

Seems every age group has the same BS about the top level teams moving to ECNL. Why would a team want to move to a league where a team gets in based on its club instead of the quality of tits team. This will only result in weak team from good clubs being in this league. Keep shouting about how good the competition is and maybe someone will believe you. Please compare the results of the Region 1 teams vs the ECNL teams at the top tournaments. You will see where the best competition is.

OK lets...For u15g

From the gotsoccer ranks from August (the start of ECNL season)...
7 of the top 10 teams are in the ECNL
11 of the top 25 teams are in the ECNL
top 2 teams from R1P from last year are in the ECNL

From NEWSS top 2 teams were ECNL teams. ECNL teams went 8-3, non ECNLs went 4-8. Only one of the three ECNL losses were to non-ECNL teams.

Here's a thought:

Stony Brook or Mass should call HBC and arrange a merger. HBC made it into R1 yet only had 11 players in last 2 tournaments. It could be a great fit. Take top 8 kids from each and you'd have a team that could compete with teams like Farm. United, etc.

The other could merge with Alby "B" team. They made NERP and also have a small roster. Combined they could be a powerhouse also.

Just an idea. Will probably never happen but you never know.

Makes sense. Or maybe they could just merge with each other although it sounds like there may not be anyone left at SB. Anyone know where they are going?

Just an FYI. Many Ivy student/athletes don't pay full tuition. Many are eligible for grants which are SIGNIFICANT. They deserve it because they are true student athletes. If they want you they will lead you to the grant money.
