Cosmos 99 held their own in spite of playing up 1/2 year. Very attractive soccer style, moving the ball around and playing the ball from the back forward. Everton played to their strengths using their big forward to capitalize on over the top balls. One thing I don't get is why bring guest players. I mean, you're not fooling anybody, not even your own players. Beachside played their usual possession game. Need a striker, thought. You have to translate possession into goals NYSC, IMO the worst of the bunch. Uninspired soccer, should've lost to Cosmos and did lose to Everton. the only bright spot, their win against beachside On the other bracket, Aguila was the biggest disappointment. A sure bracket winner in everyone's mind due to the weakness of the opponents. Still, couldn't put together a single winning performance. Kudos to World Class, a team that came out of nowhere and did what it had to make the final. Everton proved too strong an opponent for them.
No offense to the cosmos but enough of this half year up crap! 60% or more of LIj players in u-13 are 99's. Let that go already.

Hicksville SC - Robert Cabrera Memorial Tournament - Putting a Premier team in a bracket with division 7 and 8 teams was a total disgrace. Only to be outdone by the "Coach" (term used in the loosest sense) who let them run up scores by 8 and 9 goals in an 18 minute match. Letting the keeper come up the field and score against one of your own Club teams when they are up by 8 goals.....disgrace. I hope that "Coach" and his players are proud of themselves this morning; and Eric Lorandini, you should be ashamed of yourself. A tournament should be a fun experience for young players. A competitive atmosphere at the very least. One of your own Coaches was the most vocal - and wanted me to go to you to complain. I did not, as I would not waste my time. You sir, do not get it. The referees were such obvious "homers" that it was embarrasing. No excuses, or whining - we can take a loss - this tournament counts for nothing - no problem. That is not the issue I am bringing up. This was a poorly run tournament, which should be avoided at all costs. You should call the Hicksville SC and complain to them. Apparently they have their heads in the sand and are unaware of the problems that occurred with the tournament. Or even better, Call this guy Eric, his name and number is readily available on the web. He should be answering a lot of these questions considering it was his son and his sons teammates that ran up the score! So why the big mystery? Which 'Premier' team is this? We were just told by the "Coach" that this was just some of their "premier" players from (Erics academy team(s)-PSA I believe) that they threw together for this tournament. I guess they wanted to show the Hicksville parents what their children can do if they fork over money to him. HAHA they still only beat our div.6 team 6-2 --- save your money people!

ok just to stop speculation about cosmos age here are the ages:
5 players are older 99's (born before 8/1/99}
7 players are younger 99 (after 8/1/99)
5 players are 00's
1 player is 01
total 98's on roster none are 98 no guests since the 98 academy played in the U14 bracket

Look cosmos are an excellent team and after reading this thread daily for a year there is not much trash to talk about them. This age thing is a stupid debate, In lIJ you play the division according to your oldest player so they would be a u-13 team just like the rest of us. Every team has 98/99/and a 00 or 2. Nature of the beast. Put it to rest. On a side note. seems to me like people are happy when a team from Long Island loses. Following them to mock a poor performance. I have a different view on it. I see that Long Island has competition within itself to be the best(For example: Brentwood, EM, United, Albertson etc) as well as the possibility of playing for a gotchee, RougRider etc... Here we talk and say Long Island can't compete in scope of regional play etc... I think if we only had ONE good team that everyone was trying to be on, Long Island would have a top notch team. There is plenty of talent right here in our backyard. So my view is we have many real good teams, that's why we don't have a great team.
