This newly unveiled sports facility featuring an inviting landscape is located at Tibbetts Brook Park on Midland Avenue in Yonkers. It houses 2 – 50 x 100 soccer fields and 1 field - 60 x 120 to play Soccer, Football and Lacrosse. This facility has three outdoor lighted turf fields.

The above claim is made by the city of Yonkers re Tibbets. As the above poster said FIFA regulation (albeit minimum) is 50 x 100. Parking for these fields is not designed well for high capacity events and is a well known issue that is unlikely to be addressed any time soon.

Regulation means 100 x 50 or larger.

My guess is that Tibbets were about 110 x 60. (the penalty area is 48 yards wide: there was definitely mere the 3 ft of width outside the area. Pro teams have played on smaller...) [/quote]

Thanks for the definition, Mr. FIFA. We all know the regulation size. But Tibbets was not 100 x 50, maybe the whole green area, but not the lined field. And if you believe for one second that pros play on the size of the Tibbets or smaller you are on another planet. It's meant for 8 v 8 or 9 v 9 youth games. Nothing more. Pro teams have played on smaller? Than what? 100 x 50? lol. What are you smoking? FIFA wouldn't allow it. C'mon. Get real. It was a U11 or under sized field. maybe U12 with 9 v 9 play.

From gov't web site about Tibbets:

"Because of space limitations at the site, only one of the fields was designed at the maximum size of 360 feet long by 225 feet wide to accommodate adult soccer and football games. The other two fields were designed at a smaller size.... "

I don't know, But GT may have had red card. I think a team is docked a point for that - but Gotsoccer does not pick that up.

"One bonus point will be deducted for each red card issued including for any coach ejected from the game or from the event."

AAHHHH - does it say that in the Manhattan Rules?? That could be it then

Some of the points here are valid points, but give it a rest on the field size nonsense. Only losing teams and excuse-makers focus on that.

It was kinda crappy that we had to watch though a metal fence. That was a first. Very dissapointing. The field and facility looked great through the holes in the fence. It was like we snuck into the stadium but didn't have seats. Also, why was there only one kid reffing the game? I am sure he was a nice kid but even our regular season games have three refs.

Also, the parents were not allowed near the field to watch the games but instead we had to watch from behind the fences in the mud. We were told by "security" that this had to be done because there were a few parents at the earlier games that had the nerve to bring donuts and coffee while watching the kids play in the rain.

I was at those yonkers field - next to the water tower. Most everything you said was accurate. We had a pretty good time however and the field was absolutely perfect. Probably the best turf I have seen to date. Nice venue. But I do agree with your assessment of the bizarre situation for the parents spectating the game. How about the rediculously dangerous steep cliff surrounding the field that wasn't fenced? Holy crap. I was thinking about bringing my whole family to the game this morning, thank god I didn't. I am sure i would have lost one of my young ones.

I have no idea why you had to watch through a fence....Thats never happened before....Did a parent misbehave? or were you trying to bring in food. In 5 years that has never happened...

I saw a few posts regarding the refs this year. Definitely not up to par vs last year. Cards flying everywhere and a lot of missed calls

It happened. it was the field with the Yonkers water tower and Mt. Everest sized cliffs. Yet, they would allow us to sit in the stands right behind the goalie....which is a no no in soccer right? It felt like we were watching our kids outside the prison walls....very bizarre. Oh well. Still enjoyed myself.

Our field sizes were fine for U11. I do agree with you that enough is said on this subject already, including the bashing of the refs (ours in game 1 at Riverside Park was brutal, may have cost us the game by disallowing a goal for no good reason, but oh well). Anyways, field size is very important and has nothing to do with being on the winning or losing end of it.
11 v 11 on a narrow and or short field sucks. Did you ever play soccer before? This isn't suppose to be a small sided scrimmage with your club at practice, this is a big time tourney.

I was also at the Fleming fields in Yonkers - the brand new turf fields and ample parking were wonderful. We all stood on the sideline so not sure what people are referring to about being outside the fence. Only issue was the officiating by very young, unqualified refs was poor.
