The USSF interested in developing players should build indoor turf field at the academies then it can run all year long european style. As in most soccer it is never about the kids. There is a NY kid who dropped out of high school after the 9th grade played on no high school team, academy team state or regional team. Having 2 starters on 2 different academy teams i think the post is fairly accurate. The truth is that this is what the academies are for the most part. As soon as mine are recruited we were done. Both of my kids hated the academy and are looking forward to playing college ball

Ihave to agree though long winded this is an accurate picture of the academy. The only ones who would feel threatened by this are coaches and managers. My son also hates his academy team and is using it to be seen by college coaches as the academy is also using him.

Perhaps you went to the wrong Academy program. Hate to tell you, not all are like this.

My guess is that neither of you have kids on an Academy team.

Correct, I don't and he wouldn't.. We all know too many that are and are not happy. Don't try your bullsh*t approach with me, it will not fly!

The only way that academies would be worth playing is if your kid could get a million dollar contract to play in some foreign country. Not going to happen. The women's team has folded and the USSF is some 6.1 million in the red this year alone. What is the rainbow you're chasing? smile

The college coaches will come see any good player play, no matter where they play. Get your head out of the sand!
