Larry...
With the absence if solid leadership at Long Island Junior, will a league like the NPL start attracting more of the higher level teams? We are a solid D1 team and enjoy the battles with the Crush, but if they are leaving LIJ along with BWA should we look to do the same? Additionally, can a club have both a ENY and a US Club designation? I know that LIJ was trying to scare people with insurance liability talk last year to discourage play in aWannbeLowLevelLeague. Is joining NY Club Soccer a smart move for a club?

The real truth in my opinion is that there are so many choices that the entire area is watered down. It is a total cluster [****]!! The NPL is not the place to go in our area.

What we need is for ENYYSA and LIJSL to regain credibility and success in their programs that they lost control of many, many years ago. The LIJSL has the same old fools running the store for at least the past 15 years. If you look at their business model they seem to interest in only obtaining more cash. Auctions, conventions, PDP programs, and other areas of the league have only produced cash.

Division 1 in LIJSl used to mean something. It doesn't anymore. ODP, Select, etc, also mean and produce nothing but revenue. One only has to look at these same programs run by other State Associations to see the difference. Check out Washington State or Oregon as an example.

There is also another problem that faces the ENYYSA group and that is the red tape and needless arcane rules of the USYSA.

If it were me and my kid, I would look at another sport. I believe that the LIJSL Executive Bunch will never be able to make changes because it is the same people with the same line of crap and I don't believe the clubs and teams are buying into their meshugass, and the people running the NPL and US Club leagues here are not any better!!

Mt Sinai has not been mentioned in days...it's over, you are the jack@#$!

You obviously know the coach, why don't you just call him?

What LIJSL needs to do....

(1) Offer Sunday soccer like aWannbeLowLevelLeague. Many of us play in a second league, even if it's offshoot team of a mix of your A and B squads. This will shut downt he "wanna be league"
(2) Players should be allowed to play in two age groups within the same club. If they pay they can play. So their will be more B and C teams for LIJSL.
(3) Make the coaches responsible for the conduct of their players. No more looking the other way. Kids that are dangerous need to be talked too by the coaches.
(4) aWannbeLowLevelLeague sends three officials to each game. I think this helps the ref tremendously and keeps problems to a minimum.
(5) In some of the younger divisions, if a squad is up by five at the half, they should declare that team the winner, and choose up sides for the second half.
(6) In older Divisions is a team is 0-5 and geeting pummled, they should allow in-season adjustment of allignments.
(7) Get their schedule out sooner.
(8) Give out real trophies, the stuff we received this year was not even worth picking in up. I know it's the thought that counts but this was comical.

What does aWannbeLowLevelLeague do wrong, there are no standards. Nets, Field size, vary from place to place.

Time to move Elmont into the top 5. Your bottom 3 are going to have to battle it out with Hicksville for final 2 spots. I would be shocked if all these teams even stayed together after this season. I know they are all going to be scrambling to even get enough kids for the roster. (maybe not POB since they can grab kids from the B-team if needed)

7. Brentwood Arsenal
8. POB
9. Bellmore - if they keep the same lineup.
10. RVC Milan - Only if they outlast Elmont.

Hicksville is a team that picked up one or two HOTA kids, so who knows how they will fare.

Elmont should have done better in the fall, we'll see how it goes in the spring.

SOme of the S1 teams are not playing LIJ in the fall. Brentwood and HBC are going NPL. Not sure about N1

You are a total fool. Over Playing anyone at any age is risk to injury as well as losing the love of the game when it becomes like a job. Do you honestly think these are professionals playing, these are U11 Boys.

You hit the mark on point 8, the medals given out are not good enough for you and your shelf. What an asshole.

They play two games per day in travel baseball.

In soccer, everyone of our kids plays multiple games in tournaments. This happens several times per season. So I don't get your point? Do you keep your kids out of tournaments because you risk of injury has proven to be statistically so much higher? Because if you know it is proven to be a severe risk then you should not have your kids enter tournaments! The point is not to be hippocritical.

I am glad that you know how many weekends every child can play multiple games and not increase their risk of injury, and the rest of us don't know anything?

Please show me the professional studies linking two soccer games in one day to real risk of injury, and quitting the game. I bet the risk is not known. However, it is logical that the risk of injury is increased only because you are doubling your exposure. Not because your 11 year old is fatigued after a 40 minute game despite practicing 90 minutes twice a week.

Most kids quit soccer teams when they are teens because their interest changes. Those who think that every kid quits because the parents burned them out are kidding themselves and listening to psychobabble. Burn-out can and does happen, but more often then not kids quit for different reasons. Sometimes it's as simple as playing an 11 year old against 12 year olds, which many of you do.

The only reason you remember the burn out cases is because they usually are good players. You think, what if? However, the run-of-the-mill player, nobody opines on.

If my child gets tired of soccer, we will play golf, or tennis, or violin or whatever he wants. I am not thinking this is my child's professional path in life.

Right now my child WANTS to play all day. Like we used to do when we were kids. So I should be worried that the 40 minutes of gametime he gets on a Saturday is his limtit after practicing 90 minutes twice a week with his soccer club?

What I would like is LIJSL to give opitions to allow players compete at their own age, and sometimes play up an age (if appropriately skilled) within his club.

Truthfully I was more advocating for games on Saturdays and Sundays so interested players can participate with one team one day, and another the next, (within the same club.)

That is reason must people join a second league. Get in another game, and often it's more fun to play with another set of coaches and players.

Certainly you CAN compare Baseball to Soccer but you shouldn't. Baseball you stand around MOST of the time. Not knocking it but that's the truth compared to Soccer (Like baseball too but love Soccer). Completely agree that there is no issue in playing 2 games a day or a weekend at any age IF the player is conditioned and WANTS to. Tournament point is perfect and I would add when they get to the age of Premier, they will HAVE TO play 2 games in a day in most cases should they play on a Premier team. Regardless, it's about having choices.
