dont overthink it....you will never figure it out.
Teams will come in first one season by a mile and then come in last the next season. No rhyme or reason I've never seen that, you overexaggerate. I think it is fairly reflectice of the top team and the bottom teams. The middle group could be a bit subjective. If you behave well all year it will show, if you continually dont do well it also shows. I've had it happen to me the past 2 seasons. 2 seasons ago we finished dead last and that includes 3 games where we played down because the other team didn't have enough players. Never ran up the score. This year we finished second and that includes a game where I pulled my team off with 10 minutes left because the ref let the game get out of control of which I informed him of such as i tended to my 5th injured player. Same players, same coaches, same parents. Unfortunately it's a crock.

As a ref and coach, I can say I have never ever been given direction on what I should be grading on. I agree its a joke You are a liar and should be ashamed of yourself. Every mandatory meeting for referees this is spoken to all referees. As for the coaches, they are told at the orientation meeting only the first time they go.

As a ref and coach, I can say I have never ever been given direction on what I should be grading on. I agree its a joke You are seriously failing on two fronts and need to look in the mirror. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous comments. If you don't know what to do as a Coach to instill good sporting behavior how can you give a yellow card to a player for UB? If you wear a referee badge and do not go to meetings, study the LOTG and ask questions then you are shortchanging the game. If you have not seen a good role model of a coach in your club or a referee in a game that does it right then you are missing the boat. But do not embarass yourself on this site by disparaging your fellow coaches and referees. Most if not all try to do it right. I coached one travel team for 8 years. We won a sportmanship patch and a few chevrons. Then we had a Coach that had to always act up. He never understood why we never won again. After Coaching I became a referee. If you can't Coach or be a good referee then maybe you should focus on just doing ONE of them right! Sounds corny but why don't you go by the following- "Any job big or small, do it right or not at all" Here's my RED CARD to you for irresponsible behavior!

And the parents, I'm sure they were quiet about it. For the record, parents cannot dispute any calls, make comments to the ref, or address them in any way. I'm sure none of that happened either. Those who do not get it probably never will, what a shame.

Those who do not get it probably never will, what a shame. You missed the point completely, obviously you didn't "get it". With a game like this my team still finished 2nd in sportsmanship. Obviously we probably got a low grade for that game. The season before we finished last. 2 seasons before that we finished 2nd, the season before that first. And as I said, the season we finished last I had my team play down 3 games. As for the game itself, after the 4th player on my team was injured I did "inform" the referee that if he didn't get the game under control I would pull my team off. His response was do what you have to do and then called a foul on a player on my team. Did I deserve a low score in that game? Yes, based on the way it is scored. 5 times I had to go out to tend to an injured player that game, less than that for the other games that season combined. My players aren't saints but they don't go head hunting or push players down from behind every time they were beat.
